@Severus Snape but it wasn't anything special of a match. Plus It wasn't because they wanted to pass the Torch to Cena, Triple H just wanted to main event and be in the spotlight. I mean look at the Rumble from the year, Triple lasted nearly as long as Rey even though hat would later have no significance in the Buildup to Wrestlemania like they did with Orton. Plus a Royal Rumble winner = Title Opportunity At Wrestlemania main event however they Treated Mysterio as an Insignificant winner cause he didn't get the main event. A significant winner would've had the main event easy. People Like Rey or Del Rio never got the main event spot that they deserved. Maybe it's just the Rey Idoliser in me speaking, idk.

MrGhostVI even still. Most of the 80s WM sucked. 3,5 are the only decent ones. And 3 is a stretch. I know its iconic but besides Macho /Steamboat, the show sucks. And dont say Andre Hulk was good. It had a single moment in a otherwise god awful match. It always amazes me that Hogan had to have even main event. I get that people liked him but that started to decline by 5 and he still was in every main event and forced himself in 9s. And im not to young to understand. I watched that live as a kid hating hogan. Macho was the real star and he could actually wrestle.

Thomas C. Back then wrestling was still evolving. They didn't have moves like today's high-flying acrobatics. HBK was 1st and only to dive thru ropes. Now everyone learned those moves from Harper & Ziggler to Roman, Rollins, Ambrose, Cowboy Bob Orton was only guy to do a superplex from middle ropes in 80s. Now everyone does it.

X7 will always be over rated because it is so hyped. I watched it and it was ok, but not as good as everyone said it was. It didnt hold my attention through the whole show. It was pretty good though. Top 2 or 3 at least

I'd been following the WWF since Mania II. They actually announced Savage as the winner of the tournament on a local sports radio talk show the following morning after the ppv.

Wrestlemania IV is also the one that got me into wrestling. I had seen the boxes of the first few at my local video store and was excited by their covers, which made the events look dark and serious and legitimate (Mania 2 in particular had the actual match card as its cover, which for some reason felt really exciting even though I was only familiar with some of the participants). Then one night in 1988 my parents went out for the night and let me pick out a video to watch while I stayed home. I chose Wrestlemania 4 purely on the basis that it was 4 hours long. More bang for the buck! It didn't matter that the event was dogshit, to my nine year-old self it was amazing. I've been a diehard fan of the sport (not the WWE itself, which I quit watching years ago) ever since.

Yeah I expected this to rank #1. It had the tournament, a Hogan/Andre match, Warrior as he was beginning his rise, Monsoon and Ventura calling it, and foundation of Mega Powers.

I think it's an event that can be best viewed on a streaming service where you can pause and take a break and take it in at your own pace because the sheer number of matches in the tournament can be exhausting and a lot of them were bad or missable. There is good in the event, it's just poorly paced and has a lot of stuff no one cared about or objectively good on it's own.

I noticed after the WWF title match between Flair and Savage the crowd seemed drained. Otherwise yes it wasn't that bad.

Wrestlemania 8 had a stronger than usual undercard that I think a lot of people forget about. I also remember thinking that the Mania 8 mat had a really strong, loud sound to it that seemed to heighten the intensity of the matches. I think that Savage / Flair was WAY overbooked - there are like 5 people involved even before you count officials, and this easily could have been a classic one on one - but I suppose that it was a good payoff for a very involved storyline.

I didn't even think the match was that good. D Bry deserves to main event again and put on something better.

I still remember to this day a friend from middle school who recorded WM X7 and lend it to my brother, and it's just like you said. Everything fit so well, the pacing was perfect. Not even APA vs RTC or Chyna vs Ivory felt terrible to detract from the show. To this day, I think it has one of the best stages of all time.

But i think wrestlemania 36 did very well based on the limited restrictions we had. Aj vs taker. Cena vs Wyatt. And even Edge vs Orton being backstage was genius. Wrestlemania 37 should of been the 1 night like traditional. Or maybe 2 nights is the new thing. However this year’s wrestlemania was very good. Its top 5 for me. Apart from that its spot on accurate. Wait wheres wrestlemania 9. ?? I have nostalgia and the how Caesar palace theme was like heaven for me.

I watched XIX with my 2 week old daughter on my lap so it always holds a special place for me.

18 is overrated. It’s mainly a one match show. Hogan/Rock is a classic and Flair/Taker is a hidden gem but the rest of the matches on the card are mediocre and forgettable. The main event also could have been better if Stephanie McMahon wasn’t involved. It’s still a Decent Mania but the worst out of the 17-24 Manias to me.

Opinions are really devided for this match. Objectively, i would say this match it's not so good as the status it has.

It's not for everyone. And it's not a match I'd want to watch very often. But it was still a great match between two of the GOATs.
