Booker went from being just another mid-carder after the invasion to having SmackDown centered around him when he became King! I'm okay with Bret being #1 on this list since he won two tournaments but Booker was a much better king than Steve Austin and possibly even Randy.

I just miss the King of the Ring being a one night tournament from quarters, semi, and the final so it becomes a test of endurance as well with the winner getting a title shot at SummerSlam

This. I honestly missed it being a yearly thing. I would have KOTR returned on PPV. Have it be a 16 person tournament every year. Have the first round matches on episodes of RAW and SmackDown. Then save everything else starting from the quarter finals on the KOTR PPV and of course the finale being the main event. Maybe even a title match in between the quarter finals and semi finals.

I’m confused here, is it Best Wrestlers who WERE KotR or best use of the King gimmick? Cause if that’s the case it’s a 2 horse race between Macho Man and Booker. Bret and Kurt were the best wrestlers who were also KotR and Austin is the most successful wrestler who won KotR.

Austin took massive advantage of the Austin 3:16 promo, but who really thinks of him as a king? Nobody cared that he won that title. I do think of Owen Hart winning that tournament, wearing that monicker and running with it.

Not sure how anyone other than Mabel can be ranked lower than Billy Gunn. Even doing nothing as king like Muraco and Tito is better than Gunn’s run.

1.Austin -made his career 2. Macho Man -showed us he could do it all, him & Sherri was actually better than him & Elizabeth 3. Booker T -the best run of his career, that run made him a hall of famer

I actually have a top 3: 1)SCSA: No arguments needed here as the 3:16 speech propelled Austin to mega stardom 2) Brock Lesnar: It brings a certain level of credibility for the title itself as Lesnar comes into summerslam against rock for his coronation like an equal threatening force 3) Bret Hart: The 3 matches were a masterclass of wrestling Honorable mention: Booker T, it added a new layer to his gimmick, acting all regal before converting back to his usual demeanor

Kurt Angle actually made the King Of The Ring work for himself because the same year he won it was the same year that he became WWF Champion,Beating The Rock for the WWF Title at No Mercy only 3 months after winning the tournament.Stone Cold worked perfectly because he said the very line that made him a star and became the greatest star in WWE history who helped create one of the hottest eras in wrestling history known as the Attitude Era.Booker T worked perfectly as him making the concept apart of his character becoming known King Booker and winning the World Heavyweight Title only a few weeks after winning the tournament.Sheamus was a good King Of The Ring and he had an incredible rookie career with Sheamus also beating John Cena for the WWE Title in his first PPV match.

We used to have kings in Ireland according to Mythology. There's 4 provinces here. Leinster, Munster, Connacht and Ulster. Some really cool interesting stories if there if anyone's interested in that sort of thing. Irish Mythology is truly fascinating.

Go back through medieval times and you end up coming out the other side of historical rulers and end up in the far stranger realm of semi-mythical and outright mythical Kings of Ireland, from Conn Cétchathach who supposedly won a hundred battles to Labraid Loingsech who allegedly had horse's ears. Which, to be fair, isn't that unusual. Go back far enough - into the 'Dark Ages' in the case of Western Europe - and many long-established monarchies seem to go back to partially or wholly mythological figures. King Arthur in England (although it's not like subsequent monarchs tried to seriously claim any lineage from him), Fergus Mór in Scotland, Ragnar Lodbrok in Sweden and Denmark, Merovech in what became France, etc etc.

My money is on Macho King. The heat him and Sherri created was nuclear! I remember as a kid kid seeing Macho King and I hated his guts. Of course looking at the work as an adult, it was pure gold. I will also say that the KOTR 93 Hart vs Perfect match was one for the ages. Their Summer Slam match too was gold also. Start to feel old when I look at these matches, remember them and then realize it was 30 years ago 😳

Fun facts there's been an intotal of 9 wwe world champions that won kotr, 1. Steve Austin 2. Bret hart 3. Triple h 4. Brock lesnar 5. Edge 6. Sheamus 7. Macho man 8. Kurt angle 9. Booker T And all of the except for the First 6 of those stars also won a royal rumble as well, so 6 kotr royal rumble winners and only 3 have won a money in the bank as well, brock , edge, brock lesnar and Sheamus, WOW appsalutly amazing 👏

"Macho King" Randy Savage's 570 day reign as King Of The World Wrestling Federation is among the Greatest Of All Time, and indeed the most colorful ever. He did win the Original KOTR Trophy in 1987, duly noted. Honorable Mentions go out to Ernie Ladd, Harley Race, Haku, and Jim Duggan for all wearing the Crown for a brief period.

The worst thing about Ken's win was that he did good with it but he wasn't in wwe long enough for it to pay off long term and the main event was so stacked he didn't break out fully by himself. I can only imagine how well he would've done if he gave it a little bit more time in wwe.

Top 6 were all wrong to me. 6- Austin (iconic moment but didn't do much with the gimmick) 5- Angle (played up the gimmick but it was just one of many quick stepping stones to the title) 4- Owen (literally won the tournament to spite his older brother and was hilarious) 3- Bret (2x king, fit him like a glove, but...) 2- Macho King (crown turned him into a total pyscho in the best way, hands down best use of the gimmick until...) 1- King Booker (nobody has milked that gimmick better, it was a career renaissance for him)
