The fact he was genuinely hit in the balls by mistake, and kept going was fucking amazing And the fact they all kept a straight face truly shows how good these guys were as actors
Wow, one of the rare times Ray is on point with a situation. Most of the time he's an idiot but this time he was doing what was right and for love no less.
I don't think he's an idiot; I think he's a wimp who is sub-consciously always seeking the approval of others; especially women. When you have genuinely intelligent thoughts but are constantly concerned about offending those you express them to; you're going to be figuratively using "auto correct" on every word that comes out of your mouth because you'll find yourself hyper-focused on the mannerisms of the individual(s) you are talking to and you won't even be fully conscious that you're doing this. The resulting effect is a series of random words strung-together in an in-coherent mess that causes the person/people with whom you are speaking, to become even more offended than they probably would have been if you had just stated your opinion in a straight forward and honest fashion; regardless of whether or not it may offend someone. Ray comes across as a genuinely smart person here because this is one of the only times we have seen him fully let go of the will to care what others think and just state his true opinions; completely un-filtered by his insecurities.
@@drransom01 nah Ray is the worst one although he was right here in this instance any other time he's not. He's a lazy, selfish, wimpy mama's boy. He think's just because he works 8-10 hours a day that he's absolved from helping out at home. Debra does alot more work than Ray she takes care of the kids including; school runs, homework, extra curricular activities, parent/teacher meetings, doctors/dentist appointments, cooks, cleans, does laundry and other errands, shopping and manages the finances. On top of that she also has the mother in law from hell who constantly puts her down and makes her feel inadequate and Ray doesn't ever stand up for her and doesn't support her against Marie! He always puts his mummy first and even runs to her when he can't get his own way or wants to be pandered to! He never says thank you or shows Debra any appreciation for all she that does. Instead he moans when she asks for help that he's tired from work! Debra is stressed and frustrated from everything. It's not unreasonable of Debra to expect some help! It wouldn't kill Ray to maybe do bath and bedtime with the kids, maybe do the dishes and put some laundry just to make Debra's life a little bit easier and less stressed so that for once she could have some time to herself to relax. I don't always agree with Debra's behaviour but it's understandable why she can be a bit of a bitch to Ray when she puts up with so much crap from him and his mad family he even adds to her workload at times like when he put cheese in the suitcase then fucked off on a work trip knowing full well the cheese would go rotten and stink the house out forcing Debra to clean it and put it away just because he "wanted to win" the argument.
@@wickedwitchoftheeast88 Uh, kids are at school half of the day. How in the fuck does Debra do more work than Ray? "Managing the finances" = "controlling the finances". She gets to make every household and family decision. Whether it's the kids, the home, the money. Debra's a sociopath. She abuses the fuck out of Ray and always the plays the victim. No time to herself? The kids are at school all day lol. Household chores take 1-2 hours per day max. Ray's job entails watching as much sports as possible. It's 24/7. The fact that Ray was smart enough to choose a job he enjoys, while Debra chose one she hates and resents, is Debra's own fault. She also has a ready-made and willing babysitter, cook and house cleaner next door, who she does nothing but complain about. She could literally use Marie as such, but she only sees the negatives. Because she's a negative person. Debra never stands up for Ray. She always takes sides against him. She treats having sex with him as a chore and a treat for him, something he has to earn. And when the kids are grown, Debra won't even have to work a day for the next 20 years. Because Ray will be providing her with a cosy middle class existence.
This is one of those instances when both Marie and Debra need to take their own advice and just shut up. The more they open their big mouths, the more trouble they cause.
When I first saw this episode & Debra elbowing Ray below the belt, the way he responded...I CRIED LAUGHING. UNTIL THIS DAY this scene is still hilarious
Well Ray might be spineless when standing up for himself when his wife and mother are involved, but at least he’s not too afraid to do it for his brother’s sake. In fact his relationship with Robert is probably the most normal and healthy relationship he has. Sure they get jealous of each other and bicker but that’s normal for siblings, and when the chips are down, he and Robert would do anything for each other.
It's ironic what Marie is saying about manufacturing love when her relationship with Frank is even in her own words a disaster. She went through all the trouble of tricking Frank into settling down... and this is their marriage. And she still thinks that she's justified in interfering with her son's love life? Pat (Amy's mom) was right, she is a narcissist. It isn't even a matter of if she is right or wrong, just that it's her way above all else.
Exactly! Robert and Amy also eventually get back together thanks to fate and Robert finally realizing that Amy is truly the one, all without Marie’s interference.
Michael Philpott well when Ray does the right thing that’s why the show is called Everybody Loves Raymond. He’s also my favourite character. If I had a girlfriend that was like Debra I would just quit living with her. I don’t even have a girlfriend and I never had one. Romantic Relationships are difficult for some people.
@@michaelphilpott8860 elbowed and its to the nuggets and it was accidental Patricia wasn't supposed to elbow rays nuggets and a couple lines after were improvised
"You cannot manufacture love.' I thought of that line when they did that musical episode of the Flash. Iris and Barry were barely broken up for a day, no time to let it sink in or giving themselves space yet apparently that was enough for Music Meister to risk killing him in order to get them back together.
Ray often stood up for Robert. It was Robert who would never do that for Ray because Robert is a jealous loser who's whole life is praying for something bad to happen to Ray. Ray is a good brother. Robert is not.
This is where Debra and (unsurprisingly again) Marie are wrong. What were they expecting? That he will get jealous and try to intervene Amy’s date. They should know how Robert is. He has low self esteem issues and will be depressed over it and ultimately do nothing. Their plot has holes! If anything It makes Robert feel worse.
This definitely is one of the funniest episode in delivery and reaction of the cast members. Bravo to the cast. One of the best. As for the rest, this is one of the few episodes that Raymond was right and told Robert their crazy plan. Marie and Debra never should have done this. It is wrong to twist the emotions of someone. If Robert and Any truly belonged together, let it happen on its own. Don’t scheme to make it happen. Amy’s mother was right about Marie, she is a narcissist at the end of the day.
The simple truth is that there are women always think they are right when they are completely wrong. The moment later in the series when Robert admits that he thinks that Debra is the "perfect" he needs to look for, everything she said or did like this came back to haunt her.
The show would get cancelled if a guy did that, but apparently, men being abused is hilarious. It would have been hysterical if Ray grabbed her by the hair and drove his knee into her face. That's what equality should look like. The family jewels are off limits, no exceptions!!
Raymond we'll have you geeking out laughing out loud 📢 holding your stomach and thinking how can I come up why didn't I come up with that with my family 🤗😀😂🤣💞
Right on Thomas Gibbons! Let them feel involved. That’s what a show is supposed to do! They’re not hurting you! Loved watching this with my mother-in-law when she stayed with us. The only time we really connected in 30 years!
@@jadebarnes2716 lol "you men" congrats on outing yourself as a feminist. And do you not realize that like slapping and physical violence toward men on media is a big reason why it's acceptable and celebrated for women to do in real life?
Gianni shouldn't have gone out with her at least without asking him first. Also even though Amy didn't like Robert anymore, she should've said no too out of respect.
You don’t know what violence in a marriage is, so unless you experienced it then you have no place to say anything. I come from a family of abuse and one hit to the groin does not constitute abuse. I’m sick of men whining about how ray got abused by Debra with all the emotional abuse ray did to Debra through out the show and men like you didn’t think it was wrong. You think it was ok for ray to buy Debra some happy pills because she was going through menapause and didn’t want to hear how she felt. He was being an insensitive jerk and Debra should have left him for that. I know what you are going to say now, “it’s just a show, chill out; you are being too politically correct “. Well let me tell you something, I’m sick of whining men like you.
I am very uncomfortable with scenes like this, it is taboo for a man to lay a hand on a woman even in comedic situations because violence is not funny but I never understood why it is always funny for a woman to strike a man. Is there any part of the body a man can hit a woman that will be funny to anyone, No there isn't. Domestic violence on top of causing physical harm ultimately strips away human dignity so how is kicking a guy in the nuts not humiliating for him. Unless in self defence to save one self neither sexes should lay a hand on each other. I know it is just a comedy so everything is exaggerated but still had to vent. Sorry one last point this is one of the few times in the show/marriage that Raymond is actually the more sensible one and for his wife to punish him with physical harm when he is doing the right thing makes this scene even more cringe.
Gianni i think it is spelled. Never go out with a girlfriend of a man friend or a boyfriend of a woman friend, or any other significant or ex of a friend, like going out with your brothers or sisters ex
@@dutchGZ Yes, do you remember the episode when Amy tries to give Marie and Frank a marriage book? Marie then gives a speech about how they've been together for like 46 years because they've endured and plowed through. That's what modern society is forgetting. What's happening now? Divorce rates are going up and as I'm writing this it's like 70%. Familiy culture is dying.
marcopolo55 ikr people have been romantizee about love and mushy shiet those things fade after getting to know eachother for years and all the sudden either adultry r divorce
I wonder why is it funny in sitcoms when a man is hit in the private parts but not funny when a woman is hit . The latter is is harassment and domestic violence as it should be but the former is just fun
Because feminism has conditioned everyone to believe that it's ok to hit men, no matter what the reason is. Unfortunately, I doubt it will ever change...☹️
It isn't funny to me and I am a woman. That kind of crap makes women look bad. My hubby has said and done many things I didn't like over the years but I would never do that to him. I think I might be tempted if he cheated on me, but even then i find it very low class, like spitting.
@@michaelphilpott8860 WHAT? First of all, I 'm not even married(ETA, never have been), and second of all I consider that, and MUCH of Debra's behavior UNACCEPTABLE!
