Dragon's Dogma 2 released yesterday and many players are unhappy. From major performance issues, bugs, and crashes, to the newly added day one microtransactions selling currency and convenience items.
Funny how Baldur’s Gate launched without Denuvo and was a massive success. They sold over 10 million copies without needing to bloat their single-player game with DRM.
Funny also how BG has pure-paid exclusive items that nobody seems to mention, while DD has things obtainable in-game and people cry foul. Almost like you pick and choose which company to fellate arbitrarily. Pathetic.
Funny also how BG has pure-paid exclusive items that nobody seems to mention, while DD has things obtainable in-game and people cry foul. Almost like you pick and choose which company to support arbitrarily, because you're a pathetic liar.
The thing with Denuvo is that it’s been proven that it worsens overall performance by anywhere from 5-20%, them adding it to a game that already has performance issues is genuinely braindead, way to go Capcom, way to go.
i mean using Denuvo is one thing, but what Larian does is one another level. They didn't use any DRM ind any of their games. I could always play their games with my firends as long as one of us bought the game. We don't have a lot of budget in our firend group and this is just nice and fair.
According to ACG, the store was hidden in his review copy. If I were a content creator that got a copy early and did a review, I would be pretty mad that they put my integrity on the line with deception. I've seen a lot of people mad that reviewers never mentioned the microtransactions but it's my understanding that they had no idea and Capcom is definitely not going to stick their neck out to absorb any more blame.
It is as if Capcom knew this would happen so opted for hiding the store during reviewer period. Well they do have the foresight but apparently didn't do anything about it in the end, quite masochistic.
Don’t feel bad for pirating games or movies all the grunts got paid a salary already doesn’t matter how well the game sells the people who actually did the work won’t profit either way
It's not like they tell you if you pay you own the game outright, you are agreeing to pay for a license to play the game. Pirate of you want lol, but it is definitely still stealing.
The main issue I see is, sure, the things you can buy in shop for an advantage are minor, but this is how it starts. As soon as things like this become "acceptable" then the next wave of convenience dlcs come out, to attempt to become normalized, and so on and so on. It's a constant pushing of the envelope that we should expect from the industry. I remember hearing "what's the big deal? its just horse armor" when that first came out, and ultimately we now can see the effects of what that has had on the industry. And then they add the cost to $80 to try to normalize paying even more at launch for the "standard", non disadvantaged version is what really gets me. Adding to the fact that none of this information was even understood until right at launch when they threw up all the dlc at the last possible second and it's just disgusting nickle and diming that really makes me sick to see anyone defending it.
Exactly! 100% definitely what is going to happen! And that is the entire point of gatekeeping your games! This is only the beginning. Things ARE going to get worse if everybody just accepts it and shrugs it off as not being important because you "don't need to buy it, you can grind for it". People like that are the cause of this getting worse and worse. What do people think is going to happen when they sell those microtransaction items and make tons of money off of stupid people? Are they going to reduce the microtransactions? Or are they going to greatly increase them. And even deliberately handicap players that won't purchase them. Ignoring this problem is not going to make things better, or even have them stay the same as they are now! It will only make things (much) worse!
Capcom has never done that, and wouldn’t expect them to. These MTX are in line with all of their recent games. But yah, it contributes negatively to the norms in the industry, and definitively is a bad thing in general. Also, just terrible optics for Capcom. Nice to see a balanced take on this. The levels of misinformation and dishonest (or grossly negligent) journalism around this was insane.
So basically what you are saying is that they have pissed everyone off for completely or almost no reason as there is be little to no gain from the DLCs because they are not worth buying. Fantastic! I hope this backfires so much that people responsible for this fiasco lose their job for their greediness.
@@kaizer-777thats effectively the whole issue Though I do think that if dragon dogma 2 ran well and had a stronger story I think this issue wouldn’t have resulted in a review bombing Similar to devil may cry 5 and monster hunter world
@@KingQuueefIf people in Helldivers can ree because someone else that they will never see might be using a weapon that they think is overpowered in their own game, DD2 players can get mad that they have pay for progress transactions. I personally don't care if someone spends $10 to start the game with a couple of pawns that can hard carry them like getting power leveled in an MMO but it absolutely effects the overall integrity of the game. Not to mention that you have to wonder if the resources they sell had drop rates reduced just to entice a purchase. Like Ubisoft cutting the experience gain in Ass Creed games so they can sell a 50% exp booster.
Tip for the permanent jail key. That is a quest item you will lose if you finish the quest. Once you get it find the npc that makes duplicates and make a copy to keep forever. That's a thing you did with may items in original game as well.
Is there even a reason to ever used the Gaol key again? I unlocked it for the quest and it's never been locked since. It's my goto entryway to the castle
the gaol key? You actually can't duplicate that key. I tried to. But the npc who duplicates items sells it. Just not sure if his key stockpile refreshes.
Thank you for the balanced take on this. The amount of misinformation and dishonest / gross negligent journalism around this has been absolutely insane.
I think you undersell how microtransactions change the incentives for developers. First, if game developers are trying to sell you QoL upgrades, the game's QoL is artificially lower than it would otherwise be. Mtx isn't just players paying for convenience, it is developers making the game more inconvenient than necessary. Second, it's the only reason Denuvo has been added to a single player game. Third, it's the reason Capcom saves your character on their servers, because otherwise, we'd see mods or cheats introduced that would offer for free the QoL upgrades Capcom wants to sell. So the anti-cheat is really anti-mod.
All the resident evil remakes and dmc5 and mortal combat all have super meaning less mxt idk why this game is such a surprise in that department but I am glad about the backlash this game is receiving it’s about time people spoke up on something that’s been happening for years it’s just a little weird that this is the point of contention for a game with many other more prevalent issues
Exactly there is no reason I will ever buy or support this game for all of these reasons. I have no problem with a live service game making money off of MTX to support ongoing development of the product. This is just a pure money grab and ruining the game to do it.
considering it's a feature of the first game, and something that was mentioned repeatedly as being intentional in interviews and something you should watch out for, literally anyone complaining about it is just being an idiot.
I think he is really missing this point. The drama was not about mtx. it was mostly because of this. On PC this is possible but requires an unncessary workaround. The main reason why this torpedo was shot because in the past asian devs started to monetize NG+ also in the west and capcom sells mtx to change cosmetic of your character. I think these three issues came together and started this drama. Not only the mtx itself.
@@Choryrth It doesn’t matter if it’s intentional or if it was in a game that’s over a decade old. That still doesn’t make it right. You’re the idiot for defending such an outdated practice
Imagine having a game that could stand among giants such as Elden ring and baldur's gate. Then on launch day throw it all out because they want 2 dollars more from a player.
Seriously. This game could’ve attracted a good amount of players. The greed is unreal. You could’ve just made money by making a good game that everyone plays
This game was made for the fans of the first game (except for the microtransactions even tho you can ignore it ) and even this guy has said that the game is not for everyone, and thats ok? Not every game should be for everyone. Elden ring difficulty is not for everyone? The gameplay of BG3 is not for everyone as well, theres people who like to have more control and more action than the turn base in BG3 and thats ok!. I'm not okay with 70€ singleplayer games having MTXs, but for me the bigger offender is how poorly the game is optimized on PC. If smaller AA-studios can release their games without any performance issues and with fraction of production value, then there's no excuse why these big AAA companies couldn't do it as well. There's just no excuse for that anymore, now that these smaller indie studios have shown that games can be optimized at launch.
What a phenomenal vid! First time watching this channel, and I subbed. I almost never sub to anyone anymore. Very well spoken and informative ^_^ Thanks!
My save file became corrupted somehow. I went to load from the last save and also the inn and was given the send crash report. Without the ability to make a new character I was just stuck with a 70 dollar nothing game. (edit) It was on PC and I refunded it. I'm no longer going to jump through hoops to try to get a game to work.
Luckily it looks like they are adding the ability to restart i think cause they did put out a notice on steam the says "We are looking at adding a feature to the Steam version of the game that will allow players that are already playing to restart the game. We will announce more details as soon as we can."
Yeah no, only if you're a complete bumbling idiot that has no idea how technology works. Literally deleting your files scraps your character, let alone cleanly uninstalling the game. Am I all for multiple character slots? Of course. Am I for you being a blathering idiot? No.
This is why I don't preorder games anymore, regardless of how much I'm looking forward to them. I'll see how the game evolves and revisit my decision to buy it or not at a later date.
Sorry for you, the game is really really good. A must have for sure. Evolve in what? For the performance maybe... But on my side it's not a problem. Don't judge people that pre order, they maybe not have a potatoe and don't really care about performance at release day
@@XxKidnoffxXhe's not judging anyone and you seem very defensive for no reason. one save per character is fine, no multiple characters and no new game option is asinine. Combined with poor performance and microtransactions, this is *not* sitting at the cool kid's table with Larian and FromSoft

my problem with the one save per character is not able to scrap that one save to restart the campaign. because they have it as a cloud save, if you're not happy with the character or initial progress you made, you cannot start over. you have to keep playing until the new game plus. very restrictive.
The onus was on Capcom to be transparent about what their plans were in regard to MTX. They communicated nothing and now they have a PR disaster on their hands. These companies never learn.
Every single Capcom game, the past 10+ years have had them. The Resident evil remake that everyone seems to love has them, Monster Hunter games has them. If you were suprised by them, that is your fault, not capcom.
@@Darthturk112sounds like great business advice. In the real world where you have big money implications you leave nothing to chance. Thanks for your reply.
You make a very good point and now i understand better atleast the microtransaction alegations but then theres still the preformance issues and what for me is just insane, who in Capcom tought it was good idea to not let ppl start a new save or have varios saves files, i mean ive been playing games for over 30 years i have never ever seen something like that.
People putting up with the performance issues, are just continuing the cycle of broken releases. If you don't refund the game and hit them where it hurts, it wont stop. This is exactly why I don't pre-order or buy games day 1 anymore.
The MAIN ISSUE here is that the game no longer allows you to start from scratch with a New Game once you already have a save. The first game had it just fine. Imagine, the NEW GAME option disappears from the main menu once you've played the game at least ONCE. And don't tell me you can delete your save manually. That's stupid af. And going by their public statement equivalent of "We'll think about adding New Game on the main menu." you should know by now that they intended for the results. What next? A game that you have to buy again after finishing it once? Oh, wait. There's already a thread about somebody who bought the game now being unable to install and play their copy because they installed the game one too many times and DRM decided it's time for them to buy the game again a.k.a. pay for a renewed DRM licensing.
I believe it’s even worse than that, it’s not they installed it multiple times. It’s they changed the proton compatibility which for Linux devices allows them to use Microsoft Windows software on the fly. So because they tried to figure out which proton layer would give the best optimised experience for DD2 on the steam deck it locked them out the game. Denuvo seems to think each instance of a different compatibility layer (proton) was a separate instance of the game being run on a different system (hardware). So even though you already bought a single player game and use it on the exact same hardware and system you can be locked out of the game you bought. If buying isn’t owning, it’s not piracy, capcom don’t own it either.
My problem is I bough high end pc this summer. Rtx 4090, newest i5 intel cpu, 32 gig ram 6400, ssd disk and so much more. Yet ALL videos in the game gives me 1 frames per seconds (lag so much I do not know what happens even). And this is on high end pc.. And no I do NOT run raytracing or max everything. I think maybe it was an executive decision to add micro transactions but it was up to the devs to pick what to put in shop, hence why the things are needlessly put in.
It doesn't matter what's in the shop the FACT that there is micro transactions in the game in first place is not good. People don't want that shit in their games. I know I don't. The first game was fun I had to do a quest on ng+ to buy ferrystones for 10k rather than the extremely limited 20k that they sold for elsewhere but after many playthroughs they released the premium version of the game and it had an infinite ferrystone. I foresee it happening again, after players have the time to explore the world there will at least be a DLC for unlimited fast travel.
it's not about if you can get those things within the game, it's about microtransactions becoming a standard in video games... and yes I know... microtrasactions are no new thing, but they cross boundaries with time... at first it was just for skins... now for changing appearance and fastravel... next you'll have to pay for saving your game lol
Spot on. Just wait until you don't own your games everything will be a subscription basis. I think GTA 6 will start with that and the rest of the industry will follow. $150 to play for 3 months and then you have to top your subscription
You don't have to pay for the fast travel though. That's the thing. What "crossed the boundaries" are lies created by people hate farming, and people spreading those lies. People saying that things in this game are paywalled, which isn't the case at all. In fact, these are the least scummy of microtransactions I've seen. Yet this game got all the hate. According to FightingCowboy it seems the review info sent out varies from creator to creator, so there is no definitive way to know what Force got sent
Hey Force. I was hoping you could explain about the lack of talking about the DLC in the original review when its come out that in the press kit information there was a pdf called "Paid Items" and that only 2 out of 25 reviews mentioned them after reading it. Did youtubers get a similar one? or simply a review code? Is the press kit different from those websites?
Frankly I rarely ever open the Review Guide materials publishers send out. Typically they're full of pointless "tips", riveting information like: “Be sure to block enemy attacks to avoid damage” or “take your time and enjoy the adventure”. But beyond that, they also tend to spoil the experience of playing a game, and discovering it’s systems and features for the first time. For those reasons, when working on Review's, I almost never read the Review Guide documents. This circumstance changes that though, because you're correct, that info absolutely would have been important enough to include in the initial Review. I'm mad at myself for missing it. Will be sure to be more aware in the future.
@@ForceGamingYT That makes perfect sense, and i can understand not wanting to be spoiled. Very informative video but frankly, knowing if a cash-shop item is easily obtainable in game is not what matters. What will be their next step ?
To me this game feels like a modern remake of DD1, more like an expansion rather than new standalone sequence to the original - an expensive one for what it delivers apparently...
I agree with the remake feel from what I’ve seen It feels slower and a bit heavier which isn’t inherently bad but it leaves me in a position of “why wouldn’t I just play the original at triple the frames per second”
exactly. this game feels like a mod modded by modders. Even skyrim feels better. Im still in shock. the audacity to sell this game for more than 30€ still disgust me. I don't really agree. It's way more. A lot of QoL and change. I was expecting to see the exact same map, and it's not. Physics is WAY WAY better and impressive too. Yes a lot of things are the same, of course, we want Dragon's Dogma sequel, it need to have the good things from the 1. Combat system, pawn system and so on. The bigger problem is unable to restart halfway in game on Steam for now, they should had that at launch. (Someone will find out the cat is cuter and want to become one after starting) It sure is better without the microtransaction, but same could be argue that people should able to pay more to make their game easier. Especially people who come in a year later, it is much more unlikely they get RC from Pawns as less players will be playing. For those who don't want that could just play offline mode the true single player game, and non of the microtransaction really matter at all. As Force had confirm full playthrough seems to be the same as DD1.
I didn’t look at the pre-order stuff. Is it possible some of these microtransactions were pre-order bonuses? Several games have made pre-order bonus items available as standard microtransactions after release to address people getting upset about exclusive items.
Yes, I got the deluxe edition and because of that, I can't even buy most the microtransactions because I already own them, they've just broken them down into individual pieces. They're a one-time purchase, because all of this stuff can be obtained within the game with relative ease. People are freaking out over nothing.
One save slot is very much intentional to the theme and story of the game. The fact that you can't delete it is real problem though, and they've come out with a statement that they're working on adding a way to delete the save.
@@waj9876 I hadn't heard they'd stated that yet, that's great news! And yes, also right that having only one save per character actually helps the game because every decision has weight and is important, there's no save scumming and undoing something you don't like.
You can delete your save in the steam user data folder for dd2. Make sure to turn on could save or it will load your old save again. Keep a copy of your save data in separate folder if you want to have multiple characters.
the lure for harpys can be important if there is a chest with a strong item that only a harpy can bring you to, but there are no harpys around. the loot in this game is static like dark souls. there are some items locked behind grabbing harpys leggs and useing them as a flying mount for a bit.
Are you aware that there is no new game option in the main menu. This means that you have to manually delete your save file to change your character or start fresh.
Folks are saying that you cannot delete the save file at all. From what ive heard the save file is backed up to their cloud and if deleted locally it just re-appears from the cloud, So there is NO restarting at all.
The only justification they could come up with that barely holds for the micro transactions is the pawn servers - but the fact that the release was riddled with bugs and poor PC optimization just nulifies that - for a 70-90$ game... thats just pitiful
@@Loyal_Lion but they told you can get them even in the store page tho? Literally they put it in their store "this item is obtainable in-game" I guess people just doesn't read anymore

If you are playing in console, just create another profile. With this, you can also share your pawn with your girlfriend's and farm Rift Crystals between you
To be fair I did expect this game to run better considering the RE Engine has been incredibly performant in every RE game thus far. I've been very impressed with how well they ran considering how good these games looked. Like I was getting 40-80% more frames than I would expect for games of this fidelity. This is not the case with Dragon's Dogma 2. Now, I understand that this is the first open world RPG in the RE Engine (to my knowledge) but still... And considering I get very little difference in FPS with raytracing on/off is a testament to the poor optimization of this game (though I think being locked 30fps on next gen consoles is enough to tell). The save game issue is just bizarre. I understand they have some kind of philosophy but it really does just come across as a way to force people to use microtransactions/buy the premium edition. It would be kind of like if State of Decay kept their weird "one-save, no savescum, permadeath" system but also sold survivor packs and character revives as microtransactions. At that point you'd have to question if the "no savescumming" and "permadeath" system was really about the philosophy of a brutal post apocalyptic zombie survival game, or just an excuse to milk players for real money.
It's not an issue of ray tracing or not, the game is mostly CPU bound on PC due to the large number of NPCs with complex behaviors. Crashes are of course unacceptable, though I suppose I'm lucky that I haven't had any in 4 hours yet (though I did have several in the character creator, ironically.) But since the big performance issue on PC is demanding NPCs, I doubt it will get much better. I agree about the one save thing, it's just odd and a poor design choice.
As far as makeing a new character goes they did put out a notice on steam the says "We are looking at adding a feature to the Steam version of the game that will allow players that are already playing to restart the game. We will announce more details as soon as we can."
@@unhappymeal5652Didn't the NPC's do that in the first game too? Why does it suddenly need 20 times more cpu power for the same thing compared to 10 years ago?
Funny little thing about the harpy lure. It's not to fight Harpy's, it's mostly a traversal. You use it to summon Harpy's to grapple onto and fly up to hard to reach chests.
So far the worst of it for me is keyboard binding of which they simply do not have good solutions for. Only about half the keys of a full sized keyboards can be used and you can't use alt+ for example. Once i got into the game this seemed a bit less of an issue, however will absolutely be an issue for many especially potentially somewhat handicapped players. For a AAA $70 game this should have not been an issue on release. Hope that gets on the short list. That and obviously starting the game over with another character.
Game is really fun with lots of hidden mechanics. I'm 14 hours in. It's been wonderful. But I don't despise capitalism like most people are conditioned to do. I'll spend the extra 3 bucks. I'll spend 20 to not have to read these whiny butt hurt comments. Oh...but I guess that's optional...LIKE MICROTRANSACTIONS in a single player game.
@@larscincaid6348 Like I agree with your general point, but I don't like the way you're arguing it. I don't think I'd like you if I met you, I wouldnt hate you or anything, I'd think "This guy was kinda wierd" yk. Saying people are conditioned to hate a certian organisation of our economy (I'm pretty sure that would take a thesis to explore properly) and that you're down to waste money for lols? to show that you have the disposable income? Do you think these arguements are effective in convincing your opposition that your points have some validity? I genuinly think its just an emotion based comment that did not ernestly try to change somone elses opinion, but maybe thats just me :)
@@larscincaid6348 what a cringey ass strawman. People aren't conditioned to hate capitalism. They dislike absolute scummy business practices. Hiding all of the DLC purchases until after reviewers have given their input and then springing it? Pay-gating mechanics that should be in the game? Hm. Big thonker right there.
@@popcornyumm all good points. I was too emotional in my response pushing back against mob thinking. People enjoy this game but attacking for the sake of attacking everything these days is just trendy and not authentic. And most people like me...cuz I'm really nice... usually.
@@Maulth time saving devices that you can buy OR just organically acquire in game. But you refuse to acknowledge THAT , don't you. That would mean NOT being a victim.
Let me clear up the use of the Harpy lure. It's used to get to high places, we learned this in one of the game's trailers when we saw a guy grabbing onto the Harpy and getting to a high place using the grab feature. Thank you for reading!
It seems to me like developers and the people in charge of making the game were told, put microtransaction or else, and they put in the most redundant items possible to have them stop nagging. So long as getting anything boughtable relatively easily in game there is no problem in my opinion.
OR (and just putting this out there) they wanted to be true to the original and that included a cash shop with micro transactions like they did with the console releases of Dragons Dogma and the Dark Arisen DLC
@@d.e.l6904 Huh? I am sry but DD1 had "new game" button and game did not have Denuvo, so was easily moddable. Save manager was the most popular mod for the game btw. I am sry but you won't be able to explain what's the reason behind not having "new game" button in this game except for them pushing appearance change for 2 dollars in that way. Like sure, you can get that book in the game, but it aint obvious. In fact you won't even be able to explain why there is an additional step required to change your appearance in a form of that book except for, well, making it a microtransaction. But also are you ignoring the fact that Capcom eventually removed them from the game cuz, well, people did not like that lmao?
@@TheFinagle”it’s okay to put scummy and terrible things into a product since a prior product did it” Okay so why aren’t we making buildings with asbestos and lead paint anymore?
The MTXs don't even make sense which makes Capcom look even worse than adding useful MTXs. You can earn all of them anyways which means they're targeting the lazy and ignorant unknowing players.
capcom mtx always has been like this, literally exist to please shareholder/higher execs and nothing else. They even put it in the mtx store description "IT'S OBTAINABLE IN-GAME" and you can only buy it ONCE for crying out loud, after that you can't buy it anymore
Thanks for breaking down how mindbogglingly useless the shop items are. Peaple make such a huge deal out of the microtransactions, without understanding what those items do.
I didn't see any reviewers mention the absolutely horrible FOV on PC, the terrible performance on PC, the 1 save file - 1 character bullshit or the MTX shit. Granted, I think the MTX was a swifty they pulled on release and reviewers didn't necessarily know, but they know NOW and there's still silence from some reviewers.
to be fair, the 1 save 1 character thing was blatantly said, repeatedly, by the developers in interviews. it's also something that was in the first game. so that one isn't on the developers, it's on the idiots not looking into the game they are buying to see what it is.
reviewers often put disclaimers on what platform they play at, and for those that played on pc (or even ps5) have mentioned concerns on performance especially on cities. and the 1 save file - 1 character has been mentioned as well, but may have been dismissed since its a continuing mechanic from ddda. I would recommend you try the gameranx and outsidexbox channel reviews for high-profile games like this one :)
I agree. I always vote with my wallet abd refuse to support any parasitic coperate money grabs poisning gaming with micro transaction and p2w. But im so torn as i was looming forward to DD2 and i know i would play without touching the cash shop. I just dont want my purcharse to show support for them slipping in such a gross practise. S
I mean you say that but DD1 had the same cash shop 14 years ago. So is it really getting "worse" or are you all just having a fit because you cheaped out on your CPUs?
Oh wow... I just realized that in the background footage you at some point you have to fight an ogre in town...lol what does that run at like 2 fps, I have a 4070super and I get like 10fps in towns.
@@ClickStab Clearly the GPU is overcompensating for the tiny CPU :p (the reason is this game is very CPU heavy, especially with multiple NPC's around like towns)
@ExileTwilight I went 1080p and turned on the balanced rendering or whatever the setting was called, and now I'm solid 60+ fps in the main town. Still looks great, but hopefully there is some optimization in the works so I can go back to 1440p lol
The worst part about the microtransactions is that they are entirely needless, and it just puts a terrible optic on the game itself. People aren't going to take the time to realize it is all obtainable in-game. It is a justified perception though a bit overblown
To be fair, if the micro transactions were actually good items such as ferrystones that would've been an even bigger shit storm in itself, atleast there's little to no fomo knowing that the items aren't important and can be easily obtained
@@BrotherSham still doesn't excuse the shitty greedy attempt by CAPCOM's fat cat. And the dev for going along with it even if they tried to minimise it.
Performance is my issue. Got a pretty solid pc set up but had no ground textures straight at title screen. I’m sure there is a way to fix it but I refunded and will wait for some fixes to the pc port
oh not the whole selling save slots thing isnt an issue to you? huh. Interesting. Maybe ill develop an RPG thats really good BUT you have to pay for MANA and HEALTH REGEN yes yes im sure i can come up with more im sure you wont mind smh
wow someone with a brain thank you all they have to do is take those two things out of the store make them normal and viola! But most comments here are saying the MTX arent an issue only performance and that they are really enjoying the game. So expect more MTX just like this and then some. Guess those ''pay for bullets for your gun'' MTX are coming quicker than we thought
I mean in this instance i dont think that particular adage is true, cause the 1st game had all the same stipulations minus the Microtransactions to solve them. It was just a design decision for better or for worse.
At this point these companies have to be doing this on purpose. It’s like they’d rather have people discuss their games in a negative manner than to have the game spoken highly of.
that saying doesn't work here, because there isn't a problem to begin with. instead they are just selling the solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
If you watched the video or played the game you'd know buying the mtx make the game worse and ruin the balence making the game trivial. Dmc 4 and 5 have the same mtx and buying them also just ruins the balence
Just to let you know camping kits do in fact break. They seem to have a chance when attacked while sleeping. I have blown through a lot of kits as I was experimenting with some mechanics and not clearing out enemies at all. Even the elite kits you start to find later will just disappear from your inventory once they break. Also worth noting the explorer's camping kit is for sale at certain shops. I did buy the deluxe edition so this may affect it. The travelling merchant in the very first camp you start in near the inn sells them.
@@ExileTwilight Damn that’s crazy lucky lol I was sleeping over and over though surprised me when it told me that I needed a camping kit to sleep right after sleeping the first time it happened
I think the bigger issue is how Capcom is not being transparent in a lot of things from microtransaction to certain mechanics such as not being able to restart via new game. Asking for player data (e.g. age) while not being forthcoming themselves is concerning for their future games.
I'm having mixed feelings about this game. I am enjoying it so far, but the microtransactions was an unnecessary move from Capcom. It's a single player game and full priced... Strangely enough, I'm not having any performance issues yet. This is weird because my rig is only mid-tier. I even have some high resource settings on such as water reflection and high quality textures.
So your enjoyment of the game is being affected by something outside of the game? The game is still the game whether there was a store or not, it would make no difference.
@@ProjectMoff You missed the main point of this guy's video, dude. The main problem is giving them an inch and they begin taking a mile. Microtransactions are also not "outside" of the game. It's in the game. Besides, I didn't say I hated the game. I'm just having mixed feelings because of past experiences with devs ruining games with microtransactions.
What I don't understand is why would Capcom make these absolutely useless microtransaction? Hardly anyone is going to buy them but it has caused a massive pr disaster. So why?
Because for every gamer who takes the time to understand how pointless the microtransactions are, there are 10 players who download the game based on the Steam page alone, see an in-game shop & won't think twice about spending a few bucks extra on assumed convenience. Basically, Capcom know people will fall for it so it's easy money.
Because they've been in every single major Capcom game made within the past 10 years. Monster Hunter: World, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry: V. All had this shit. Hell, so did the original Dragon's Dogma. I agree it's stupid they do this but I don't understand why people are so shocked it's in THIS game.
So basically from what i looked at these mtx are one time purchase. All things that are available in the deluxe version of the game, but instead it allows you to buy the digital deluxe items seperately if you want to get some of them if you hadnt bought the deluxe version. In that sense i dont see anything wrong with that.
What makes me mad is the mtx stuff overshadowing the main problem for me the abysmal performance. You can ignore microtransaction, not your game running at 28 fps with massive (and expensive) rigs
Probably the best video i have seen covering this topic. The store items were available in Dogma 1. So i was not surprised at all to see the store in Dogma 2. Honestly Dogma 2 just feels like a Dogma 1 reboot. I was disappointed to not have the Eternal Ferry stone from DD:DA but its not a deal breaker.
Just FYI, the exploration tent you get from the pre-order bonus / dlc shop can also be found in-game. I spotted it yesterday from a merchant in the nameless village. So it's not much of a convenience item buy unless you consider maybe the first few hours of the game that it takes to access the thing enough of a burden to label this item a convenience. Additionally, the harpy lure's major function I'm pretty sure is a means of traversal. You can grab onto them to fly short distances, maybe to some out of reach chest somewhere. But there are skills you can use to do this as well so it's ultimately an option, not a necessity. Capcom's dlc shop feels like it was put in to satisfy some suit in corporate, since none of it makes much sense at all. Dig your content btw. Nice clarification vid.
If as some people say these mtx are so harmless, why they weren't mentioned before game released? ( Apparently review copies sent to "influencers" and press indicated that it's the case but none of the reviewers bothered to tell us). Also Denuvo spyware is attached to THIS SINGLE PLAYER GAME, that can explain at least some of the performance issues. Pity that peeps sailing the high seas will have better experience than paying customers.
Because they've been in every single major Capcom release for the past 10 years. Monster Hunter: World had it, Resident Evil had it, and Devil May Cry: V had it. Though I absolutely agree they shouldn't be in the game, I just don't understand why people are so shocked that it is. Even the first Dragon's Dogma had it.
@@waj9876 Can't argue with your argument. So in no internet term, I yield. But it clearly looks like people expected better. I'll still stand by my opinion that Denuvo is a useless spyware that has no place in games, especially single player ones.
@@phantombigboss8429 I'm glad you having fun bro. The issues I have are not gameplay related. Poor optimization, lack of proper mouse and keyboard support plus r-tarded mtx is what is bugging me. Have a prayer hands down for us PC players, we still paid the same price for the game.
I have not tested this, because it costs rift crystals, but I read that you can only buy in game the appearance change twice, after that it's not available anymore.
