Matt is unreal, was already killer back at Berklee, walking by him in the ensemble rooms was wild. I hope he starts his own Space Jazz Pajamas brand, I'd buy at least a few.
Watched the man love last night and I’m convinced he’s a robot in fact the whole band is new AI technology that’s been slowly leaked into our worlds since the early 80s
Saw him at a drum clinic over 10 years ago, barely anyone there, amazing and instructive performance, won a drumstick keychain in the raffle, good times
I’m guessing Matt Greiner (ABR), and Matt Halpern (Periphery). Been believing they’ve been the Matt drummer trifecta for some time. Mad respect for your drumming too Craig and None of them come close to your drag game 🔥…
7:03 look how long the left kick pedal beater keeps swinging, mans got that spring tension cranked up a bit. Also shout out to Matt like 5 years back for replying to an email I sent him asking about double bass technique.
Stickagram Beanie just came in last night, Mate the fucking quality of the hat is actually insane for the price. I thought you were just taking the piss when you said it was top notch quality, considering the lower end price, but Im beyond satisfied with it. Worth every penny of the cross Atlantic shipping. Genuinely fellas, if you're considering grabbing some merch it's legit good shit
The best tip I have for the slide technique, is think of it like the heel toe just not as extreme. So the first stroke is almost like a toe stroke, the second is the slide up to a heel-ish stroke. Dunno might help some people, might not.
It's Not only Matt tho ...there's Craig, Chris, Anup, Tony, Ben( no pun )Troy, Steve Mike, Jake; Terry, Elliot ..i could go on for hours. there is always someone better than yourself.
I saw them a week ago going into the show believing he was the best drummer of his generation. I left the show as a legit disciple. Seeing him perform these new songs and seeing his improvement is both inspirational and scary. EDIT: I'm pretty sure I was at that second solo's show.
Hey Craig, if you want to learn "feet" you are still young enough to really dive in and male private lessons worth it. See if Matt will teach you? Or go a level up and see if Virgil will do lessons, I know he does have students...you will have to do it remotely but he will give you the answers you are looking for ans save you years of trial and error. Also, you could go to Mangini or even Lang he has pretty good feet but an even better understanding of technique...Spend the $$ and get the knowledge and then shed it and then you wont have these negative feelings anymore!
