Everyone Makes These 30 MISTAKES in Animal Crossing New Horizons 

I forgot where i learned it, but i always have a completely blank tile in my designs' folder, like i erased all the colour and left it see through. Now i can use this transparant tile around flowers to keep them from spreading without having a visible border. I also use it behind buildings or in awkward spots to prevent money trees or other items (mushrooms, lost items, snow balls ect) from spawning where i dont them to. It has really helped me a lot!

literally every time i sit at my desk to play Wolfenstein or something, i always end up playing Animal Crossing for four or 5 hours instead. just finally gave it a rest (until tonite, anyway. winter nights in ACNH are great. we have had some snow flurries but i want the real deal!). and this was the first vid to pop up when i opened youtube. thanks for your dedication to making daily AC content. 😎

I think the reason some people feel bad about their islands is because some RU-vid ACNH channels criticize some islands they visit in a dream. I make my island for my villagers. My villagers are spoiled on my island, they like that it is easy to navigate.

Thank you for saying that! My island is so bare but it’s because I’m a minimalist and I just feel stressed when I feel like I gotta dress it up. So I’ve calmed down and I just do a few things and just enjoy the empty spaces running around freely. It is a getaway island after all so sometimes less it more.

I recently reset my first island after being burned out on ACNH for 3 years and it resparked the love I had for it. I think it’s all about why you’re resetting. Are you resetting because you don’t want to change your island but you’re burned out and still want to play? It’s a good idea to reset then. Are you resetting because you have comparison envy? Get off Pinterest and RU-vid, and focus on YOUR island, just make it 100% yours. Your island is going to be someone else’s dream island, no matter how ugly you think it is

Am I the only one who doesn't mind a flower infestation? I have a lot of flowers on my island and am using my extras as placeholders while I try to create a rock garden, but I genuinely don't mind combing through the island to move/remove all the flowers. it's kinda calming, repetitive, and easy. I even have the beautiful island ordinance and I still don't mind. I don't know, maybe that's strange lol

I’ve got great advice, especially for the current winter season. If your island is cluttered like mine, BEWARE OF SNOWBALLS!!! I have my flowers VERY controlled and, aside from the smattering around my island, I have a special garden area where I display one of every type and color flower as well as a bed of gold roses. Since I have little ground space that’s not occupied by pathing or some item, the snowballs tend to spawn in my flowers. If you leave them there, they’ll actually kill off whatever flower they’re sitting on top of. Which is great if you want to get rid of flowers, but in my case, I don’t want that. I don’t know if it affects the vegetables the same way (I’ve also had them show up in my vegetable garden) but I would assume they do. I either move them out or break them so I don’t lose what I have. Just a tip if you’re keeping things controlled. Snowballs can destroy what you’ve worked so hard for.

I literally just restarted my island a couple weeks ago. Not gonna lie, I shed a tear deleting my old (first) island. But I have no regrets, I'm having a lot of fun with my new island and the new terrain has given me more inspiration. The idea of flattening my island was more over-whelming to me than starting over.

If you go to the dlc island you can find characters you've built homes for on the beach toward the back of the island. Talking to them will often result in unlocking some element used in their home.

I'm glad I accepted that I do not have what it takes to rebuild my island. I could never do those elaborate islands like others do. But I realized I didn't really want to change my island. I'm happy living on a comfy island paradise. I just tweak things here and there.

I was gifted this game and a switch lite a few days ago, so this is really helpful. I've played all the way to New Leaf, so the breaking tools, crafting, and terraforming are the only things new to me.

when you do the quest of guliver or gulivaarrr the next day you will have a rusted part in the box at resident services. make sure to keep the rusted parts if you want to make the robot.

If you're feeling burnt out because you can't help but compare your island to the ones you see on YT and other social media, I suggest going to see Luna and visiting random dream addresses by letting her "surprise you" with random dreams. You'll quickly realize that, online, we only get to see the best of the best, most unique themes, over-the-top terraforming, etc. when in reality, there's all kinds of islands out there and yours isn't even close to half bad. I have mixed feelings about starting over. I love the beginning where everything is still simple and relaxing, villagers in tents, having to build everything from scratch, not even having to worry about how you're going to terraform yet because you haven't unlocked it yet.. But at the same time, yes, I've definitely regretted it and thought to myself "why did I do this, my last island wasn't that bad T_T " Especially when looking back at old screenies I made of previous islands. But if you restarted because of things you couldn't change about your last island, like for example the location of Resident Services, it can really help. Flattening won't change that, after all. I had to restart 5 times before fully realizing what I wanted in my island. I was way too picky for my own good and kept deleting islands over the smallest things, but now I finally have my forever island. Green airport, Redd's beach in the middle, airport and RS lined up, I didn't want my peninsula all the way near the top or just beneath a rivermouth, leaving me with an awkward tiny beach, stuff like that. It took 4 days of almost non-stop resetting and a lot of my sanity, but I finally found the perfect island. The only thing I'm sad about is that the native fruit isn't apples, but pears were my second choice, so it's all good 👍 And as a bonus, it has beautiful beach rocks (one is in the water) and nice big flat rocks on the North side.

First of all, your island is GORGEOUS! It looks like it could be in a gaming magazine or an ACNH game guide book! I watched the whole video. I found I actually do a lot of this stuff. When you mentioned about having a copy of every item, that's something I do by instinct. That started in New Leaf (which I actually still play to this day!) when Blathers had a fossil I wanted to donate and I had like 3 of the same one. I saved one in my inventory then sold the other 2. I also recently did that with the Red King Crab. Since it took me forever to catch it, I knew it was rare. I caught like 3 more, so I could keep one and sell 2. Another big mistake I made was enacting the Beautiful Island Ordinance. My flowers spread like wildfires and it drives me insane. A trick I learned which is mostly for weed prevention is to go into your custom designs, and select the 'clear' design. It's just like designing a path. Just paint the clear design over parts of your island where you don't want flowers and weeds to grow. It's a labor of love, but it's worth it. If you miss any spots while doing this task, either dig your shovel into the ground (the shovel won't go thru if there's clear coating on the ground) or jog around the island. If you're running around and there's a crunching sound under your feet, that area isn't covered with clear coating. Just a tip I thought would help you and others. I'm having the painful task of digging up flowers one by one. I really like the tip about restoring tools. I saw that in another video as well. Lastly, I wrote down your Happy Home Academy ID and Dream address. I just wanted to get permission from you first. Is it ok if I visit your island using your dream address? About the chapter selling things in this video: For clothes and furniture i look at first, if they can be purchased from the cataloque, and onla, if they can, i sell them. For bugs, fossils and fish, the first specimen of a type, that i get, goes straight to the museum.

My advice would be: Have fun! And ask people, I learned that this community is a really nice and not that toxic (unlike other game communities) and people are willing to help. No question is too dumb.

Flattened my island twice. Made sure to take lots of pics of my old builds. Huge inspo. I find that combining area ideas work well too. For example my camp area is mixed with a ruins build & giant mushrooms.

Hi Bobs Gang. Tabbys team here. I suffer from bad temper and ragedeleted my first two islands due to some of the mistakes you named in your vid. First one was due to stupid names on both my char and my isle, brokeness and flower infestation. My second one due to rushing, stressing, misclicking and letting my favourite villager leave. And ofc flower infestation. This third island I`m taking it super cool, no rush and stress, no mindless time traveling. Very sparse decoration, trying to keep that "deserted island" feeling, and I love it! But the flowers are trying to take over here too. 😹

I finally stopped resetting as an old friend of mine finally started playing with me and we’ve had a blast so far. I now have a reason to set up island backup and NookLink, and now she may even be sending me some OLED Joy-Con so I can play on the go for the first time in 5 years. Also, bob’s gang.

I refuse to unlock the cooking in Animal Crossing until I get all the DIYs I want from my villagers (that way when they are crafting it is not going to be a recipe for food instead of an item). And I always leave the stretching to play out while I take a bathroom break or get a snack :)

I have never felt bad about my island when seeing other islands. I am cr@p at designing and I am cool with that. I still love this game.

As someone who gets annoyed when there's stuff in my recycling bin, I'm glad that I always check it when I play and empty it. Outside of when I time travel, there's rarely more than one item in there. Idk they added new items to it, so I'm looking forward to seeing those. Thanks for the info! Also, it's nice to hear islands look nice bc I"ve enjoyed the ones I've seen and people critic them so much. But they're usually so cute.

I recently restarted my entire island because i didnt like where my resident services building was. I finally found the island i wanted where the building is directly straight ahead from the airport and both river mouths are on the left and right side beside the airport. I already dont regret restarting as i already have an idea on how to terraform it.

Dude, about that island comparison exactly. Yours is impressive honestly but I could never all those winding corridors, just wouldn’t be my thing. Everybody’s design is theirs and subjective based on what they like. I think people get caught up in comparing the amount of perceived ‘effort’ put in.

Honestly I like Zucker having the base house more than his normal one. It feels more cozy to me.

Still wish I could get some fruit I don’t already have,like apples, cherries, peaches…..

Talking to Sable in tailor shop! It may take time for her to actually talk to you, but I do believe that she does give you patterns/fabrics. She is so sweet and I absolutely love. I always make sure to stop in and talk to her everyday, whether I buy anything or not. Sable is my favorite Staff character, alongside Isabelle.

I have something most likely unique to my island, I put Ribbot's house on the beach and threw trash all over it, and I made a pattern specifically to be put on display as a sign facing Ribbot's house saying "I hate you" because the lore of my island (my headcanon basically x3) has it so that Ribbot is viewed with suspicion cause he's the only bot character I have, I want to eventually get all the available bot villagers so I can basically make it seem like a robot uprising x3 four years later and I still only got the one bot x3

A feature that story of seasons trio of towns has is that you can change your farm's name and it's amazing! I truly wish I could change my island name!

I love starting new islands. I also like to keep my islands much more simple compared to many people. My last island had an outdoor restaurant and fair ground while my house had a mad scientist attack with a dungeon basement. Eventually it felt too busy for me so I stayed over a week ago. Felt like such a relief

I reset two times (second time I wasnt far along) and Im really happy. Acnh is my first animal crossing and you can see it in my first island. My second one I got frustrated because of my bad villagers and stopped playing until I reset and made a new one, where I knew what I wanted to build. I burnt out of that one to but after like 4 months Im now once again really into it for a month and I really like my builds and ideas. Yeah sometimes I think, man my island isnt that good, but I I realised that I didnt want such an perfect all cluttered island with small paths that I find good looking I want my island

You should never be ashamed of your island, if there's something you don't like about it just make some changes, imho if you're playing this game just to 'one up' someone else's island you're playing it wrong, AC isn't meant to be a competition. Also i never try to get rid of villagers, all is welcome and i've never come across an npc that annoyed me enough to do that.

I've noticed getting different villagers occasionally seems to effect what items you get from the shop and from balloons. This suggest it's actually a good thing to have an influx of villagers occasionally (even ones you may not like). For instance once I finally got Peko a couple days later I started getting all the wonderful Asian items I had been wanting. It's ok to have villagers you like but it's also a good thing to let a few villagers leave as it brings in a different set of items.

I love the video - however, the problem with time traveling and dealing with turnips is easy to deal with. If you visit any of the many treasure islands that you can visit for free, you can get an inventory full of royal crowns and then when you are back on your island, you can sell them for a few million bells. You'll never need to use the turnip market again :-)

Honestly flattening didn't work out for me. I wanted a whole new layout but the location of my airport and guest services was bothering me too much to want to continue. I also feel more motivated to play now because I have to re-progress the game. It's fun! I can take things slow again and try a whole new island 😊

Tip: get Boba or cotton candy from reds raffle. not only can they be cute decorations, but they can also be used for energy.

Did not know about the recycling at the Town Hall, never thought about it being able to get rare items from villagers. I actually had a visitor at the campsite and talked them into moving to my island and booting out someone who moved in while i was on hiatus from the game.

Don't know how much of a tip this is gonna be, but you can move buildings to the beach area to give you that extra space if needed.I know that ive spent way too many bell moving a villager house to another part of the island, to only later get fustrated that the are I moved them to was something I needed to also work on before moving them to the permanent space.

I was one insect away from filling out my critterpedia completely. All my fish and ocean critters, collected and donated. I was one horned hercules away! Then, the charge port went out on my switch lite and it would no longer power up. My husband, the amazing man he is, ordered me a switch OLED that same day. Sadly, my first island is gone, and even nintendo support can't get it back for me. Hundreds of hours I will never get back.😢 he's right, make sure your island back up is turned on. Save your island!!!!

@Crossing Channel I actually just thought of another way people are playing ACNH wrong. When selling unwanted stuff, be sure to sell it directly to Timmy & Tommy and not put the unwanted stuff in the drop off box. Yes, even if they're closed for the night. Just time travel to the next day when they're open. You get more bells by selling items to Timmy & Tommy directly rather than selling what you don't want thru the drop box.

Another thing about the bad luck and purification option is that if you don't go through it then there are items you'll never receive.

My biggest mistake is comparing New Horizons to past games 😅🥹

I love my island. I have been playing on it since the day after the game was released. I have also never allowed any of my villagers to move away. So it's been my little world for 3 years at least now.

I honestly feel like Nintendo didn't let us change our name/island name because people wouldn't bother getting another or just simply change their name/island name. Hell, people had to literally buy a WHOLE switch or game just to have multiple islands. Nintendo is money hungry :,/

I kept restarting until I finally got an island where the native fruit was pears. I started Animal Crossing on the GC back in 2002 in a town with pears as the native fruit. Then when I finally got New Leaf so many years later, my town had pears. Pears being my starting fruit is a tradition for me at this point. I'm especially glad that I restarted till I got pears with this game because my natural island layout was awesome. Just had to tidy it up a bit. It had a natural, star-shaped pond that I haven't messed with because I'm afraid I won't be able to sculpt it back to the shape it came as. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better island. I have also named my character Quill since GC Animal Crossing.

Best money-making thing I've done as a new player is to use those Nook Miles tickets to other islands to get fruit not native to your island, plant them into trees, then sell the fruit as they multiply. Your resources will build up gradually over time and it'll help you get started amasssing stuff for your island.

One piece of advice for new people so how to properly use the custom setting for doing the mannequins, I accidentally screwed up my palm tree design. I didn’t know I couldn’t reset it and I didn’t know I could make new designs. In fact there are zero YT videos that properly teach about mannequins at all. It’s just use mannequins for rocks and make it custom then change it after to delete them but no one explains them properly. I thought I had to make them on my work bench.

On my first day of a new island I shake all the trees to get the max limit of sticks per tree (which is 14 but if something is in the way it is lower) that way I have materials and don’t need to buy anything from nooks cranny when I don’t have bells (or even if I do). Only downside is ur storage will get super full.

You can get the styled houses for your first villagers by having Isabelle reset the way their home looks! If you pick that option for any villager, it will set their home back to default for that character. That was the first thing i did after the 2.0 update because i still have almost all my og villagers and i was sick of their ugly interiors 😂 i also hated that they displayed the random fish and items i gifted them, but that option with Isabelle will reset that too.

The one thing that I wish animal crossing would allow us to do is to allow us to help/edit other players islands. Every time I visit my sisters island she always wants my advice or to have me help her with some of the edits. But obviously this isn’t allowed and for good reasons that your island is protected against online graffiti, but I think AC should give the option to have main islander give special access to allow visitors to edit or help around the island if wanted to

if you put them in your house and time travel one day at time you can keep your turnips in good condition but place them in your house not in storage ! And you can only time travel a day forward at a time !

I'm lucky to have two switches. One island is my forever island. I gave it a generic name so it'll fit with nearly every theme and my other is the island I restart when I get the urge to.

Bob’s gang. I nearly restarted but chose to have a big move around instead. My island went down to a 2 star rating as I’d sold all my flowers and trees. After 4 weeks of moving and building I’m back up to 5 stars and have a more pleading island while keeping all of my money and miles etc. ( your inventory is amazing). I wish I could change the island name for sure.

Having loads of trees on your island as decoration but just to find out you gotta chop them all down to get a 5⭐️ rating on your island

You can't move the mouth itself but you can minimize it to almost nothing, the only reason your footage showed that you couldn't was the waterfall I think.

I was heading off to Nook's to sell a punk outfit that I won out of a balloon. Up comes Melba, and asks me for it. Sure, why not? I mean, knowing what I know now, I probably wouldn't have given it to her, but oh my gosh, it's the funniest thing seeing Melba the cinnamon bun wearing a leather jacket and spike bracelet. 😂😂

flattening my island was why i restarted it. i ended up losing all my inspiration because i struggle so much with terraforming. all the houses being on the beach and everything being flat and it taking ages to fix that really ruined my experience. So i guess this is my reminder that not all tips are universal and you should play the game in whatever way brings you the most joy, not how you feel like you "should" be playing. As another example i always look for the message in a bottle, fossil, and tree furniture item when villager hunting even tho it makes it way slower.

On my first acnh island I stopped enjoying it when I did max bells from a treasure island and i reset which (I'm glad I did) but I kept trying to rush the game to get certain things, pay off the home, etc. My current island I decided to not time travel more then 24 hours and limit my self to what I can get from treasure islands (because if i ban something i wont like that either). It's keeping my interest again which was my goal .

I feel like you're wasting storage space with that much buyable furniture. If it can be bought from the catalogue, store it there until you need it! Save your storage!

Yeah that name change thing is the only reason I've restarted my island, I really wish I could've had the same island I had back in 2021, but nope there's no name change feature. It just sucks. And since im really indecisive about names I've restarted like 4 times due to this

Me and my mom are gamers and her island took 6 months to complete, so I always compare my island to hers 😭 I also restarted because my island name felt so wrong and also my name was an old name I hate using now, so I don’t try to put my name as a my real name now because of that.

Also really important is: dont "cheat" to get the maximum of bells (999.999.999) , it makes building and buying things easier yes but it also takes away the fun of working for your things and overall ruins the "living on an abandoned island and making it into your own" vibes because in reality you wouldnt be a multi millionaire on a random island either. by "cheating" i mean is like going on treasure islands and collecting really really valuable items or lots of tulips and selling them for an unreal price just for the fact of being insanely rich then. i learned that the hard way
