Best and cheapest mod for a Jeep, is a long arm four link kit, and trust me it'll make a HUGE difference in off road performance along with a good off road tire of course! A couple of buddies and I build one several years back, and it was doing things and going places nothing else could. And it only sat on 35s
@@senditsteve8206 I still have a few photos on the XJ we built, I'd love to share with ya for inspection lol I know your not a Facebook guy and I'm not an instagram guy but if your interested in seeing what we did, I'd be happy to send ya the few pics I got
Mod it Steve! Weld the rear a lift no bigger then 3" some 33x10.50 boggers a front locker and lastly snorkel and the ultimate offroad lights maybe a winch you will be u unstoppable! Lemme get a heart! SENDIT
couldn't find a clean 4runner in my price range , found a spotless 99 2door xj !! (been looking for years for a 2door ,had givin up !) its coming along nicely ...
A lot of his work is custom fab and can’t be easily recreated. That is a very not stock Cherokee. Even Matt’s said himself, those things are useless stock, that’s why he has so much custom fab into it
@@TylerDuysen he didnt think it could make it up that hill at all, however with enough momentum, u could get a Lamborghini up Mount Everest if you had enough. Momentum is not a measure of capability it's a last resort because the product can not handle the terrain by itself with its factory components, which that crappy 4runner could and did
Hey I have a liberty and I have a 3" OME lift, arb bumper with a winch, sikds, and a locker in the back. It's like a little tank, don't underestimate the liberty.
Weld the rear diff, cut the fenders and you can fit 32s with some rubbing. if there is still money in the budget, get a lunchbox locker in your front carrier. then, you "send it"
Modify it!!!!! Se if you can get a rough country 4 inch lift to sponsor you and some 33s, but biggest thing TAKE OFF BOTH SWAY BARS!!!!! and weld the rear end. That thing will be unstoppable
You CANNOT judge this Jeep on bald tires. I’ve had an XJ ran like a dream and could go anywhere. Obviously yours ran into problems with bald street tires. I’d love to see this thing built up. I think you’d love it on some 33s and then a locker.
Hey just to let you know theres a guy in lower chanceford township I know with all the jeep parts you could need. I believe he has some Dana 40s as well
The xj is the best bang for the buck. Take all of the sway bars off, 2 inch coil spacer in the front, weld the rear axle and put a 98 v8 grand cherokee steering drag link that is more beefy, and still have a budget for tires 31s to 33s. I had less that 1500 total in my 97 welded front and rear on cheap 33s inch super swampers that rubbed a lot with trimming but it followed and did more than people on 35s and big lifts
I have a 4½ lift in mine with 32" tires with cut fenders and a ford 8.8 out of an explorer I keep up with the Rubicons I trail with it was cheap cost less then 1700 with wheels and tires
XJ's need a LSD in the rear and a locker in the front. The fenders are already trimmed so put on the OME lift and some 35's and go wheeling anywhere you want.
XJ's rule !! I got 2 of them.. A stock 98 4 door with 290000 miles and no issues what so ever I am the second owner , and a stock 96 2 door with 180000 miles and a TON of $$ invested .. but I love it .. All new floors ..rebuilt 4.0 with 15000 miles, solid transfer case , trans and running gear. new brakes, rotors, calipers, lines, pads and on and on.. I'm 70 but still love my jeeps.. Last vehicles I will ever need !!!
Have your watched bleeping Jeep vs busted knuckle on here? They just did a build series with a $5000 budget with an xj vs a grand Cherokee, i think you’d be impressed if you haven’t already go watch it
I been wheeling xjs for years you can't beat em 4.5" lift 35s rear shackle relocation brackets and lockers its unstoppable pretty much for less than 5k you can buy and build a xj that will hang with 80-100k offroad rigs no problem
i have respect for you, u kept comparing to the 4runner, the tires on the 4 runner are way better , simple 3 inch lift and 31s and a locker wels the rear
Get some better tires it would do much better. Unless you have the power under the hood. I've done trails like that with a 79 ford f150 4x4 with a 460 big block. Never had a problem.
aint even gonna lie, i got the cheapest running driving XJ i could find on northeast fb market, $550. rotted high mileage shitbox. took out the sway bars, put good all terrains on it and even with open diffs, I out flex and compete with wranglers.
Don’t hate on the XJ lol. That thing needs tires!!!! Do lockers and maybe a 31/10.50 m/t and try again. Totally different outcome I promise. You should come in around $1000 I’m talking eBay tires
If your budget is 1000 do a cheap 3inch lift from rough country weld the rear diff and get some used 31s-33s (33s you would have to cut some fenders) or go really budget and just get some 3inch coils for the front and some blocks for the rear with some 31s and welded diff
Saw you at bloomsburg last summer with the honda and I was telling you about the 8.8 swap I did. Totally worth the couple hundred bucks spent, plus you get that limited slip
