This used to bother me when I wanted to expand a house because my sim had kids & I needed to create a basement...and my stairs somehow deleted items from the main floor once I added a set into the basement if I placed them accidentally 1 square over from where it needed to be! THANK YOU FOR CTRL STAIRS!!!
Well, even after 4 years I still suck at building so I know the terrain tools will be of no use to me personally, but I'm still super excited to see what amazing creations simmers come up with when we get these!
As someone who isn't able to get the packs, I'm really excited for this free update! I love love love building in the sims but it does occasionally get boring with only base game, get to work and city living. (I got get to work at the same time as I got the base game, years ago, I got city living a few months ago for my birthday :) )
honestly i never expected we would ever get terrain manipulation, especially at this level! makes me hopeful regarding other things i had given up on. would love to see split levels one day but i'm happy with this for now. honestly would've been super impressed with the new foundations alone!
Bet all the people complaining about what the sims 4 lacked are putting their foot in their mouths now that they’re adding the features in better than they were before...
This is a pretty good summary to a stream that had a lot to take in at once. The possibilities are super exciting and Im so very hopeful for the possible updates with ponds, but Im really waiting for a true split level home cause those are my realistic dream homes. They did a wonderful job with terrain this time around though. Patience is a virtue, and I would much rather wait for something great than get something that feels rushed and half completed. So like Sims 5, Id rather wait 5 years to get a terrific base game than one thats missing a whole bunch of features that were in base game of Sims 3 just putting that out there.
Omg thanks you for showing the new add ons, because I went to a sims group wondering what happened to the building terrains, and someone directed me to a mods "troubleshoot" instead of telling me what has changed. Grateful for your video.
James...whoever did your fade did an AMAZING JOB. Finding a good barber who can fade without any noticeable lines is like finding a unicorn. Hold on to him!
For anyone asking about this video saying "why was it private before?", or "why did you reupload it?", well James said on Twitter that RU-vid broke the video, so he had to reupload it. But I'm so excited for terrain tools!
NOW I'm excited for this update! The flexibility added to stairs and fences and the capability to have different foundation levels for different rooms is a dream come true.
soo now all we need is, auto roofing, (i somehow forgot) spiral stairssss!!, cars, university, and beaches. and maybeeeee... just maybeee... preteens????
Also, this looks complicated af. Don't get me wrong, I'm SUPER happy and grateful they're adding all this in, but I think a lot of people will find it difficult to grasp everything that can be done/how to do it.
I would rather it be complicated but have all the features needed (though it looks like we'll have to wait for more features) than easy to use but super simplified. Anyway, those who really want to do it will learn. It honestly doesn't even seem that complex to me! Sure, there's lots of little details that James is showing you can do but that's no different from the older games.
It looks way more complicated than it really is. If you said that about building with sims 3 terrain, I'd agree with you, but the tools in this pretty much make it accessible to anyone who actually pays attention and thinks about what they're doing. The tool that lets you pick a height and level anything on the lot to that elevation alone is a huge ease of use tool.
I'm somewhere in the middle: I'm more excited about the terrain tools than I expected to be but also very disappointed that proper split levels are still not in the cards. I swear, if they created a stuff pack that just included a variety of staircases (half landings, spirals, curved...) I'd pay SO much for that. Le sigh :P off topic, it's super cute that you're staying with your fellow sim friend
I am excited about this update in a way I haven't been for any previous TS4 release. SO much building potential suddenly opened, looks really really good!
I'm so glad this is coming out around the same time as get famous, I really hope they have some big Hollywood hills style homes that are actually on a hill! also so happy about the ctrl stair tool!
Yay finally a better explanation !! Im so excited for this to come out , im actually ok without the other things for now lol makes more to look forward to in the future .
I have never played the sims other than Freeplay and Sims4 so I have noooo idea what you're talking about. But it still helped me kiiinda soooo, great vid 10/10!
I would love to see you do a build video where each room of a house, even bathrooms is on it's own floor. 9 stories high. Kind of a challenge. It would be fun.
The foundation overhaul was MUCH NEEDED! now I can put a shed or greenhouse in the yard and not worry lol. And fake garages and carports will be easier (won't be fake if the car hunch is true)
I'm upset we don't have split leveling - it was the main reason I was excited for this update. But a free update that gives us MAJOR game changes and opens up loads of creative possibilities is something we should always be thankful for :) thank you gurus for all your hard work !
The devs really went all out with this! It's very impressive because what they did must not have been easy with such precise, yet so free control of the land and rooms. So far this definitely seems like it was worth the wait and it's understandable why it took so long when you see what they've done lol
may I say that I really like your voice? very nice to listen to! :) plus I'm soooo looking forward to the terrain editing!! will be so so awesome!! thanks for showing all of this :3
I didn’t watch the full stream and didn’t understand some of anyway, thank goodness for this video! I have much more of an idea now and as sad as it is there’s no split levelling, there’s a lot that will be possible (all I need now is fixing it so rooms can be finished with a fence, the roof clipping drives me batty!).
Personally, I was okay with all flat lots but excited to see what other people will be doing with these tools. Though I will be happy to be able to have a workshop or other building separate from a house on ground level without any foundation. Nice to see stuff being added at any time.
*snorks at that beginning* Oh, you two XD But yes, thank you Deli, for giving James the chance to record! :) As for the actual terrain stuff, I don't know if I personally will use it that much, simply because I'm not a builder. But I'm glad of the OPTION, at least, and I'll probably make little hills and stuff on lots to give them some more character. :) And different foundation heights for different room clusters is a great addition. :) As is BEING ABLE TO PLACE STAIRS GOING DOWN THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO FREAKING USEFUL WHEN I DID MY BASEMENT CRYPT FOR MY VAMPIRES Uh, yeah. So, overall, a fan. :p
