Hi Simsie, a little tip for ponds that has helped me a lot: „sketch“ the shape of the pond with terrain paint and then use the pond tool, following the outline. 🙈💕

If is one type of build I like to watch Simsie make it’s Cottage core houses I absolutely love cottage core houses.

i love when you use as many packs as you like, and do houses with a theme like this

With ponds, don't ever get a basement going under one. Even if the pond is only knee deep, and you are building the fourth basement. If the basement goes under the pond, the game camera will get all wonky whenever it gets under the pond. With that terrain, you don't need anything on the porch beside a rocking chair. Add a few fireflies. By night, they are magical. Dragonflies are also nice. That log is home to some turtles. You can try to catch frogs in that pond.

Always loved Kayla's landscaping, look at this it's stunning! Even if she thinks that sometimes her landscaping is too simple, I learned so much with her that it became my favorite thing to do when i'm building :)

One of my favorite houses ever was ms honeys house from Matilda because it was the cute cottage with all the flowers and this ABSOLUTELY reminds me of it and gave me huge nostalgia. Honestly best build ever

Really cute! A good tip when combining plants is thinking "A pillar, a filler and a spiller", meaning a tall, structural piece, a bushy piece, and a hanging/groundfilling piece. /Plant nerd :)

I feel like the leaf curtains may look good with one of these open 'windows', like the one that came with cats and dogs. But it may be too much of a difference in height/length

Every time I try working with terrain heights, I immediately feel like my building skills had just disappeared

I really liked this build--it's probably one of my favorites! I think the more "cluttered" look (to use Kayla's term) actually looks more lived in and realistic. While watching this video, I made an observation, too. Seems like whenever Kayla does shell tours she always admires the excellent use of clutter, but she rarely uses that much clutter in her own builds. It would be cool to see her challenge herself to use more clutter/layering like she did in this build!

For ponds I like to do a basic round hole, add the water, then shape it with the terrain tools.I find this helps me get the pond shape exactly how I want it

So I had a thought in the chimney situation. What if you placed a sized up chimney on a taller platform (half walls to get matching stone/brick)? It would raise the chimney up without the clipping. You can also drop a roof down to platform height if there is a size mismatch.

I spent a very long time the other day individually placing stones around a pond in the Sims 4... It took so long and I'm not completely in love with the end result, but I like the idea of it 😅

I was imagining we’d be seeing this little cottage on top of a hill and I was waiting to hear tips on how to use terrain tools, cuz that’s really where I struggle lol. Also, with the grid on, it’s easier to envision what the pond will look like

A good tip for making a pond, is draw with terrain paint first so you can see better where you use the tool.

kayak one thing i wanna see you try to use bushes on walls or something as ivy or on the chimney to cover up the glitchy parts, feel like it'd look very cottagecorey or cute. Looove this build btw!

I have been also experimenting with debug items and terrain tools. So far its going really good and I am having a lot of with it.

If you want to prevent the clipping for the chimney, you can alt place one of them sliiiiiiightly offset from the other! I do this with tool mod but alt place works too.

for me, the best way to make ponds is by making the shape I want, filling it with water and then just adjusting it from there with the water still in it so I can really see how it’s gonna look, much easier than without the water

I really like that lately the video lighting has been toned down so we can see your natural freckles. While I'm not new here, I had no idea you had freckles until you mentioned it when you were visiting Dan and planning for the big move to the US. I love them and I'm glad you're showing them more now :).

Since you inspired my to start building, I can give you my pond tricks ! I always use brown terrain pain INSIDE the pond cause mud yk and I like to put a lot of stuff around my ponds like grass and little bushes so it doesn’t look so flat. Sometimes I also raise up the sides of the pond to give the lot a little more texture. I also like the layer the weird algae thingy and sometimes I even “decorate” my ponds with ducks, debug boats (from university) or the nice city living candle floats ! Your pond looks really good, I’m into it ✨

I think you are better with the terrain tool than you think. That pond is perfect for this lot, your yard looks supper cute💖

This house is unbelievably pretty, I downloaded it straight away, even though I usually don't download lots from Gallery :) The problem though is that it's so small, it's really uncomfortable to play as the furniture often blocks the view. But it's really beautiful, so my sim lives there anyway :D

I just been watching more and more videos about building in the Sims. To get my builds to the next level I need to learn how to do terrain.

When I do a pond, I make it whatever shape I want to, and then cover the edges with pond landscaping. (There are special plants to put in and around ponds.) With plants around most of it, the specific shape of the pond is not particularly apparent.
