Wild boar, also known as feral pigs, were not native to the United States. Wild boars were first introduced to the continent in the 1500s by Spanish explorers, who brought domestic pigs with them to use as a food source. Over time, some of these domestic pigs escaped and became feral, adapting to the wild and thriving in various regions throughout the country. Today, there are an estimated 8,900,000 wild boars in America, causing significant damage to crops and natural habitats, and posing a threat to both wildlife and human populations.
