There is something so haunting , sad and painful about this song.... When I listen to it the memories of loved ones and lovers gone forever fill my mind.... Life is so beautiful and Tragic at the same time....

I worked at Sears when I was younger, and they would play this song over the store speakers sometimes. The rest of their playlist was terrible, as was the job, but discovering this song almost made working there worth it. I quit after a few months and moved on with my life-traveled, experienced the world, went through a heartbreak or two. A decade later, as I approach thirty, this song has started popping back into my head. I think back to my eighteen-year-old self folding clothes at the store, this song playing from the scratchy speakers in the ceiling, and I realize there's no way I could have really understood what this song was about at the time. I'm only just now beginning to understand. It resonates more and more as time goes on, and lately has begun to give me goosebumps each time I hear it. Thank you for the wonderful music, EBTG.

I remember listening to this song shortly after my dad died. I was laying on the bed, it was Summer and I felt a sense of emptiness and longing. This song was like a caress in that moment.

This song came out very shortly after my wife died. Every time I go home and walk down Delmar in St Louis oh, I hear this song in the back of my head..... It's a Bittersweet memory that I'm not real sure if anyone would ever truly understand.

Remember hanging round the home of a girl I loved but broke up with 50 years ago , still listen to this masterpiece and all the old memories come flooding back !

As a songwriter myself...I can say this is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Perfection.

Before the internet, cell phones and social media, when you broke up with someone and you lost all contact with them, sometimes walking by their old address or places you both used to hang out at or having old photographs was the only way to remember and relive those memories. Sometimes people change their names or move to other countries and stay hidden or are lost forever. This is such a melancholic masterpiece of a song and a missive to lost love.

Am I crying? Oh, yes. I had to take care of my brother’s apartment after he ended his life on 2/25/1999. He had over 300 CD’s and many from this group, that’s how I learned about the music. Every now and then I listen and my heart fills up with grief again, but it reminds me of him. I try to cope every day so music soothes my ravaged heart and hurting soul.

This is my dads favorite song to this day, and he doesn’t even know English. He always swears you can hear the emotion in her voice and that’s what makes the song powerful. 💕

That line “could you be dead” gets me every time. Makes me wonder if those who were once close to me are still here.

Man……this song brings me so many memories from 1997 when I was 17 years old, now I’m almost 43 and still can’t grasp how time has flown by so fast 😭

It's funny. When I heard this song on the radio as a kid I made up lyrics because I didn't understand what Tracey was saying. I remember life being a lot brighter back then, everything so fresh. I finally understand what this song means. A few years ago I ruined a sincere friendship with one of those people who would pay any price to save someone. All she wanted was an ear to do the same. I tried to go to the house she grew up in so long ago. A place in my mind I never thought she would leave. She's gone now, no way to contact her and she doesn't speak to her family. How ugly was I to treat someone I love in a manner such as that. I'm sorry, I deserve what you left.

I just heard this the other day in Home Depot from all places. It put me right back into the 90ies, when I lived another life and on another continent. It filled me with this old desperation I have no reason to feel.....One of the best songs back then.

There is very subtle but burning sub bass synth that kicks in at 3:10 that I had never heard/appreciated in all these years. Listening to it now in 2022, I feel an inkling of dubstep or DnB just eeking below the surface of this song. It has opened a whole new dimension of appreciation for this masterpiece!

Listened to this track for about 6 hours straight driving overnight through a blizzard in Michigan once. Got "there" safely, and the time had slipped past in what seemed to have been only the blink of an eye thanks to EBTG that night.
