Thanks for everything, Everything Everything :-D! "The End of the Contender" is actually conquering my heart. What a sublimely composed, catchy Pop-Song.
If Mountainhead isn't at least nominated for the Mercury prize, they aren't listening. Can't see another UK act releasing an album as good as this is in 2024. There's not one 'filler' track on the whole LP. Blows my mind that EE can do something so strong and fresh sounding 7 albums in. Best band on the planet right now, nobody else can even come close. How they aren't absolutely massive I don't know. Should be filling arenas just on the strength of Mountainhead alone.
I swear, no one makes songs about mental health and life in the current era quite like EE. It's almost impossible to describe how many of their songs resonate on a visceral level. Allowing all the space for loss, grief, heartbreak, stress about no sense of direction in life, societal pressures, depression, and impulse control issues to exist, while also being uplifting and hopeful. We're not just lonely brains trapped in our own consciousness, limited by how we can communicate outwardly what's going on inside. We're actually all in the same boat and other people also experience most of those big feelings we struggle with internally. I'm just grateful to be along for the ride with these beautiful people and their creative output. THANK YOU!
Personal highlights: - Jeremy's too-short trousers - Mike being the only one to walk to the beat of the music, and his occasional bang of the drum - Alex's general demeanour of annoyance (understandable as he's carrying the heaviest thing) - Jon's little bob and nod after the word "shit" (00:33) (honourable mention for the tongue poke at 02:19)
may i also nominate 3:05 for where john suddenly breaks into a running pace after being able to keep it for the entirety of the video but hes still gotta run in ~style~ you know
I'v seen videos where Jonathan expresses his disdain for Coldplay. I wonder if this is a dig at Coldplay's Yellow music video, with the yellow banner behind him, or if it's just an artistic visual choice, as the yellow banner is excellent contrast to the bleak beach, as well as their baby blue outfits. In any case, excellent banger, love from the US. Edit: I just watched the other videos for this new album and I take it back lol. Seems like these color choices are an artistic choice for the message they have about living in reality and learning to abstain from the virtual. Funny enough, the way I got introduced to EE was through Coldplay. As a big fan of CP I followed them on Facebook, where Chris Martin shared the Kemosabe video from the Arc album way back in 2013. Been in love ever since!
@@SaynaTheSpiffy i saw a really old interview that took place before arc even came out as an album. I’d have to find it, but I remember it vividly. It made me sad because I love Coldplay, although my taste for them has weened over the years.
I think this song might grow on me with time, my first impression so far is that I expected more, both in terms of the song and the video. The song does remind me of Spring/Sun/Winter/Dread with a twist, though, and I like that.
They're all wearing blue and dragging yellow, in Cold Reactor and The Mad Stone they were wearing all yellow. They're also up against the water here, very far from the mountain top, so perhaps yellow represents proximity to the Mountainhead?
i can only imagine there's been at least a few takes where johnathan grooved out so hard while throwing benjamins that he accidentally runs into one of the boys
I love the consistent style with the videos! The manual labor, the worker uniforms, the mountains, the pops of color; can’t wait for the next one! Loving the Creddahornis eyes part!
All of the songs from this album are huge bangers so far, I cannot wait for the full drop!!! I know that I'm gonna be listening just to that on repeat for months \o/
@@SaynaTheSpiffy yes we did! I loved them before seeing them but once I saw them live and how insane good they are, I like them even more which I didn’t think was possible!!
@@KyunaCookies walking on the beach, singing a song while the sun is rising. pretty obvious, right? also, thats not the first time they mock coldplay like that. their spotify pfp is pretty similar to one coldplay were using a bit ago. i personally think of that as a joke, for i love both bands equally
Man alive made me a fan and I cannot appreciate how good a band you are, i haven't followed a band tht is soo consistently good as everything everything. Amazing ❤
Reminds me a little of Harry Enfield singing: "Wipe yer Wad...Wipe yer Wad on the counter.. Loads er money" ha ha ha!!"..But Seriously Phil Collins... Jonathan and the Everything boys have just smashed another blinder out of the park. Blinding good bit of new tuneage....😊
