I'm so thrilled to see her doing so well. I always knew she would and she's going to get nothing but better with maturity. My girl Marsha had me pulling my hair out at first but the more we worked with her the better she got. By the time she was 2-1/2 and in her 3rd season she was a star. All retrieves for her were blind retrieves since she never saw the birds fall but she had it figured out and knew what to do when we got out of the blind and headed to the shore or back into the cattails. She whined all the way to the bird like Kora. Makes me smile!

At the end you said five birds, five perfect retrieves, and don’t forget 5 shots! Sick

Hey Josh one thing I noticed when hunting with the dog is when you drop a bird and send her your gun is still loaded.. I use to do the same thing but I actually got shot by my dog the first year we hunted together.. he knocked a loaded gun over and stepped on it. I got extremely luck but just be carful with the dog and guns! Crazy things happen

VERY rarely will we see any duck hunting videos on "divers". It was always our favorite hunting method. A lot more difficult hunting technique, but the action was GREAT when it was great!🤗

I’ve had a DP since they were first manufactured; a great rig for sure. I suspect your appreciation of afternoon hunts will continue to grow as Kora ages since it becomes more difficult for older dogs to stay warm in the confines of a small boat without frequent visits to dry land. My old guy, now 10, loves to sunbathe on the DP deck on a sunny and breezy afternoon.

I lost my lab at the age of 17 in 2015 and I hunted with him until he was 15. I sort of fell out of love with duck hunting since then because it is not the same without a dog. I've watched your videos for a few years and really enjoy your content but seeing you hunting with Cora really gets me fired up to get another hunting dog. I've got non-hunting dogs now that are great family dogs but I am really considering getting me a hunting dog after watching your videos this year. She is getting better and better each hunt. I am already looking forward to the next video!

Josh, (unfortunately) you have Cora's progress for all to see. There is always going to be someone who criticizes something. I had a guy criticize my dog for being steady and waiting for my command. He saw a dog that jumped over the front wall of the blind as soon as shots were fired. So, my dog was "not enthusiastic enough." However, friends asked to borrow that dog, a Golden Retriever, when I could not go. There are only a few things that matter. 1. Is your time in the marsh enhanced by hunting with your dog? 2. Are you decreasing the number of lost birds? 3. Does she spook birds decoying? 4. Does she have manners in the blind, not getting in the peoples faces or food, not fighting with other dogs, etc. Beyond that the rest is just style points. This is not a performance, although RU-vid makes it feel like one. It is hunting, harvesting the game ethically. I love a good performance retrieving as much as any dog owner. I would probably not hunt without a dog. I have trained my own dogs since I was 15. Most dogs need a year of osmosis and then it clicks. Some take to it very fast; that is in the blood not the training. Although they are not human they also are not robots. Enjoy yourself and Cora, she is doing great.
