Back in September 2021, I was invited to #CBCCulinaryhouse: a PR getaway event set in the Hamptons in a fancy Airbnb house tucked away at the end of a road somewhere that had terrible cellphone reception.
Let's be honest: I went because I saw goat yoga on the itinerary, but the caviar was a nice bonus. It was nice to finally have a reason to take some PTO. Everyone was PCR-tested and vaxxed, and I had a lot of fun eating free food.

So glad you took us on this trip. I had no idea not to eat caviar with a metal spoon!! Never had it before, but duly noted. I'm with you! I wouldn't want a goat standing on me, too gimmicky! Til the next trip. Woop! X

I just love how un pretentious you are about food. To me something like the octopus cocktail seems fancy (maybe not to everyone though), but then to order some fries after and make some mayo-chup at the table feels so deeply relatable and comforting to me. You also must always dip fries and bread in whatever leftover sauce you have leftover after a meal, so that was a great move. Thank you for sharing the beautiful visuals, and lovely descriptions with us.

Loved this video, and loved to see you enjoying all those dishes and chefs in a weekend away. The quorn cubed chicken really holds up well in curries and pot pies. Gets a little weird in soup. Also great for chicken salad. The crumbles have a great texture too. Trust me, save yourself and never try their turk’y burgers.

You should ALWAYS get warm to hot cobbler or pie when you have a la mode. Btw, I think they put avocado oil in that butter just to make it easier to spread.

No, we've been able to get Quorn products in the U.S. for about 20 years, but I have noticed a wider variety of products lately. I didn't know it was named for a town, though!

Plastics. I've heard this discussed in what conspiracy theorists call mainstream media. Who makes plastics? Big oil. With solar etc getting cheaper they have been lobbying heavily for more plastic use. Sigh. On a more pleasant note this would be a great channel for you to team up with Claire Saffitz, dessert person on to talk about cats. She loves them too.

Wow. Was that a trip for food journalists? Everything looked wonderful. But I clicked on the thumbnail, which I did not see in the video. (Looked like fuck confit?). Kudos for persevering despite a very full stomach & the side effects from prunes. 8 know. You do it all for us, right?

June, please, PLEASE, donate those blue and white overalls! I would say throw them away, but that would be wasteful. They just aren't something a grown woman should wear, even if it is a casual work event. Also, those blueberries I wanna say are local-ish, and usually when they are huge they have no flavor. Lucky!!

@Sarah L As a person born on Long Island, the Hamptons are too bougie and too WASP-colonizer vibe for most-including me. The beaches are nice. I used to do traveling massage gigs out there during the busy summer season. Worked in various sized mansions, cottages, and a boutique hotel. The local residents look forward to each fall, when all the rich non-locals go back to Manhattan, Connecticut, Boston, and their other respective international places of origin. Gives them a break from all the egos of the more pretentious and entitled members of the wealthy crowd for a few months.
