That mirror feature may seem useless, but the purpose for it is when you're parallel parking in the city, you can see the curb so you don't give your wheels some good ol' curb rash
The fact that you're bringing up having to code something for a horrifically designed aspect of the vehicle is sad. It's a design flaw. Plain and simple.
@@mcfoolskully like someone already said, the mirror folds down so you don‘t fuck up your rims when parallel parking. If you don’t like the function while just backing up, then flick the switch and the mirror won‘t fold down. I‘m sure it‘s mentioned in the instruction manual and sure is not a „design flaw“.
Thank you for this! After driving mine for 4 months i agree to every single point you mentioned. Who is interested in this car should know about it and you pointed out that all the (avoidable) issues don't make this wonderful car an average or even a bad one.
Thanks for the comment! Love being able to share the real ownership experience with the new Supra! Still a great car and I really love it. But good for potential owners to know some downsides before spending the money on one! Hope you are enjoying your Supra!
Heck yeah man!! The first 6 month of owning it, sooo many people asked me about it when they first saw it and couldn't say enough good things about it! Looks sick!
Great review! Anyone who criticizes you for pointing out faults of a car is an idiot! Every car has it's faults. By the way... my 2018 M2 has the exact same climate control, and I have the same issue with dual zones... and yeah, it's not "the most annoying thing in the world"...(that would be my ex), but it is amazingly stupid for a $60-80k car to force the driver to constantly change the temp twice! Thanks! The Supra is one of the nicest looking cars to come out in recent years!
haha yeah! Fanboys just can't handle their car having any sort of comments that way it isnt perfect. I found in other BMW's they have a Menu AC button that lets you sync them. But in the Supra and smaller BMW cars, they don't have that. So dumb to not put it in! Glad you enjoyed the video. I really loved the owning the Supra. Had it for 2 years, then sold it to buy the new Z ;)
The mirror turning down helps with parking, especially if you live in a city or are parking between lines. A great feature that is easily turned off if you don’t need it.
Yes it's a great feature, but it just goes too far down like I talked about. You can only see the bottom of the wheel. You cant see the things coming up to the wheel. So by the time an object is in frame, it's literally hitting the wheel. It needs to be able to have a way to adjust the angle. Because depending on how tall you are. The angle that you see will be different. Short people probably don't have an issue because the angle of the mirror is probably good. But for me, and judging by the comments, many others, it goes too far down
@@impreza22bbs Well your 3 inches taller lol. So like I said, different hight people will see it different. It sets to one physical spot. It should be adjustable so various hight people can actually use it. Slouch down 3 inches and see where it angles and how your perspective will be much different.
Exactly! Crazy that people don't understand the concept of this video! Would really suck to spend a lot of money on a car and then find out little gripes you don't like about it
Exactly! It's a great video to show people every little aspect of a car before they spend money on one. Glad you liked it. Supra has been a fun car overall!
I’ve a Ford Focus. It has storage for sunglasses, a decent horn, tailgate release button dual climate with sync option. Oh and it’s white. Do you want to swap??
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nBSOL94MWJQ.html Heres a video I did comparing the two. That is a tough one because I miss the manual transmission. But the Supra is o much faster, handles way better and has better tech. So it's a much better car all over. But if only it had a stick shift.
All of your comments are understandable. As a daily driver, all of these things can get annoying fast. It is good to be critical of things even if you own it, otherwise, there would no improvement in life.
One thing to always keep in mind is that no car on this planet will be perfect. It's surprising that it's such a tight fit but its understanding that you're tall. I'm 5'8 about 185-190 and I may be ok but when I was 30 pounds heavier, it might have been a challenge to get into a 2 door sportscar. Makes you feel much better when you take some weight off!
I laughed out loud watching this at several points. That said, you are SO ON THE MONEY! The only one of these issues I had not noticed after 3 months of owning my 2021 3.0 Premium was the door panel quality issue. At 52 years old, I look like a paraplegic struggling out of this car (no handhold either) anytime you cannot fully open the driver's door (which is anytime my wife's SUV is also in the driveway). I would note the excessive tilting of the passenger side mirror when backing can be reduced in 10% increments by using the Bimmercode App to recode that setting on the car's CPUs. All these issues considered, this is still the most fun car I have owned since I bought my Nissan 240SX at 21 back in 1988... I love this car... except for that horn...
Haha yeah this thing has it's quirks! I still don't see anything in Bimmer code to adjust the tilt tho. But those aside, the Supra is a beast! I really like the car a lot and it's a monster now that it's tuned! Great platform .
Bro.. I'm a left leg below the knee amputee and I drive a 2021 supra. You having to pull your leg in was hilarious to me. That's the exact maneuver I have to do 🤣🤣
Glad you enjoyed the video! I made a few two year updates on this before I sold it. The right side mirror tilting is a feature, it's especially useful when parallel parking in European style cities in the NorthEast, but most of the time just leave it normal
@@BrosFOURRSpeed it’s for getting close to the curb without scraping your rims. That’s how Mercedes and BMW do it. It works perfectly for Europe. If you don’t need it you can leave the switch on the other mirror. That’s by design and is mentioned in the manual lol. I love how you “find it annoying” in the video but don’t talk that it’s an actual feature that you can turn on and off
@@BrosFOURRSpeed late to the party but when parking i always watch the wheel when going against a curb. The rest doesn’t matter as I haven the backup camera
When you put your car in reverse and the mirrors move down, adjust them to how you like and it should move to that position when you put in reverse the next time! That may fix it
Bros FOURR Speed dang.. I only said that bc I know that’s how it was on my only 3 series.. hopefully BMW or Toyota push a software update to fix that! Keep up the Supra content you’ve already convinced me 100% to make it my next car 😂😂
@@Cmatt1299 Some people said the BimmerCode App can adjust it. I never remember seeing that menu when I messed with the App. But that'd be an easy fix. Glad you're enjoying the Supra content!! What else should I film with the car?
Bros fourr speed: new video including the supra!(on ig) Me: thinks it would be drag race and race the 2021 supra (as u said it would be coming soon) Reality: things i hate about my supra me: ... But i love the horn tho so i dont have to buy a trumpet
The reverse tilting mirrors are the best feature! You can reverse park with ease because you can see the parking lines, gutters & rear wheel for curbs or stops.
I am most appreciative for this video despite your having recorded it a long time ago. This car is expensive and these issues that you say aren't a big deal may be so for other people. Many you mentioned would certainly have me concerned enough to rethink owning one. Especially when there are so many other options. Thanks for your take on it. I am a Supra fan but this particular model isn't in my opinion a genuine Supra. Especially with BMW having too much of a hand in it.
Yeah that's why I like making these vids. It truly is one of the best sportscars available. But of course isnt perfect and has some downsides. Recently after selling it I filmed a ton comparing it to the new Z. Both have some pros and cons
You can pop the cellphone holder thing out if you move it to the side and pull it. Already scuffed the paint on the door jams from hitting it with my foot when getting out. No trunk handle is a bit annoying. Window view is largely obscured by pillars and overall window view is very narrow. Windshield is pretty poor quality, I already have a chip and sand marks --------- That being said, I love the... Large trunk space Unique car body design Fun City driving experience, everyone gives compliments on the car ***probably going to switch to a Porsche Cayman next if they ever decide to fix their awfully boring gearboxes
I'm 65, You made me laugh about getting in and out, In my garage I can only open the door half way and I don't struggle as much as you. I'm thinking of putting in a small air horn like I had in my miata If I can find the space. Worked great to get attention of other sleepy drivers. It was fun watching them look for a Semi.
Thanks for making the video. Great descriptive review and summary. I JUST bought a new 2022 A91 today... and, wacked my head getting in it for the test drive 🙃 Good thing it had a couple of redeeming qualities to make up for the abuse it 👍I loved how it handled, nice & tight & stuck to the road without rolling much at all on corners, great responsive pedal and tight steering. I have a 2022 Corvette with a dual clutch transmission and I thought for sure this had the DCT - very quick up/down shifting relatively speaking. It doesn't pop when up shifting with hard acceleration like the Vette, but it's certainly not shy about changing gears and continuing to accelerate! It seems to have some quirks, but there's always a fine balance between performance, luxury and convenience (and price...). Trunk button was definitely a "DOH!" moment I think LOL. Loved the car! Thanks again for the video.
Oh nice! Yeah the Supra is one of the best cars out there for sure! I loved mine, owned this for 2 years. Made 500 HP when I was done with it. Certainly has some dumb aspects like any car. But well worth owning!
I would say personally that the last thing you mention about the door - getting in and out is probably the worst that will affect everybody but good content young man 👍
i 100% agree with everything you mentioned LOL. You forgot to mention... when you try to open the trunk... they dont open all the way with a inside trunk button. Even from the outside, you gotta hit the trunk button from key TWICE to open the trunk. SOOOO annoying.
I actually have an updated video coming out soon now that I'm at 2 years of ownership. I don have that issue ever. But when I close my door, after I've popped the trunk. The pressure pops the trunk open a bit more and then it closes back down on itself. Drives me crazy
I feel you in the trunk, if your coming from a car that didn’t have one then I can see why it wouldn’t annoy you but coming from a couple cars that had one to a car that doesn’t is super annoying
Yeah my 370z and GTR have them so I'm so used to it. Crazy that the Z4 has the button. So it's not like they couldn't have installed it. I have a 2 year update coming up soon on the Supra. And I talk more about why the button is important. ;)
FYI you can pull off the wireless charging shroud and throw it in the glove box, fixes that problem immediately. The horn is hilarious. I thought something was broken on mine, sounds like my S2000 with one of the horns disconnected. Apparently you can just replace it with any other regular automotive horn by taking off the front bumper. As for rattles, take it in and get them resolved, any good dealership will deal with the rattles under 36k warranty.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Pull straight up on both sides at the same time. It feels like it's about to break but just unclips. I haven't swapped the horn but from what I've read it's just a simple swap.
9.0 is a very good point! not everyone has a big garage :) i also had this problem with my porsche 911. could not open the door completely to get in and out. Now looking for a supra because i just love the looks
Yeah a lot of tall people will point out they hit their head or back on the roof lol. But these are worth while to buy! One of the best cars out there! I just bought a 2023 Manual Supra! Glad to be back!
Not every car is going to be perfect though, just pointing out some things I've noticed that's all. It's a great car and I love it even more every time I drive it!
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Sy1ESwz3t-s.html Here’s the vid I made on that. Pretty much the exact same car. But you’ll notice more power about 5,500 RPM, and less torque under 3k rpm. So just have to drive then a bit different to get the power out. Also, cars made from July forward don’t seem to be able to get tuned because the ECU is locked
Your opinion, your taste and your channel, I respect your opinion because, I am not a Democrat that tries to indoctrinate you into their ideas or else you are wrong and a racist. I am about to buy one, and this video is actually opening my eyes 👀 thank you dude
lol. It's nice to show an honest perspective about the car. It's not perfect of course, but one heck of a fun car! Crazy how some people get offended if your opinion doesn't line up with theirs! Enjoy your Supra if you get one!
The horn is not to vent your anger at other drivers! it's there to let people know you're there who may not have seen you, like when going round 90* bends on narrow roads or over humped bridges. Maybe to wake someone up if they don't move at the lights.
That's true, but it has to be enough for someone to hear it as well. Someone could be listening to music in their car and not hear this. Just needs to be a little more aggressive and known!
Ay for your sunglasses there’s a thing on Amazon that they sell for you to take off your drivers side ceiling handle and replace it for a sunglasses case it’s pretty dope
Bro you don't have to explain yourself too much your opinion is essential and continue expressing however you feel, it will help those who are trying to make a decision, to hell with thumbs down. Some minor things can become pretty annoying like my 240sx doesn't have a proper cup holder so I ended up 3d printing a mod
Thanks man! Yeah some people for whatever reason get very offended if other peoples opinions don't match theirs LOL. That's awesome you could make your own like that!! I do love the Supra at the end of the day!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed You made the decision to own a Supra and you have it that's a win win. Your happy. That's what matters. I'm already planning on a Z and the interior door handles look like crap but guess what I love that car, as you age you really end up not giving a damn about anyone's opinion. You didn't get where you are by making bad decisions
I was wondering if you could make a video of how it drives in the snow since you owned it for a year. I want to buy one as well as a daily drive. So that information would be very helpful.
Well it snowed once since I've owned it. But unfortunately it didn't stick to the ground. That was in March. I took the Supra out hoping to find some sports to do some donuts but the ground felt like just a rainy day.
@@pathfindercod4638 If the snow ends up sticking I might take it out! But I got the GTR stuck in the snow with the same summer tires. So might not go any better in RWD lol
Thank you for making this video. Good to know these little things about cars that most ppl dont find out until after they buy it. Very much appreciated!!!!! This is my first time seeing this even tho it was posted almost 2 yrs ago. Now that Toyota announced the 6 sp manual I have put this car on my top 3 list of potential replacements to my 2015 Genesis coupe 3.8 Ulitimate.

Question Bros i am driving a Tacoma right now and i miss my sports car. Would you wait for the new Z or possibly a manual supra (if it happens) or just cop a 20/21 Supra. Thank you!
Tough one! The 2020 Supra is the cheapest and easiest option. Still going to be over a year till the Z makes it here. And the 2021 Supra built after July doesn’t look like they can be tuned. So a 2020 is a great option! I’d do that and then I’m 2-3 years get a food used or leftover Z. That’s what I’m planning
@@BrosFOURRSpeed hmm... some good valid points there sir! Didn't know about the 21's after July deal. Is that a forever thing or do they just have to figure out how to tune them sorta deal? Thank you for taking the time to reply always enjoy this channel!
From what I've seen all the tuners are scrambling to try and figure out the new ECU. But nobody has got it yet. Toyota/BMW added a ton more things that locked out any tampering. And yeah we take a few hours a day and reply to comments!!
Have you had any maintenance issues so far with the car? I'm considering getting one but if its full BMW nightmare mode I may avoid it and just go for a Lexus. Thanks for the video though! Really good to know all these little things before picking one up.

Thank you for actually telling us what is up! Those things will matter to any car guy. Especially if it is not from the 90’s! 🤣🤣 appreciate the heads up. 🙏🏻
@@BrosFOURRSpeed hey its stuff we will have on our minds while driving. especially if it will be a daily. again appreciate you doing the video and bringing the small stuff up. it really is not small like i said for people that really love cars like us! lol. my biggest thing is if i do get a supra. i am worried about the whole oil consumption problem with the 21 supra. i want to start on a supra not used. so knowing that the 2021 has problems i am really try to see if just going with the 20 even if it used. i know i wont have to worry about that issue. not to mention tuning. but my biggest thing hearing a rumor that the 2020 supra went through toyota specalist on the engine. they approved the last engine. this engine seems to be more towards the bmw style and engine overview. if you can maybe do a video about that! get some type of info about if toyota preffered the engine in the 2020 and that was their style compared to the 2021. wanting to learn as much as i can. love this car! its a supra for the new generation and im loving them! lol. sorry for the long write. hope it might be a good video or blog to start and see who knows what is really up form the major change to the engine. cant just be for lower compression and 35 extra hp. feel like their is more to why. maybe just maybe!! might be the whole gentlemens agreement that toyota and nissan did. and bmw did not want to be apart of that agreement! lol hey all assumtions. still just dont really know why they changed it. again we all know the 2020 can have a tone of power with no problems! but now 2021 a what m4 engine? not sure but its a straight bmw engine found in another car being sold now. you get what i am saying. lol! again sorry for the long write! wanting to know just what supra will be the best!!
Thanks for telling me about these stuff I wanted to buy it but now I changed my mind which is a good thing because now I don’t have to regret buying it❤️
Getting in and out is a big deal lol. The C8 Corvette has the same issue, you almost have to climb out. Which is annoying when you're wearing a suit or nice clothes!
you do know where the wireless phone charging station section is you can easily remove that cover/plastic and have acres of space and no more trouble removing phone... takes less then 5 seconds
Haha, I’m 20 years older trying to get in and out of this car! But despite our age difference, I’m just as annoyed with all those other things you’ve mentioned. I pulled the tray out above the charger, but phone kept landing in the passengers floorboard, so I put it back in. Now I just plug my phone in and toss it in the passenger seat. Or if I have a passenger, I’ll keep it next to me by the bolster. Drop stop (product) prevents it from falling down between the seats. As well as dirt and stuff.
We each have our opinions on this car but thank you for pointing out some minor inconvenience things about this car I’m gonna buy it hopefully In 10 days from now (hopefully I never have to honk)
Yeah I know why it does it. But it goes too far down to be useful. I'd rather see the bumper and the wheel together. Not just the bottom of the tire. Most people I talked to say the same thing. It just goes too low where you cant see the curb coming up to your wheel until the last second when it literally is going to hit the wheel. Thats why you more of a reference by seeing the bumper and wheel in the same frame
I don't understand why toyota but a BMW engine in it I've heard people say its because it was cheaper for R&D but Toyota already researched and developed the 2jz plus 2jzs are what the supra was famous for so why put a different engine in it i guess they never "don't try to fix what isn't broken" before
For sport mode, are there any dont’s on using it in drive mode? For example, can I turn on sport mode while driving or only when stationary, or do I need the car to be warmed up before turning on sport or can I turn it on during cold start? Thank you!
You can turn it on at any time, for a cold start up, I do need to wait a few minutes for it to hear anything different since it has a legit cold start feature, but other than that, anytime!
Same controls as a ford who lost all it's value are in a supra it became even more expensive as the years passed, but we seen it somewhere else when motorcycles drove by.
The Japanese aren't as hateful as us, so a "cute" horn is appropriate. The use is about being polite to let others know they are there. They are proactive, we are reactive. BUT, thank you for sharing all of these cons of the Supra! What part of NC are you in?
@@BrosFOURRSpeed nice! I’m in Raleigh. I’ve had the Supra on my mind for a couple months and, thanks to RU-vid, I’m thinking about it more and more. What’s the expected date of your Nissan?
I have no plan on buying that. Looks like a great new car. But it's way too slow for anything I'd want to own. Maybe 10 years ago I'd be interested as a teen. But not my style anymore
I agree especially with the horn haha, also with the door not being open all the way people park close to my Supra and it annoys me and I’m a short guy. When I found out about the wind deflectors I loved my ride in the Supra so much more!
I had a M2 Comp and had the same issue with the AC sync. I'm willing to bet you might have the other issue which annoyed me on the M2 Comp. The car would automatically lock the doors at 10 or 15 MPH but it doesn't automatically unlock either door when you put it in park! I was told it was a safety thing. Maybe. I can be fixed with Bimmercode but was terribly annoying until then! I'm shocked you didn't mention seating position. I test drove one and had to lay pretty far back so my head didn't hit the ceiling. However, I had to move the seat very far forward so my arms could reach the wheel. It made for an extremely uncomfortable seating position. I'm 6'0" and wouldn't say I have short arms. I asked the sales guy (who was maybe 5'10") if he found the seating position comfortable. He said he didn't find it comfortable either. At this point, I'm not interested in buying one but I'm still morbidly curious how exactly you're supposed to sit in the thing.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O0UieG__A9E.html I actually made a follow up vid to this after 2 years now. The seating position was on it. Not the biggest fan. I think when you shut the engine off it would unlock. That never bothered me since opening the door handle would also pull the unlock.
I agree with all your comments of the bad side, although I don’t have this car, haha. Another youtuber said he can’t leave the window open during driving, too noisy.
That is a great video. I am about to press the button on one. Such an amazing and unique looking car, but I want to look forward to jumping in it and loving it rather than been pissed off with it. But it is unique. God, please help me make the right decision.
You'll definitely enjoy the car! I owned this for 2 years and really liked it! Sold it for the new Z tho since I miss a manual. I don't need the refinements anymore with the Supra, so I wanted to switch it up to a more raw car with the manual. Can't go wrong with a Supra for sure!
Supra is a great car. But it's still just a car. Not all perfect and it has some downfalls. People looking to buy the new Supra like to know what are downsides before pulling the trigger and making a purchase
I’ve heard several complaints. Large A pillars, that wind buffing he mentioned, the central screen being in the way everytime you turn right, and the super small trunk.
I've never heard of an issue with the screen being in the way. It's never obstructing my view. A pillars seems small. And trunk is more then large enough for my needs. For me its a great car with just a few nit picky issues.
I had a older BMW with a mirror that rotated down in reverse, you don't like that feature? It's to help you prevent curbing your rims. Granted it's not as important nowadays with backup cameras, but....
I like the feature, but the angles goes all the way down and you just see the ground. Gives you no perspective where the car/wheel is in relation to the curb. It just goes too far down to be useful.
80's Boombox Collector It seems to go to the exact same place regardless of where the mirror starts out at. Somehow I’m sure I can code it and adjust it
Oh actually about the horn I remember reading up on a SupraMkV forum where someone did take their Supra to a Lexus dealer and they actually swapped the stock horn for a Lexus horn and the difference is definitely noticeable
Man some of these blow my mind. I just don't get why manufacturers refuse to make fun cars usable as a daily. The supra is awesome, and I've thought about getting one over my M140i, but I wouldn't buy it, for the reason mentioned in this video alone, and most of them would be EASY fixes. And then manufacturers complain that the demand for sports cars isn't there. so sad.
Yeah the trunk to e is the biggest issue. Would just make it way more usable and wouldn't exactly cost much to have. Still a great daily driving car for me. But they could have done some slight tweaks. M140i sounds like a fun car!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Yea, imagine an E46 sized BMW with F30 tech, B58 and LSD. Fun and quicker than you'd think. My car has a very similar AC unit with no sync button, it drives me MAD. It has a sunglasses storage thing, though. Down on the left of the wheel, between light control and obd port area.
@@Ultrabenbooyah Nice! The no sync is the dumbest thing ever. You'd think if they went to the trouble of having dual zone, why not have sync? I'd rather not even have dual zone then. I've always been a fan of the M2's. Maybe one day I'll pick up an M2 Comp. Would be a great blend of everything just like yours!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed ah yeah, they are mean cars. Should be a lot stiffer than your Supra or my M140, but I've heard they drink fuel like crazy, and I'm just not a fan of the S55 sound.
@@Ultrabenbooyah I drove a 2020 M2 Comp and it sounded like a vacuum. lol. No I'd do full exhaust on it and everything. I don't really care about fuel costs since its the name of the game. But one day that'd be a fun car!
I just got a 2021 Supra and I love it, however I agree with you with most.. for me its the Apple Car Play, it very annoying especially if I get a phone call while I'm driving.. its impossible to get right back to the last source I was listening to.
Oh really? I've been impressed with mine how it works nearly flawless ever time! Maybe 5 times in the first year it wouldn't connect. But its been good. There is a menu under wireless devises. Going under that it can sometimes go to normal bluetooth and you have to select carplay. Check that out next time it does that
Valid complaints. Hate the trunk not having a button. It’s bothered me a lot. Didn’t realize how much I use it. Especially with full hands. The other annoying thing is the rattling on the metal cross bar behind driver seat 😑
Yeah I went grocery shopping today and since it's raining, had to put all my bags on the wet ground to get my key out. I notice the seat will hit that bar. I just have the passenger seat pulled up a bit so they don't touch lol
Bros FOURR Speed I’m not sure if it’s that. It’s just rattling on that bar right above the speaker behind the driver. Sometimes I can grab it and it’ll be quiet. Maybe it’s only on the 2021? But it’s super annoying.
Bros FOURR Speed yeah just haven’t really had time to just look. Been pretty lazy. But if you’re ever about to trade in your Supra drive down to Texas and we can swap Wheels/tires to get you back to stock haha I love those wheels.
The mirror problem you're complaining about isnt a car problem haha, Just adjust the mirror position while you're in reverse gear. It will remember that spot when reverse gear is engaged and go there everytime.
