Emma as an older crafter, it really doesn't matter how many projects you finish in a month, just do what you want when you can, no one is going to expect you to finish. I have a couple of things to say, I never heard about blocking that is until I started watching youtube videos, it really wasnt a thing. Another thing, no one should knock someone because they chose to use acrylic rather than natural fibres, as there are many people who are allergic to wool, and cotton. Its nice to see a young person 'tension' their thread, and you are fast, and dont need to watch what you are doing. I used to be rather fast, except now that I am vision impaired I find that if I dont look at what I am doing I either drop a stitch, or split stitches or make a mistake. So I am a bit slower than I used to but hey its because I hate undoing my work, I have all day to get there. As for having many WIP'S I can relate I am making my granddaughter a slow book, a blanket for myself, in the swings of making crocheted hats, some embroidery and some quilting all not yet finished, but hey no one can say I am bored.
I love how some of the content I watch is "I am Marie kondo-ing my clothes. I only need 2 t-shirts" and then there is just the chaos of "so I have made 3 vests with cowboy hats on" 😅 Very weird and not my style but I do live how much you love them and they are very well designed and made ❤
Hey - an idea for an alternative for ribbing on your crochet items is to pick up & knit your ribbing! I don't mind doing crochet ribbing & my favorite is slip stitch rib. You amaze me with how many items you are able to make especially since I get the impression that you are a university student - wow! My favorite make here was the knit on fire sweater, super cool design! They were all great makes!
I’ve enjoyed watching your videos so much. I heard you mention opera and my ears perked up. I’m a fellow singer and voice professor. You have a beautiful voice!
Oh so cool! I love finding people at the intersection of fiber arts and classical music! Thank you so much, hopefully we cross paths some day in the classical music world 🤍
Funny story it is currently a heat wave where I live in Australia. I am currently making a hexi-cardigan. I always crochet big projects when it is super hot.
Wow, you have an amazing voice, and you're one heck of an artist when it comes to knit and crochet. I'm not sure why people had such trouble figuring out the vest had a cowboy hat on it. It was clear to me. I've been knitting/crocheting/sewing for 5 decades, but seeing how many projects some others complete, I know like I get I lag far behind. However, I love the creative process, not the competition. If anything, I wish I could get the tech side of things set up. On another note, no idea why styrofoam hasn't been banned yet. Horrible stuff. Favorite TJ snack - Roasted Peanuts - no salt.
There is a Trader Joe's where I live, but I don't shop there lol. My favorite snack right now is this thing called Balance Breaks (specifically the cheddar cheese, cashews, and cherry juice infused dried cranberries one).
The tj’s takis dupe that’s jalapeño and lime.. so good. Either that or the jalapeño crisps that are meant to go on top of food but I just eat them straight up hahah
It's so funny that you knit during rehearsals for The Magic Flute. I knit so much while in the pit for The Marriage of Figaro. I was tacet on so much as 2nd oboe lol
Fave TJ snack would be the everything but the bagel cashews currently. I’d love a crochet pattern for the flame sweater. Also I had no freaking clue you were in Boston. I’m also in mass
Marks and Spencers has a chicken katsu curry crisps flavour that is amazing. I don't get them often cause its not a shop that's near me but they're so good
This was a great video and I have been crotchet while watching your videos! Also I love the pickle popcorn(but im pretty sure its seasonal so kinda hard to get) and I love the chocolate chip bread things(not sure what their called) from trader joes! ❤
Ahhhhhh - I too have the styrofoam thing! I cannot - cannot - touch it, have to run out of the room so I don’t hear it, absolutely cannot stand to be around it. I will literally jump through the roof. Just horrible. (I found a vintage glass head at a thrift store that I use for hats.)
I prefer the long "everything I've made" crochet videos, I watch them while I crochet so I never watch the compilations. And however often you post them is fine!
Milliners use wooden block heads. It's quite the investment though so it's totally fair if you think that you wouldn't use it enough to justify getting one.
I've been binging your videos for the past few days after getting a video from your second channel recommended to me! Question: Do you think your square up scarf could be a good first project for someone with absolutely zero previous experience with crafts? I've been thinking about learning how to crochet for a few weeks now, your channel was what inspired me to actually do something about it instead of letting pictures pile up in my Pinterest board and I love that pattern.
I adore your content so much, always looking forward to your uploads! 🧡 And I loooove that you put your pieces on when you show them off!!! So many creators don't do that when they make videos like this and I think it's such a shame. OMG that chunky cardigan is gorgeoussss i don't know how to knit (yet) but I NEED that pattern 😍 Oh and I have the same ick with styrofoam, just thinking about it makes me cringe 😖😆
I am a long time cochair I’m wanting to learn how to knit well I’ve needed a little bit scarves, but I want Annette socks and sweaters and this is my first time coming on and meeting you and I love you. You are so cute for one thing I love your hair, it looks so good on you. It’s perfect for you. You are so sweet oh my favorite snack, sweet and salty. I don’t know anything sweet and salty.
EMMA!!! Omg!!! I am SO GLAD (now) I accidentally erased my entire viewing history and found this video!!! You have a GORGEOUS soprano! Stunning! I sing soprano-non-operatic, occasionally duet & backup/support & solo tenor. Your voice LITERALLY gave me CHILLS. BRAVA!!! I love your fiber art talent, too. You are so talented! And I’m also very invested in your “EintM” channel. Now I’m a gushing fangirl - apologies. I could ABSOLUTELY be your mother, but I’m impressed and want to thank you for sharing! Cheers! ☺️🎤🧶🫶🏻 Lisa in Ohio (square granny)
you might never read this lol but I think you dont need to be stressed about finishing projects for this type of video. when i got into fiber arts my favourite videos were of this Swedish lady who talked about knitting. She would do monthly videos showing everything she had worked on, rarely were her videos of finished projects. I thought that was really cool because she talked alot about things that went wrong and things she wants to redo, and it became kind of educational as well as being relaxing for her I guess because no pressure of finishing things lol. I forgot her name on youtube, and I'm so sad, I wish I could remember lol :(
Styrofoam is what nightmares are made of. There is literally NO worse sound in the world, makes me want to throw up everytime!!!! 😢 its the first time I hear someone else say that
Some superfan of this young lady could give her a gift of styrofoam mannequin head but covered in fabric! You could glue on a piece of thin stretchy fabric & that way she could use it for her hat designs! There are, of course, mannequin heads you can buy which are made from other materials, but they're much more expensive.
Instead of a styrofoam head maybe look into a canvas one -if you ever decide to get more into headwear.I’m all too familiar with the discomfort of styrofoam
I know what you mean by the video shorts. A favourite RU-vidr of mine is now producing bites exclusively. I feel very distanced from her now. I really don’t care about what she’s doing anymore. I find myself viewing her stuff less and less.
