Greg, you Sir, are the King of G Shock reviewers! I have learnt some new tips about them today, thanks to you. Great content indeed. I've got a number of G's: Rangeman, Mudman, Gravitymaster, JDM S5600U ... But I've just bought a Gxw 56 like yours and also the Black and red one. I hope they fit! All the best from the UK 👍
I have the GX, I don't understand the hate some people have for negative displays, it has a light, an auto one at that, it's more than easy enough to read. I don't mind not having multi band 6, once set the standard quartz keeps fantastic time. Great video!
This one is nice for us big dudes. Also, the buttons are glove friendly. One of my favorites. I have the blacked out version with the negative display. Might just have to get this positive display one…🤔
Just coming back to revisit this vid I originally saw a few years back, glad you convinced me to get one now that they are discontinued. This thing is a beauty to see on my wrist.
Another advantage of the GXW-56 over the GW-M5610 is that the backlight duration can be set to 1.5 or 3 seconds rather than being fixed at 1.5 seconds.
@Colin Grigson Not true. Only the new GW-M5610U, introduced in July 2021, has the 3 second backlight duration option. The original GW-M5610 backlight duration is fixed at 1.5 seconds.
Apart from tide and moon display the module is very simular to the gw 7900. Even down to the same back light. Thank you Greg. As always looking forward to the next vid 👍
@@kristianlewis5520 I have owned both the 2310 and the 7900 and I'd say it's close to the 2310 as it has the same functions and does not have the tide and moon graph. Looks wise, the display on this is the same layout as the 7900 if you delete the tide and moon phase display.
@@traviswalker8933 awsome. Would not mind owning this watch but like greg said your paying mostly for the bulk of the thing rather than the functions. Nice looking watch though
i collect GX-56s. GX-56-1B with positive display is my favorite of all and is my daily wear. Somehow it looks even bigger on my wrist than any negative display GX-56s. Maybe due to the positive display and the yellowish character on the bezel - optical illusion effect.
That's a G-Shock square on steroids!! Casio made this G-Shock for construction workers dealing with the vibration from heavy machinery, it be banged around without no worries of being damaged, and it's water, mud and dust resistant.
Just received my GX-56SS-1. There's a big issue with these ones. Negative display is very bad. I mean, literally bad. Difficult to read even in a regular-lightened room with the sunshade on. Disappointed but will keep it due to awesome styling.
It doesn't look too big on you even though its a big watch. I think the GWG-1000-1A1ER is larger but not by much. A review of that watch would be very welcome.
And the somewhat-new GPRB-1000 Rangeman is slightly bigger than the GWG-1000. The GWG-1000 is already too big for me, I can't imagine how the Rangeman dwarfs my wrist lol
Some decades ago, I bought the old "king," the Innovative Time X-Shock Model X747B - shock resistant and water resistant to 50 ATM. ZEventuall, the rubber around the SS case became brittle and cracked. Polymer research had a long way to go. A true artifact of the effort to create what I think of as "The Hulk! Watch." Still have the remains. Sad.
If it’s for negative display one can have GD350 …one of the best negative displays out there with a classic design. Coming to the KING I think this Gxw 56 is the OG variant
I want one of these but Casio only seems to offer the stupid blacked out ones in Canada. The "regular" display ones seem to be japan only a goes for way more than the $200 cdn retail price for the blacked out version.
Great content! I just ordered a multi band version in black and red. But I am a bit skeptical since there keep up coming stories about this watch always fogging up. Since this should be beater watch for outdoor/water /mountainbiking I am not sure if I should really keep it. How are your experiences with this model? Greetings from Germany
Greg, have you ever purchased any Baby-G G-Shocks for yourself, or probably, for your family? Many of those seems to be very well designed with all the cool colors that I'd not be embarrassed them as a guy.
A few months ago they discontinued this “King” with the positive display, but there are some negative LCD versions still officially available, some with wild colors for the bezel and band too.
I respect your thoughts about this. I hope I have given you useful information to help you decide. Ultimately, yes, if you have a lot of watches it’s important to have priorities about getting more.
@@Mel-md6cb Yes, tks! I just found out that the 'GX-56-1B', which has pos display & no multiband, was once available. It is no longer being made. I would like to get that.
Personally, I don’t have any complaints about how hard it is to push the buttons in these watches. But I actually think it’s a little easier to push the buttons on the GW-M5610 because the GXW-56 has extra mud protection around its buttons.
