Yeah, it's all pointing to deeper oceans and expanding underwater building abilities... For a $50 game, the updates are continuing better than any subscription game... 😮
Got to love the Mojang style, "No we don't need to milk our players for more money, will just make the game better and sell more copies" mindset Hello Games has
@@ShaighJosephson I just bought this game on sale for like $23 for my buddy. The value is absolutely insane. I spent that on a Taco 12 Pack at Taco Bell recently. It feels like one of my best investments lol.
Light No Fire is supposedly going to be a fantasy world with some RPGs elements. One of the main staples of the fantasy genre is the "quest", the multi-stage quest. You have to acquire information, a powerful weapon, overcome a formidable foe. Hello Games would have had to developed a very robust procedural questing system for Light No Fire. And if they are trying to bring tech from Light No Fire into No Man's Sky, we might see quests in No Man's Sky. The "missions" we can get from the space stations aren't really quests.
@@StuartGilbert All expeditions are temporary (i.e. once it's done, new players can't experience it) and multiplayer though. Most if not all RPG quests are permanent. Whether the quest is multiplayer or single player depends on the type of RPG. But even multiplayer RPGs have single player quests.
There's also the weekly community missions that had story peppered into em that were not accessible afterwards but had pretty large ramifications lore wise. Unlike expeditions, which have had reruns, it's never been reran or revisited. I do wonder what will become of it when nms development stops? Same with expeditions. When the game finally stops recieving regular updates I can see expeditions either going on a permanent cycle or being selectable at all times. But I wonder how they could do this with nada and polos early community missions, the Ariadne story etc. I'd love to see that return for new players to explore. Apologies for the tangent I just wanted to say they were kinda like long form quests with an unfolding story.
If any other game developer had responded the way Sean Murray did at the beginning of this video-"It's named Part One because I guess there's much more to come"-I might think, "This game is done, it's basically over, and the CEO is just trying to milk the fans dry while pretending there's still something worthwhile." BUT, this isn’t EA, Blizzard, or Activision. It’s Murray and Hello Games. And hey, listen up and take notes-Hello Games is showing how to run a game company with one crucial principle: keeping your word. Something that 90 percent of other companies, like Blizzard and Activision, seem to have forgotten. You’ve turned the gaming industry into a mess of battle passes, overpriced skins, and gambling mechanics for kids. But here’s a quick question: with this free expedition, you get new ships, cool skins, and updates, right? You get all these items without having to buy currency or do any shady transactions. You just play the game and earn these rewards. For real. I rest my case. I’ll end the embarrassment tour for all the wannabe big-shot companies pretending to be grown-up when all they do is forget that their games. Are not gonna be there this money making machine. Cause money fixes a ton of stuff but damn. It doesn't buy you the hand book on how not to be a greedy fuck. Now lets all slow clap for the champs man. Thank you Hello Games! CHEERS
@jasonhedges8982 when reading this comment I thought you were referring to destiny 2, since that is actually exactly what is currently happening with them right now.
In planet dungeons could be nice, just like the abandoned ship in space And to improve the caves they could also make them deeper, more deep than the digong limit we have in the game in the moment
I'd like to see the natural points of interest you mentioned. Something like "highest point on the planet" or "deepest cave" or "north pole" would be pretty cool. They could just be discoveries and give you nanites the same as flora and fauna.
Identifying major settlements would be good as well. I haven't completed the story or read up on the lore, but towns under a dome or something could be cool if it fitted. There could be ones on the ground, underwater and in the sky.
At some point they will touch space between planets too. I hope they add the ability for us to construct space stations at some point and build them out with shops and places with quests and more.
I want bigger star systems, with the possibility of multiple space stations in a single system. Rotating planets, reachable stars and gas giants and fixed points of interest in space. The ability to explore between star systems and manual flight between star systems. Perhaps give us something between impulse speed and warp to do so.
the ability to space walk would be cool, being on top of a freighter whilst in space and looking out into the vastness feels so cool, you could be able to float around in open space with something like the swim animation
@@mikesb113 You know those features were real, like an actual physical sun, rotating and orbiting planets! Those were originally planned for this game and it's a shame people think that Sean has redeem himself completely when in fact he Barely touch those features for that actual game we got! lol It's crazy how AMBITIOUS the original intended game was gonna be! Unfortunately, I don't see that they will bring most of those features back, there's quite a bit infact!

I'll say this everytime i have the opportunity: gas giants should be a new lore/quest for living ships. Only using a living ship one could enter a gas planet, from there, travellers would see maybe some "living" creatures, we can dream about it
They wouldn't have to be planets you land on, but could farm or they might have moons that are able to be visited. Gas giants are supposed to be failed suns, so the heat and winds would make it ridiculous even for our travellers to land on the core.
AtlasPass doors have basically been the same since launch, except maybe adding the large server rooms that have some interactivity. I remember speculating and lusting after what could be behind those doors. The passes were SO hard to obtain before the tech trees were introduced, and when I finally got one I eagerly opened every one only to be disappointed every time. Totally agree this would be great to see updated. I purchased v1.0 on GOG so I have the original version saved on my hard drive, fun to go back and see what it was like and how much it has changed.
Not anything special, but caves are the best place for cobalt, especially in the beginning. If you're lucky and there are plenty of plants and hazard plants, you can get a lot of oxygen, carbon, and sodium as well. Only place for Marrow Bulbs (also good for sodium), etc. Still... they are super underused, but thought I'd mention those. :)
@@username.exenotfound2943 True that they nerfed it, but it is still a great way to start. It is super useful for batteries and some units, you can stay out of the storms and relax while as a n00b you get used to your multitool and such - find out the hard way about those toxic puffballs and that they give you some good oxygen/sodium. lol
Particularly when you take into account the ability to play this in VR. There is no other VR game even close to touching this for play and quality of visuals. I hope that LNF is also provided in VR.
Played NMS year one and two, then came back this year. All I can say is I'm genuinely impressed, and having a blast. Hello Games is like a studio that jumped ahead from 2007 to make great games in the modern era 😄
A few things i want to see in part 2 or some point is: 1- more sentinel variants and depth. Maybe a true sentinel fortress of sorts with infinitely spawning aggressive ones in its vicinity. Marine or amphibious sentinel types would be fantastic. Because as of now, they can go almost anywhere except the oceans. You can generally stay well out of the aggressive sentinels’ radar just by camping underwater. They’re in space, in the skies, and on land. Why not the oceans? Theres also already plenty of lore bits about the sentinels corrupting the water with nanites: (dont drink the water). So it makes sense. 2- a dedicated player economy. So we can buy and sell items, upgrades, ships, tools, and possibly even pets with a dedicated exchange system. There are technically player driven businesses already in places like the Galactic Hub, with special auxiliary currencies like HubCoin. But i think being able to set up a true in game business where you can sell things like foods, custom item packs, or valuable items with a specific in game exchange system would be great.
I think exocraft need the ability to use an analysis visor. Right now I have to get out of my exocraft to use my visor to find stuff, I would feel more need to use them if they didn’t interrupt the flow of exploration.
Re. Making Exocraft useful, I might as well throw out some ideas. I won't include the Minotaur or Nautilon because they already have uses, even if they could use QoL updates. _(eg. try switching between first and third person while controlling the Minotaur, first person mode is unplayably sluggish)_ Roamer: IMO it'd be neat if the Roamer got the default hazard immunity of Exocraft back, and if it got some other stuff to deal with hazardous terrain and environments- Like maybe a special weather neutraliser upgrade that acts as a radial shield against storm conditions, at the cost of a serious fuel load? Nomad: An upgrade that lets the Nomad hover a distance above ground, making it even better at going across absolutely any kind of terrain. With how high we can go in firestorms nowadays, I see no problem with flying hovercraft, let's do it Pilgrim: This one's purpose is to go fast, so really it should just be able to go even faster. I'd like a toggleable mode that renders its sphere wheels more like an actual bike's, reducing turning capabilities but letting you go faster than anything else in the game. Colossus: A special "Mineral Filter" upgrade that lets you select ferrite dust, carbon, oxygen or sodium; Everything the Colossus mines will produce some of that resource as a free bonus. Alternatively, I wonder if an upgrade to quickly harvest terrain resource nodes would be better? Sidenote, I also feel like a lot of Spaceship types could use a similar treatment. The endgame differences are minor enough that you can pick ships for fashion in NMS, but it's still lame that a random C class Interceptor is gonna be stronger than 99% of any regular ships you hunt, or that Living Ships are equally good cargo haulers as actual Haulers. I think it'd be nice, for example, if Haulers could get a tech upgrade that acts as a portable Large Refiner, or if Explorers could use the functionality of a Signal Booster whilst airborne
I think it’d be cool if haulers could get some upgrade that lets you summon a back attachment, basically turning you into a semi truck. It would slow you down, but double your inventory space. They should also have there own special weapon that lets them mine faster, and get more resources from mining. Also, the colossus exo should be a portable base like the cyclops from subnautica that you can build small things in and one big thing like a teleporter or large refiner
one thing I find a little stale about the game is mining. Refining, extracting are really good ways to get biome specific resources, but mining can't keep up. I think it would be nice to have a reason to explore caves and the different types of minerals on a planet. This way upgrading your scanner, mining beam, geology cannon, etc. would be really useful too. Also maybe if they added condensed crystals of resources underground, it could add the exclusive loot you were talking abt in your video.
I've always thought that Hello Games should merge planetary settlement and our base into one. we could simply build a settlement hub interface instead of a base computer and begin constructing a settlement from scratch and see random NPC moving in and build their own houses
I'd say you could achieve something like that by further clustering of common-themed points of interest, and maybe reducing artificial resources & Knowledge Stones to being primarily around other Points of Interest. For example: Colossal Archives can spawn with 1-4 of the following: Minor Settlements, Transmission Towers, Observatories, Habitable Bases, Shelters, Holo-Terminus Trade Posts can spawn with 0-2 of the following: Minor Settlements, Transmission Towers, Observatories, Habitable Bases, Shelters Sentinel Pillars can spawn with 0-3 of the following: Manufacturing Facilities, Operations Centres, and Depots Abandoned Structures & Crashed Ships can spawn 0-3 of the following: Alluring Specimen, Vile Worms, Hungering Nests, Drop Pods, Galactic Trade Terminals, Harmonic Camps Settlements can spawn 0-3 of the following: Ancient Ruins, Drop Pods, Galactic Trade Terminals, Harmonic Camps, Holo-Terminus, Natural Resource clusters...
Cities won’t happen it goes against lore unless they have whole systems at war with sentinels because sents don’t like big cities and destroyed them in the past
Underwater overhaul makes a lot of sense with the addition of the water jets. It's like they gave us the tech in preparation for it.... Edit: you mention it right after I post this 😂
Something i would like to see would be: 1. Rivers, and maybe new "earth like" planets would be basically a mixed planet with snowy poles, and desert or lush equators with oceans lakes etc, it would be cool to see propper mountain ranges too. 2. Species unique architecture, ships, weapons and interactables 3. Gek/vykeen/korvax troops, that can fight and be interacted with. It would be super cool if after disabling a pirate freighter, i then could land with a landing force of crew members and actually fight a bloody battle hall to hall in order to get to the bridge and force a surrender. It would also be cool to see star systems change factions depending on whats going on.
I would love to see a few additions to base building. 1. Recruitable storefronts. Being able to hire npcs to man shops for things like components, tech add ons, food, etc. 2. Player built settlements. Perhaps one you could manage like naturally occurring ones. Perhaps just recruitable npcs that you could build homes for in your base. 3. Additional decorations for bases. Self explanatory. Could possibly use the existing ones but add different style and color options to make bases more varied. 4. Automations. Being able to use supply lines, for example, to take copper from a mineral hot spot, pipe it to a refiner, and into another silo. Obviously this could become more complex to automate stasis devices for example. It could also be used to create recipes.
My wishlist so far: Planets with huge rivers, maybe poles and more variety in flora and fauna (new trees for decoration as well), more bade building objects.
For me, the biggest thing is inventory management - why cant my freighter refiner use materials from the cargo?? - its small QOL things that'll go a long way
I came back after years of not playing and cant stop with the community challenge event. Having a regular game save and event save has kept me pretty busy. Thumbs up!
As of two expeditions ago you can now also start an expedition from a current save and even bring some tech and goodies with you to claim on the nexus during Expedition. You can also bring things back upon completion, you can even switch back and forth mid expedition. It's handy should you decide you want a little bit of a leg up on a later expedition. You can even bring your ship and a multitool across but they cost nanites to retrieve in Expedition. For expeditions you've missed, they do season repeats at years end, sometimes the previous years too. I have a feeling one day they'll be on a bi-weekly/monthly cycle or maybe outright selectable (probably when they stop making new ones). You can also get the exclusive expedition rewards through twitch drops when they are running. And if you're a returning player and you think you truly deserve those Expedition rewards you missed, there's always a save editor ;)
The autophage quests could be copied into the other races, just need new loot for each race. That would make settlements way more interesting. And exocraft could be used to create roaming pirates and traders on planets. You’d want to use your own exocraft to battle/escape or catch up to the npc exocraft. Could even use ant-air weapons to engage ships. And i guarantee LNF will have settlements, so they will probably port the final iteration of those to NMS.
I'd love to see another tier of on-planet gathering and some deeper trade mechanics. It feels like on-planet gathering plateaus once you get the advanced mining laser and there's not much past that beyond stacking mining bonuses. We need more ultra-rare resources to reward really pushing your scan distance and unlocking a rare 3rd tier mining laser. As far as the economy goes a wider variety of ship mods like supplementary economy scanners (find better trade surges, bonuses to specific economy types, etc) and some more depth to smuggling. Other than that I'm having a blast but just wish there was a little more depth to trading and gathering.
If there is anything I want in Worlds Part 2, it's the continuation of the overhaul and addition of more dynamic systems, like with the water and wind. I feel that's what this series of updates is gonna focus around, and the most likely continuation of that would be the addition of Orbital Mechanics, like planetary rotations, orbits around a real star, and the addition of a genuine spectral classification system that gives stars differing sizes and heat levels. I feel this would kick variety wayyyy up, in a more emergent and organic matter.
S.M. saying "more to come" .. "I guess" and leaning into his past self being ...well ..him, is actually a respectable thing. Trial by Fire the AAA gaming space would have forged many others into a completely different person. Since he seemed easy going, that reforged version might have been worse. He seems like the same "Lead Tech" type of guy on a project that he has always been. Good on you, man.
Yes, we need more natural disasters. The universe should be more terrifying and inaccessible than it is now. Planets made of pure gas and storms, planets with never-ending earthquakes, and so on... I’m also looking forward to greater advancements in gameplay! By the way, I’m very grateful to Hello Games; these free updates are truly admirable.
I think of anything I'd want them to update it would definitely be POIs both on planets and in space. Big sprawling underground structures, procedural cities, sunken ruins in the oceans, maybe insane natural formations that have a 1 in a million chance to spawn. I really like that idea of coming across maybe illegal GekNip farms which allows for more emergent gameplay opportunities, like you can either raid them and steal their GekNip, report them to sentinel authorities, what have you. Gas giants I think could work with the floating islands 100%, and with that honestly I'd REALLY love some more stuff to do in space, such as getting out of your ship in EVA with some space-specific POIs that aren't in the game already. Maybe some undercover pirate settlements floating above the atmosphere of planets would be sick.
Playloop: Ancient Ruin dungeons. Each time you turn in a high-value artifact to the Planetary Archive, it also teaches you a new word in the ancient dialect of the race the ruin belongs to. Learn enough words in the ancient dialect of the language and you can unlock deeper areas of the ruin with higher-value artifacts.
Another great vid Kanaju! I make custom critters (I just figured out how to do custom colors on them!) in NMS and a few things I'm looking forward to in LNF is that mounting animation and the ability to fly vertically. There is also that shot with the skeletons walking to the ruins and there are 2 small skeletons following the bigger skeleton (Probably a sort of player skin) which indicates being able to call out multiple companions! Taking that idea and using it with that shot of the 4 characters walking into that courtyard, maybe those are custom companions that make up your very own party like a NMS ship squadron!
Personally, I would love to see a new POI system built on top of the current one where there are planetary level POIs that are rare (one to five per planet). The POIs would be something like a large city with vendors, a large sprawling archeology site, a fortified sentinel stronghold, etc. They could then change the ship scanner, so that you get a count of the planetary POIs on the planet with the basic info panel. But if you enter the planet and do a scan you can find the sites (or maybe you need to ask around). POIs could also be themed based on the planet type, either in theme or the type of POIs available. The big thing is that it would add a reason to visit planets beyond "does it have a material I need?". Small POIs are fine for the story, and basic quest line, but it is completely devoid of any entertainment once you get established in the game. If you have seen one abandoned building you have seen them all. Large POIs being dynamically generated from parts like the derelict freighters would be amazing.
I'm relatively new to the game, and I love it, but to add to the "wishful thinking" rather than the "part 2 speculation," it would be awesome to get ships you can walk around in. Ships that can either hover or while in orbit, I think there's so much more that could be added into the game if you could get up from your seat and walk over to in-ship features to prepare before landing. That could either take new ships or maybe find a way to further utilize frigates. Maybe join a frigate on one of their never witnessed missions. I'll stop there, bexause I could fill pages worth of ideas.
Personally, I want ships to be mostly cosmetic, like an arcade game. I don't want a space flight simulator. I don't want to have to "get up" to go prepare for a landing. It would slow the entire process down way too much. I'm landing and flying away waaaaay too often to make me want to do landing procedures before I can land.
ships are way too small for them to just add a feature like that, they'd be better off just allowing us to pilot our freighter instead of designing a whole new type medium sized ship
@dingdongspaghetti Haulers aren't, they could add that to haulers as a special feature unique to the type, like hovering is special for Sentinel Interceptors.
There's this one Traveler interaction where they pull out a "Multi-sword" and talk all medieval like. I was thinking of regular multi tools being shortswords or full blades (akin to the pistols and full guns we have) Sentinel Melee would be a hammer (a symbol of justice) Atlantid Tools could maybe be more mage themed weapon, or some sort of unique staff akin to the current Atlas staff. Construct staffs? They can remain unchanged I guess, maybe with some unique tools added to them. I'd imagine that since they are effectively coming back from the dead, the multiple universes sort of collide and their culture is a big mix of things from all of those universes.
I just started like a week or so ago already at 100+hrs and honestly compared to what I saw of the launch this game honestly went from a joke in my mind to honestly something I can see sinking an unholy amount of time in cause I can just get lost in everything and I especially joining in brand new I have so much to do but it feels less like a grind and way more like that sprawling sandbox that I can get immersed into my break from the Destiny grind has made this game a true escape. Hyped to keep on this one now.
Great video! Oh at 6:42ish, you show a heaving sea, the churning swells and spume. Having spent some time on the water, I can tell ya that this is not just mesmerizing, it is also very real looking. Oh I miss the sea life!
Looks like you are right. Part 2 will be blending the above ground to ocean while potentially updating underwater. They are going to remove the beaches and feather it better. I really like the look without the beaches far more so hope they update that. Can you imagine the worlds with night time fluorescent flora blending and partially flowing to the water lighting it up on the shore.
We need Millers Planet from Interstellar.. imagine landing on a planet, walking around, gathering materials, and starting to build a base, and all of a sudden, insanely tall waves are heading straight for you! Maybe they add a cue like the ticking sound to warn us.. 😍
Honestly, I wish we got more options for interacting with flora/minerals. There are quite often times I wish I could pick up a rock or crystal and take it home. Or, pick up a plant and transplant it somewhere else. I think there’s some way to do it currently, but they are like colorable decorations or something? I’d like to have like actual plants and rocks with their resource configurations to be moveable, duplicatable, and harvestable at your base. Then again, I would also love to see every plant that is cookable be able to be put in planters for growing and harvesting. I really like landscaping and farming in games.
What i would really like to see is a world generation update. Like proper tall mountains like what we see in Light No Fire. Something you cant climb in 30 seconds. And also more than one biome per planet, for example colder biomes near the polar regions. Abandoned cities would also be cool. Right now if you land on a planet and walk around for 2 minutes you have basically seen the entire planet, i think if they spiced it up a little it would make exploring more interesting.
For space station rooms, id re-use the derelict freighter procgen system to add little areas, hostile or not. (perhaps using new art pieces for the walls etc)
I appreciate that most here have followed this game for a decade, and I am vaguely familiar that there has been some kind of controversy during its development over the years. However, I just joined Steam about two weeks ago and started with NMS. (Been playing Minecraft on my tablet for last 5 years) It is pure magic to play this game. I guess I joined the party at the right time.
The pressurized depths speculation is actually cool! They could even add new underwater vehicle or 2, coz then itll be great to explore the depths. regarding gas giants, I think that'll also be cool, but as you say only can only fly thru, however they could make it that the deeper you get to its core, the harder the storms hit. Would be cool to have the gas giant be a rare anomaly planet coz one can use it to hide from pirates in battle, so not entirely useless i guess. lol.. New star system would be AMAZING.
sean made so much happen that we never saw a dev do before. nothing can change my mind about how i believe nms is being update to somehow be connected to light no fire somehow... but here... i'm not saying they'll convert nms to lnf or it is the same game or lnf is some kind of nms update. i just think they'll connect both games in some level, since people saw resources from lnf inside nms ... and with all the updates aiming towards lnf... that would be ground breaking tbh
Make some caves as dungeons to explore. Add Subnautic type gameplay to water. Add astroids to explore or comets with rare resources. Maybe add some actual combat worlds at war. Add cities. In any event, it's become a great game!!
It would also be cool if they had dark glyphs or dark portals to enter the universe that was in that exhibition that was in the alternate Euclid galaxy. It even used other resources to recharge things.
If they add water worlds, I hope we can have underwater settlements, with each buildings we build being connected with one another so settlers walk trough them
You want some ideas on how to make No Man's Sky better?? Let us pilot the freighter. This way we can get some amazing screenshots and move it wherever we want to. On that note, let us use more or even all base building parts on freighter bases. Give us force field generators for bases so that we can hang out outside during a storm. Kind of like how the heater works, but it would also block the rain, mist, wind, snow, fire, etc. effects and you would be able to see the wind and precipitation ripple against the force field. Another thing that would be great is locking in planets that have been landed on and uploaded to the Atlas for nanites. This way the weather won't change and the color of your grass on your perfect paradise planet that you spent hours building a big base on won't become purple one day. That would be great.
The ONE thing i would like to see added to "Worlds" relates to 3 specific types of planets Crimson/Blood/Red Emeril/Green Indium/Blue/Azure These names include words like "Sphere" or "Lost" and others But almost EVERY SINGLE time you land on one, it has either a sickly Yellow or Rose Tined filter that is so thick it makes your eyes bleed What i would like is for them to RELATE to the colours of the world name Red Filters on red, Green filters on Emeril, Blue filters on Indium Especially if we DO get the new Purple system, presumably a purple world type will be part of that Believe it or not, this is my number one pet peeve, but im sure im a minority :)
I suspect we could end up seeing planets with multiple biomes / more diversity (earth like 'worlds'). This would match up nicely with the way they are borrowing tech from light no fire and would incentivise more planetary gameplay. Imagine different regions / contents with their own resources and wildlife, whether solo or multiplayer this could lead to lots of base building / settlements. They could in the future expand on that idea with a faction system, trading or even conflict.
What I would love to see in NMS is an add-on that you can install that will allow you to scan anything and from the scan export it to an STL file. Yes, do not add as a feature but need to find blueprint for any multi-tool. Cool? But Worlds Part II could be that we are moving from 32bit to 64 bit universe generation giving us double the size and types of new planets that can be found?
No man's sky is already great but it has the potential to be one of the greatest games ever made. With how massive it is the possibilities are endless. Small cities and towns on some planets more building/mining options. Factions of groups to fight on planets and in space. those are my hopes for the future of nms
With the flooding and water levels It would be great to see swamp biomes that could be home to multiple vile broods and mothers if the planet spawns it, so not all of them are a horror to travel through. It would create a more hazardous areas of planets and some more variety
I only just started playing 4 days ago, but I hope we get a navigation system. The save towers imply we should, considering their description saying something along the lines of "marking a location." I wish I could just place one down and within my computer, navigate to any marked locations within a system. I really like the idea of slowly expanding and owning a planet, but not always do I need to place a computer for that. Save beacons as navigation beacons would be amazing
More incentives to explore caves and underwater is fine by me, we could use more reasons to go there but the flora and fauna is fine for me in those places. What i actually care about is trees that dont look like rubber and plastic 😝
I found a really cool planet last night. It broke my record in wonders for highest peak. I think the value is 3,600+ (whatever the unit is). But the coolest part about it is there are cave systems that can start as high as those peaks, and end all the way down to the “bedrock” of the planet. I first noticed the terrain forming as I entered the atmosphere and almost flew right into a peak because they are at the upper limit of the atmosphere. Then I saw a massive cave entrance near the top of a mountain peak - large enough that I was able to fly my ship into it. I thought I found the cave wall and so I landed, already planning to put a base computer down. Then I noticed the cave floor stopped a little short of what I thought was the wall, so I investigated. It was a sheer drop off. Far enough down that the in-game visibility fog kept me from seeing the bottom. So I jumped down it with the melee boost and free fell for ages until I started to see yellow glowing mushrooms all along the cave walls and eventually what I thought was the bottom, but it kept going! Maybe this isn’t super rare but in my 300hrs of playing I’ve never seen anything like this. Oh and the planet has firestorms too so imagine falling in that lol. The caves are large enough that they don’t provide protection against the storms.
Minor note on your altitude variety idea. The higher you go, the colder it gets. You are closer to the sun but there's not as much air to absorb and store the heat
I want water planets and for my ship to be able to double as a submersible let me use tech to make it work somehow. The oceans used to be way deeper now its hard to find anything more than 150-200 units. Give me a floating globe of water and new base materials to make bases work there. Proper nebula's would be cool. The gas giant thing could work if they made the stars in the individual systems approachable rather than just skyboxes.
I wish to walk inside my spaceship. Rest, eat, sit, gaze into the milky way! Our ship is the one we mostly use to travel, so I'd like to make it home. Not the freighter.
When you talked about the oceans, it reminded me of a thing that could greatly enhance the game if it was added: Underwater sentinels. From my own experience, especially during the liquidators expedition, whenever I would be close to water and in a lot of trouble because of the sentinels, I would just dive deep and they could not do anything about it. Yeah sure, they could shoot trough the water, but if I got deep enough, they could not dive to reach me, which gave me a free escape.
They could add 'Harvester' Tech for Exocrafts, which allow it to gain the resources for any Flora or Rocks you crash into, thatd be cool! Also yeah, having a friend jump in would be cool, giving it a more powerful laser beam for mining... that'd be good. I'd also like the inside of them to be a mini-base, so you could build in a tiny area and walk around an inside area of your Exocraft. Same with your ship, Id love to be able to build a little bedroom on the ships and you could walk around your ship. Would be nice, live a travelling home!
Another way to potentially improve the caves is to make the minimum height of the world even lower (by that I mean the layer of rock underneath the terrain that you can't destroy
I'd love to see more space stuff, gas clouds, wormholes and wreckages, maybe better planet visuals from space, seeing clouds and better atmospheres, black space (I know they want colour but still)
Regarding exocraft, I'd like to see an AI option given to the rest of them, perhaps adding storage augmentation tech. Exocraft could be given the ability to transform like autobots and decepticons. Introduce new craft like high flying, underwater robotic creature drones...
maybe they will start by working a tides before they add a flood weather event. In addition to adding tides they could even add evaporation to lakes so that the water level can lower and it can rise again after a storm. I think that would prob be more doable for them
I really hope they implement some sort of farming and breeding system for animals where you can keep animals on your base and tend to them. Something entirely separate from the companion system we have now. I’d love to keep animals and have space cows I can milk or farm moth silk and sell it at the trade terminal or something. At the moment you can feed creatures pellets and they’ll kinda hang around but a lot of them tend to wander away and there isn’t an easy way to keep them penned up.
It would be so cool if we could have a hollow planet biome where there not much on the surface but a huge generated underground with big caves or like a huge bug nest in the planet or like weird huge cavern's with more interesting generations like huge crystals everywhere
For exocraft I would love it if we could have something to use on the surface of oceans. Water landing systems for starships shows it's certainly possible. Perhaps a variant of the Nautolan.
Hello games is really leading on Procedural generation. Now if they can just vary the sentients and a stronger set of story lines versus the environmental story telling.
some things i want are taller atmospheres, deeper oceans, and realistic orbits also a slow walk button on m&k also also non hazardous rainstorms on paradise planets
I don’t know if anyone remembers Spore: Galactic Adventures expansion. But if they could implement like a custom quest or mission creator for players to use. And create their own missions quests and rewards on planets, script their own NPCs with dialogue and movement. It would be so huge to the exploration of the game. Imagine finding another players planet and they have created an entire mission on that planet for u to do that is completely unique to that planet. It would increase the community networking 10 fold and could conjure up some awesome build creations people can showcase in their custom quests
I know theres likely a Purple Star System which would allow new planet gen for maybe deeper oceans.. but having deep oceans in just 1 System type seems strange. I actually wish they would add Deep Oceans to regular planets, or add like 3/4 new Star Systems; Purple, Black, White and Gitched, would be pretty cool. That way half the solar systems could have new planets and planet gen so theyre not exclusively super rare or post game. I also wish theyd add 0-6 Planets per solar system, so systems could have potentially 12 planets per system which would be cooler! I have a list of a bajillion things to add to this awesome game
I want gas giants, and before anybody says that it will be boring, i believe that hello games could make some really cool mechanics with these planets. ⬇️⬇️
They could create cloud base parts, i imagine just different kinds of atmospheric buoyant platforms that a player could place on the cloud layer of a gas giant. They could make different kinds of storms appear around the planet and maybe create a new exocraft similar to solar ships that use the strong winds to travel through and around the planet, they could prevent normal starships from flying into a gas giant but a floating base could act as a place where you could go from starship to cloud sailing ship.
New kind or old kinds of flying wildlife could be found and (though it might be a stretch) a cloud density hazard, and you would need a upgrade to protect you against the highly dense air pressure. Better upgrades would let you travel deeper into the planet. Although this would be if you decided to leave the sailship. An upgrade for the jetpack to move around in the planets clouds for longer without falling. 😮
It would be cool if they added giant asteroids with covert outlaw bases in them. Also i'd love to see more npcs on planets, maybe even ones that wander around!
Put a refinery on the colossus and team rides. Must have more with settlements for management, decoration bonus, and missions. More deep and more interesting oceans. Add more races and interactions where faction effects trade and game. Paintable ships! A way to revisit past exploration events and get rewards at our own leisure.
Would be amazing if you could build enormous roads and bridges to transport stuff from one place to another. It's probably harder, but it seems you can just scale up base building and place geometrically simple but huge parts to connect one place to another. Imagine how awesome it would be to try and engineer to most efficient way to get resources to some enormous trade portal.
