Max I’m a 67 year old retired woman with a back injury, bad knees and arthritis in most joints. The exercises you mentioned are physically impossible for me to do now. I’m on social security so financially unable to donate. What I can do is to pray. And that I am doing. I love watching your videos and love Occy!! Take care, safe travels, and stay healthy!! As an anaesthetic nurse I have seen so many suicides from so many young people and some older, especially in the last two years. Some of the relatives have donated organs of their loved ones in the most difficult and challenging times. I am grateful that you speak about mental health. Please take care, both of yourself and of Occy.

You should get the travel wash bag for the desert . You just put some liquid detergent and water and the zip the bag and slosh and roll it around then let the clothes dry on a line outside

I am 47 years old and have battled with mental health since my early teenage years. Depression and anxiety are one hell of a thing to battle with on daily basis. Though I am not financially capable of assisting I am definitely here to be one of your biggest supporters along the way. I have been a follower since day one and look forward to your continued journey and seeing all the amazing things that you get to show somebody like me that lives in the United States that will never make it there. You hear that doctors are the worst patients and the handyman whose house is falling apart... I would recommend laying out your med kit and checking to see that you have what you think you should. Sometimes we think we put things in that we didn't. Other things I might forget: Tire patch kit. Sunscreen All of Occy's meds refilled Have a great time on your adventures!!!

Also watch out for the Roos, emus, camels🐪 donkeys, cows you name it, it’s out there don’t drive at dusk or dawn…and keep an eye out for our beautiful wedge tail eagles so slow taking off on the highways and roads after feeding on the roadkill

One thing you might want to invest in is an EPIRB or PLB. Worth their weight in gold if you were to get stuck somewhere. Maybe also look at getting some digital maps as well that will work offline and maybe rent/buy a sat phone depending on how remote you are going. Once you go offline, it is amazing how many products will refuse to work that you might rely heavily on to navigate and communicate.

For emergency communications in the outback, the only real option is HF (high frequency/shortwave) Amateur radio. There are many Australian Amateur radio operators that can guide you along in acquiring the needed license. You will have access to emergency contacts as well as email and other modes if required. Look into it

The CB radios are also excellent for chatting with the road train drivers as they can alert you to when safe to pass them

Bring an injury/illness kit for little Occy. Antibiotic ointment, vetrap, a splint, tummy upset meds, allergy meds, iodine or betadine, pain meds, etc. 💛

Look into getting a satellite phone. You won't get telstra everywhere in the outback. It saved us on our last trip into the outback. Deflating tyres also good but that probably won't work with dual tyres. Have a great trip out there. Keep an eye out for dingoes with Occy as they can be aggro. And soak it all in.

i know how you feel I'm on vancouver Island in BC Canada, and usually by April the weather is changing to summer, and right now its just been grey and cold and rainy, i'm over it, 6-7 months of grey is enough, this years its looking like we might only get a couple month summer,.

Occy looks so much happier out if the rain. He was like a puppy with his toy. He might like a small dog pool for your adventure. Assuming water is available, they are great for cooling dogs down. They also fold up nice and small.

I really recommend a full size shovel (or 2) to dig out. I got stuck in mud and only had that foldable shovel. It was very slow going to dig. If we’d had a full size shovel or two I reckon we could’ve dig ourselves out enough to get the trax under but in the end we couldn’t dig out enough so we had to find someone with a 4wd drive and winch to pull us out. Maybe if we’d had a smaller van it could have worked, but the heavy high roof sprinter was too much in the mud. Highly recommend a winch for remote areas too.

Hey Max and Occy, it is great to catch up with you two. I can’t remember seeing Occy with a toy before and his crocodile is beyond precious. I looked forward to “our” road trip onto the middle of Australia and will read along with your suggested book on Audible. I’ll try the push up challenge, but I’m with Aimee, will figure out how to incorporate a physical challenge in June. I almost lost my son to suicide in 2017, but he is doing well now with the correct medication combo. He is currently a mental health a counselor. Have fun on your road trip and I’m glad to see more curls tumbling over your face. (my son has hair similar to yours and he’s grown it out into a ponytail) much love and see you down the road.

I can't do anything but l watch you and l love your support l lost my son from suicide 4years ago we traveled around Australia when he was five. I took him to Darwin and places in the northern territory before heading to Queensland spent time in Melbourne before going to Alice springs he enjoyed talking to native people being British we didn't view them the same. I found thier culture amazing. Have a great trip and be safe

I'm a wildlife photographer and I often travel and camp in very remote places in what are often times extreme weather conditions and dangerous environments - If I would recommend anything for you to invest in, rather than a good WiFi or a good cellphone connection, that would be a satellite GPS system (carry) and an emergency satellite phone! Both are more useful than either internet or cell connection and can save your life - literally - no matter where in the world you are!

Uluru!!! I’m so excited to see your journeys out and around in this chapter of van life. I’ve had some Australian aboriginal literature that I’ve really enjoyed and also culture/history I’ve loved learning about. And with you being aware of the hardship the aboriginal Australians face makes this even more exciting to watch.

@@MaxandOccy just saw this now! I can’t remember the grouping of short stories I read a few years ago. There was also an amazing documentary about Dreaming that is only accessible through educational institutions :( but since you’ve got me looking into all of my aboriginal literature I’ve decided to read Carpentaria by Alexis Wright and That Deadman Dance by Kim Scott. They’re more fiction based in real life rather than non-fiction/memoir type books but they’re both written by reliable authors.
