Yeah, a wide angle adapter will introduce some distortion and more optical imperfections that could push you towards a unique look in-camera.

(as always keep up the great work) One more question I have -- I wonder if there is interaction between focus within the adapter and focus within the base lens, since they are connected electronically (unlike any other anamorphic adapter)? If "yes" I wonder how it would make a difference.

I explain how it makes a difference. I also didn't get to test the soft focus feature, as I didn't feel it helped the anamorphic vibes. :P

there's a bunch to recommend : hypergonar baby 1.75x,, the aiva 1.75x baby (same optical design), the bolex 1.5x baby, the kowa 2x baby. add to that a protodna or the small rapido focusser (fv-something a) and you have a portable setup without need for rails.

I don’t think this is a good faith discussion you’re trying to have. Filmmakers come in all shapes and sizes, and while there are tropes, perpetuating stereotypes minimizes the experience of those who don’t fit those tropes.

@@ryanleethomas What I''m saying is it's a HUGE percentage of the novice filmmaker population. To me it's the biggest glaring elephant in the room and I'm betting you Ryan are in that category and that's what spurred you to say "hey this shouldn't be talked about this, it's not of good faith". What's a copout is not taking care of your health (including your mental health) to remain in such poor condition. I got off my duff and exercises, changed by diet, and prioritized going out and getting some sun. Best shape I've ever been in at 46, and when I was skinny I was diagnosed early stage scoliosis. There's stereotypes in all types of professions yes but I've nothing like this... 99.4% likelihood of this anomaly. It might even be the very reason why films suck today, because statistically an unhealthy person is usually careless and narcissistic, and athiestic narcissists have loose morals, and hence limit themselves to make films that are soft subjective morality tales to avoid any harsh judgement. The films are dark, lack levity, heart, and love and instead are dark, cynical, and depressing. I see so many film students on youtube saying "Godzilla Minus One was amazing" and they wouldn't dare consider the possibility of it being good is because it speaks of moral (some would say biblical) principles like sacrificial love, taking care orphans, and honor.
