When I use Pot of Extravagance I’ll shuffle it for a little bit then just hand the whole deck to my opponent and say “pick 6”. I think it’s the most fair way to pick.

Good method to extravagance ? Use 2d4 with different color and spread the extra in 4 row, 4 column. Row is one color culumn the other (4,4) and already removed card is a reroll.

All my extra deck sleeves are different. Works for locals and that's about it. One of these days I'll fix it.

This is basically an inversion of the sorting problem which is really interesting.

Everybody should always take full advantage of shuffling their opponents deck. Give it a good regular shuffle of dropping half the deck in at an angle like 7 times then you know there's no way it's stacked

always wanted to get a dynamo shuffe to work. but it never will. looks real fancy. but to many people unaware, a dynamo shuffle ends with the cards in the exact same order as when they started. so it wouldnt shuffle at all x'D

Pile shuffle but instead of putting the piles on top of each other, scoop them up and push them into each other (like you showed with the extra deck). Pile shuffling has the advantage of letting you count your deck. I'm siding extra deck cards so I use the same sleeves among main, side and extra deck which makes me really want to avoid shuffling extra deck cards into my deck accidentally. And you can do this reasonably fast between games anyway, just take 4 cards at a time and distribute them among the piles in any pattern, at the end waterfall the remaining 2 or 3 piles into each other and you basically did a more elaborate shuffle which let you count your deck at the same time.

Me and my friend uses dice roll to determine what cards are will get banished for pot of extravagance. Use a 20 sided die and just use 16 - 20 as a re-roll or count as 1-4

I feel like you’re clarifying some things but also giving leeway to those looking for excuse to call a judge over an opponent they can’t get over.

Honestly if I would get extravagance I would forget to shuffle my extra deck because I like my cards from fusion to link

Pile shuffling is supposed to be done with a number of pile prime to the number of cards in the deck. Pile shuffling is the best method to break stacking. Pile shuffling is the only way to check for marking and to seperate sticky cards. No shuffling should be achieve with only one method.

A very general rule for pile shuffle is to never use a number of piles that spreads a deck thin enough to have less than 15% of all cards per pile as you would that way shuffle together many pairs and triples of staple cards you run three times. Generally I try to have a deck with an even tenfold number of cards (like 40, the 4 is even) be split into an odd number of piles. My usual method is 5 piles for 40 cards, 4+3 piles for 50 and 5+4 piles for 60 cards. The extra deck I only pile shuffle after multiple regular shuffles and only in 3 piles, combine, then 2 piles, then combine all again and just take the top 3/6 cards. As of the low number of cards that actually only takes 25 seconds tops. Shuffling piles into each other, I think it's called a riffle shuffle or something like that, is also effective after shuffling regularly, but you need more than 15 cards to have that have a randomizing effect. Also, like shuffling should never be the last instance of shuffling, because, like said in the video, pile shuffling isn't really randomizing, except if you don't do it "clean". You can basically throw the cards to the piles and let them go to the pile where they land the closest to (that sounds way more messy than it is honestly). Or shuffle regularly first, then pile up, then riffle them together to have more randomizing factors.

Never really thought about it when I've encountered that pile shuffle myself. Luckily I still played through and won. The big question is where did that MST wall decoration come from?

I got some 15+ year old official ygo sleeves. they're all crumply and grody but since they're all like that, none are marked per se.

If my opponent inserts a parasite card into my deck as part of its effect and his sleeves looks competent different from mine, how do we shuffle it?

I watched YGOrg's stream and he said you can pile shuffle as long as the amount of piles you shuffle into doesn't multiply into your deck size, creating an "overflow" of where cards would be placed, or something. I don't really get it but always shuffle into 7 piles for most decks.

I have a question, when I side in cards i place them face down on the mat separately then proceed to place the rest of my cards down one by one leaving 8 in 5 card piles. I then put the cards together and shuffle normally. Is that cheating? I do it so my side cards are separate and not clumped together.

Things like this is why I always shuffle my opponent's deck at least 5 times while cutting.

Lmao I had a regional where I told my opponent to final cut, did my cut, passed it on to him and he shuffled the deck again, told him the same thing again 1 more time and he looked at me like a deer looking at headlights. I thought he didn't understand the concept of final cut but once I called to judge over to explain it to him he did the final cut before the judge came, sketch af.

What would you say is the best way to get actual randomization? I used to use the shuffle they use in the anime, but that one didn’t really work, so I tried the non-pile shuffle you use in the video- these days I combine that with messy pile shuffling (grab random stacks and just cut the deck up, restack it, then use the regular shuffle)

I brick with orcust all day every day. I’ve been playing Striker Orcust for like 4-5 months. Only when I’m at locals or any other event do I continually brick 😢.

When I shuffle, I shuffle randomly in hand, distribute into 6-7 piles, change up the order of which I lay down cards on top of the piles with each 6-7 cards, and then shuffle them randomly in hand again. Let me know if there are any problems with this method as I do not have any malicious shuffling intent.

There is a guy at my locals who always takes the top half and bottom half of his deck and interchanges them repeatedly, he never actually mixes the two stacks but the cards are falling out almost, looking like he's mixing up the cards. I always shuffle his deck afterwards but one guy didn't and lost to the non-shuffler multiple times lol

i receive lots of comments regarding how good i shuffle my cards. and thats because i shuffle my deck like i shuffle playing cards rofl (except i dont bend my/their yugioh cards).

why not instead of shuffling with the cards face up you shuffle the cards all face down and represent the sided cards with nother color of sleeves? in that way none cant say that placing the cards upside down is kinda unrealistic because some cards bend by temperature (at least with the change of sleeves you can argue they are in the same natural position)

I always make sure to look up at my opponent while shuffling my deck or my opponent's deck, and I give it a good, long shuffle. One way someone at my locals cuts decks is VERY sketchy to me tho. They peek at your deck to "check that your deck is all facing the same way" Even if you're using artwork sleeves. Even tho it's pretty easy to tell from the opening on your sleeves.

As someone who regularly fiddle around with cards and watches some yugioh tournament, the yugioh pile shuffling has always bothered me. In poker, the dealer is the one who is shuffling the cards which stops the opportunity for the players to stack the deck (unless the dealer is paid, etc). If there refs are right there at a competitive game whey are they not doing the shuffling? Also the shuffling style in yugioh shuffle should be changed to smooshing where cards are mixed randomly. There is even a numberphile video discussing fair shuffling styles and number of shuffles required for a type of shuffle to be perfectly random.

Is it allowed to place your GY, main and extra deck and banished pile for example all on the right side of the field? So i mean is it allowed to put those anywhere you want on the field. Because i hate when my opponent places his stuff in a weird way so you cant really tell whats his GY and whats his banished pile

I watched a video where one guy played extrav and just handed his extra deck to the opponent, trusting he'd banish at random I guess? Anyway the opponent just took the bottom six, put them on top like he 'cut' it then banished those. Most players put the most useable monsters in front/bottom.

So ive been called a cheater because i usually get the same hand,so i decided to shuffle my deck the way my friend does then i let him shuffle the deck,then for some reason i end up with the exact same hand(note i had fresh sleeves on my cards and their was no way they could stick together considering they were sliding all over the place).

Obviously no one wants to assume anyone is cheating, unfortunatelty you do have to watch out for things like this though. Not gonna go too in detail because Id rather not empower cheaters, but this 1 tip should help hopefully. A good place to look if you suspect anything (and in general) is the thumbs, anytime you see someone hook there thumbs even if slightly more than once is probably manipulating. The thumbs are a dead give away because theyre almost impossible to move without any muscle flex showing as opposed to fingertips. Its also something you can view without being confrontational because its normal to be watched while touching cards. For example, just shuffle your own deck a few times right now if its something youve never paid attention to and look at the lower end of your thumb (towards the hand) while you shuffle. If you notice how it moves and feels, and watch his shuffling examples youll see pretty much the same thing. Theres a bunch of other small things people do too but this one will be easier to spot if you never have and once you do you cant unsee it.

I pile shuffle and then do the average pushing the deck into itself. Like how you did with the extra deck. I want my deck to be randomized since my experience as a kid made me realize stacking never helps, if my deck is good then I should draw well randomized. I just don't like a lot of other shuffling methods since it bends cards over time.

It is also advisable to not pile shuffle your deck into a number of piles it is divisible by. Such as 5 or 8 piles for a 40 card deck.

I have a friend who always cuts my deck by taking the top five cards on the top of my deck and places it at the bottom. Is that allowed?

The way you are pile shuffling just isnt random enough, so of course its going to look sketch. You keep either dealing to the same piles consecutively or completely in order and then you collect the piles in order. I always deal randomly and collect randomly. The piles do not need to have the same number of cards. The way you do it leads to an equal distribution, the way I do it randomizes the order. Of course, its always best to follow it up with another form of shuffling before you have it cut. *Edit is as mentioned below*
