I'm not surprised... because all his friends seem shady.

When you become friends with people that can make people disappear, it won't be long before you become missing.

Taking into account whom he spent his time with, my guess is they will never find him.

I still find it strange that literally the day he went missing some girl was asking for £30k. Why? why would you need £30k when he could have been asleep on a bench somewhere?

Theres was nearly £50k of public funded gofundme. Why would the family not offer a massive reward for information leading to him being found or finding out what happened?

As a parent I would have thought these are questions that they would have been asking initially. I think they are beginning to get the idea that their boy was out of his depth with this lot.

J didn't know the Mali boys were part of the top of his pyramid, the watch he stole belonged to one of the top boys, they duped him into a chill out session, he freaked out left and his mystery boss gave him upto the owner of the watch, after spiking him, for good measure. they helped him into passing away after chucking his phone off a lay-by in the mountains. he's probably in the sea, which is why the Mali boys are so confident. see the 'see no, hear no, speak no' post.

I suppose if you have a son who is missing and might be in trouble, it’s still your son and you will want him home. If he is found, I hope he can turn his life around and learn lessons from whatever mistakes he has made. I haven’t said this before, but he is someone’s flesh and blood regardless of his behaviour.

Why do they keep saying he stayed the night? He apparently left the club at 5.30 and it must have taken an hour to get up there by car? He must have been there an hour tops

All that story about Jay leaving on his own back to his hotel via 11-hour long path makes no logic! If you look on google maps, there is regular road around the house he left! It looks civilised, with trafic, with bus stopes, with houses and parking lots etc. ... I do not believe that Jay would deliberately take more dangerous unknown natural path in strange country to his hotel! I think he was lured to that house and never left on his own!

This is sure *one* way to stop tourists coming.

I would investigate WHAT police let the 2 men go with no investigation, something stinks there,far too quick to let them leave & too slow to get forensics in to the air b& b. Lucy knows exactly what's happened,her txts to her friend Chloe is very eye opening.

There is absolutely no concrete proof that Jay ever travelled to the north of the island: just the word of a class A drugs dealer who runs a cannabis cafe on Tenerife, his mate and that of the sister of the drug dealer’s landlord.

Is it any surprise the Spanish police gave up the search when mouthy Bleksley along with other British armchair detectives condemned their efforts.

Are are government going to explain how a convicted criminal is allowed to travel and work in Spain?

If the 2 men are back in the uk, why don’t our police question them?

I think the spanish police need to be investigated, could they be in with the drugs gangs? Why did they take so long to investigate the Airbnb? Why did they not want the UK Police to come over to help with the search? Why did they let a convicted drug dealer go without really been questioned?

The more I learn about Jay Slater the less I'm surprised something has happened to him. He's not exactly an upstanding citizen, is he.

i just hope that they find Jay , i just hope that at best he has been held against his will at least he would be alive and there's hope that he will be freed or found alive. all the terrible things that people are saying about jay and the family , just think about someone you really love and you are very close to , they go missing in another country on holiday , put yourselves in them shoes for a long minute , if you dont have children you will never know that bond and love , you will never know the pain of not knowing where your child has gone , its the worse feeling that you will ever have in your life time , spare a thought for jays family and friends and what they are going through , no one deserves to be in this situations regardless of any ones past , he's a young man and he doesn't deserve to pass away , he doesn't deserve to be missing , he needs to be back with his family ,hopefully this can happen sooner then later

The amount of people that have gone missing over there and had no media attention or even searched for, what makes this person so special. Do they honestly think after 3 weeks he is still alive, if so its all been a massive scam and they are all in on it from day one. Saying that I do hope they find their son.

It is extremely bizarre that from the outset of the investigation the two British nationals should have been deemed "irrelevant". Everyone seemed convinced that the two men, in Tenerife at least, one of whom was a known notorious heroin dealer drug dealer back in the UK, had absolutely nothing to do with Jay's disappearance. They were always relevant. They were the last people to have seen him. Jay had stayed with them. Very very strange.

Why cant the uk police now interview the 2 guys who have now flown back to the uk?

Raise you kids properly and they won't commit knife crimes or robberies and be less likely to get killed. This kid was clearly very underdeveloped and shouldn't have been allowed abroad unsupervised.

Every person that's come in contact with Jay that they have shown the public, definitely look like criminals this is not going to be a good outcome , especially when it comes to drugs and money

To me it smells a lot more like a lad high on drugs who has made a disastrous decision. I think a give away is he was finding his plight funny at one point. I heard a guy died in similar terrain in Spain and it took two years to find him. All very sad, I feel for the family.

If that father is "struggling" it's NOT to understand what's happend to his son, more like he's "struggling to find an excuse to get off his backside & do somthing" but then WHY would he bother? It AMAZE'S me how both father & mother took time to carefully pack their holiday wardrobe's BEFORE "rushing" to the Island, most frightend parent's would have shoved a few of their everyday clothes into a bag & got straight to the airport.... This is about a 19 yr old violent criminal who happily boast's of stealing a £12,000 watch from an unamed person & who is friend's with people deeply involved in drug smuggling, staging an elaborate scam to get him off the Island or hidden SAFELY somewhere on it before his self confessed theft is reported to the police. We only have his friend's word that his phone's battery was low, but i find it hard to believe that given what a "close family" they are supposed to be that he didn't or subsequently hasn't spoken to any of them. Are the family hoping that now they can ask others to begin a search, that someone on their behalf will start another Go Fund Me, which will allow them more time out there in sun? 🤔🤔🤔🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

I feel bad for his family. I hope he is safe but at this point from all I heard it’s obvious it’s not going to be a good outcome.

I think there is a non-zero probability that he is hiding somewhere and hoping it all blows over. Failing that, he is probably dead. His father raging will change nothing, except possibly to make the local police less likely to engage with him. Which, frankly, is stupid.

Has the possibility of alien abduction been looked into?

The mum and dad won’t even do an appeal in front of the cameras…. Why ? Because they know where he is and the body language experts will suss the mum and dad .

I firmly believe 2 19 year old boys (and that's what they are) should never go abroad without at least 1 sensible adult. They aren't mature enough and could easily be led astray. If he has passed away I hope he is found for the sake of his family who at the moment must be going out of their minds with worry. Dad is right though.. something stinks about this!

Only took 3 weeks. We all knew the day it happened. None of it made sence.

I have not commented on this before, but I would just stress to young people, don't act up when going abroad, especially with little experience of travelling and life in general.
