4 Ziploc baggies Saran wrap and three zip ties per horn and I never had to recolor the last three bucks but it also took me like four or five hours a piece so maybe just sticking the skull in the water and restaining it would be easier😂

I’ve flown the ag drone (T40) yeah they could pick a person up, Mike wants to try to lift out a small doe this year if possible 🤣

Just started watching, first podcast I've seen from you guys. on the relation of taxidermy with the younger generation I feel like most of the old fellas decided to drop off once covid hut due to the massively increased costs. However younger generation wise loads of women are getting really into taxidermy as well. Wouldn't say the business is dying would say its as desired as It was in the early 2000s Its just a mildly saturated market with all the upcoming taxidermists but the big established guys have zero issue getting work at all. 👍do a good job and you'll get any hunter paying for it.

@@JenaleeKostella I'm over the sea something I'm super interested in, hoping one of the American chains branch out into the UK at some point. Besides Liquatan and Lutan FN thankfully both work great but ouch that's a tight market! Zero ear liners, basically no one caring about ear butts or ear placement, hardly a wall pedestal form on the market, and our fallow forms being the slimmest summer bucks you can get (and taxidermists rolling with it and not building up forms!!) I accidentally put a 2" rage through the neck of a buck in 2017. Ended up being a 4" entrance, and an 8" exit. 😬 He spun as I shot. It's hidden decently well, but you can tell. It makes for a good story, though.

Wrap base of antlers with foil yhen electrocal tape. The tape shrinks and tightens creating seal around bottom of antlers

Find a container just big enough for the skull to fit in. Fill it with peroxide, just typical peroxide from wal mart up to almost touching the base of antlers. Then drape paper towels over top of the skull and around bottom of bases. Let sit for a day and it will be beautiful white.

First simmer head or light rolling boil for an hour in your pot after getting the meat off best you can. 2ith antlers wrapped like I said. Then take to pressure washer right away or it'll be harder to get meat off. Can then use air compressor to blow out the stuff deep inside the nostrils and long screwdriver but typically don't need screwdriver

Electrical tape your antlers halfway up the main beams and the G 1's continues. Cut it off when you're finished.

I was in KY last week looking at a farm to buy and between myself my dog and my wife we picked off thousands of seed ticks. Had to use a lint roller to get them off. Must be a KY thing? Ohio County area.

I live not too far from there and I get hundreds on me every time I’m in something over my ankle. It’s crazy, thousands if I go in something over my waist.

I live in Missouri, and we get them where I hunt as well. Spraying with something strong is a must early season.

I listen to before the echo and they say the same thing about number being down, as well as thp, I think that region of the country had a bad winter and winter kill was high

Really cool to hear about taxidermy in depth on the pod for the first time. I have not shot enough taxidermy worthy game but it was really cool to hear it from a taxidermist perspectives like the do's and don'ts from the time you kill to when you cape out your animal. I knew that hanging your game and letting it go will draw the blood out, but is there also the idea that it can break down enzymes that are in the meat helping the overall taste and preservation of your meat? Is that true?

Listening to Before the Echo, the guy who lost his vision from eating fresh venison, has me rethinking that practice… toxoplasmosis I lose respect for those who don’t eat what they kill, perhaps it’s more common than I thought, but not the way I was taught, to each his own I suppose. “I just wanna kill it and show off the mount” ☹️
