It's been a massive journey over the last 8 months rebuilding here on the mountain since the wildfire came through only a few months after we bought it, then a flash flood causing a lot of damage to the abandoned homestead. Clear up, rebuilding the water supplies, renovating the garage into a workshop, creating a home for our flock of chickens to live in, digging out the pond to create a nature space and so much more.
Here's some of the things we've done in that time to make it a liveable space for us and our animals.

Theo and Bee gave up their busy city lifestyles in 2014 to explore alternative living, and have lived in vans and boats since then without looking back! Along with their cat Ginjey Bear they have been driving around the world in their self converted Sprinter van. However, when the global pandemic hit they began converting their abandoned stone barn in Central Portugal to turn into a wonderful tiny stone cottage. Along the way, they have rescued a playful cat called Furrnando and have a wonderful flock of Chickens!

I feel exhausted watching this. I have watched the whole process but to see it altogether like this just really brings home, once again how much work you have done. Oh honey, I always click like before watching the video - because I know I will like it and that YT may not give me a chance after. If there is a "Miracle" it's watching you, Bea, heal and grow stronger. Watching Theo learn so many excellent skills, materials and vehicles. It's watching you both grow and the living things on your land grow. It was a joy to watch you build your little stone cottage, but this is a dream - a full sized home with room for guests and for your mom to visit with her own space. You two are amazing and always learning. Thank you for taking us along for the ride - we are learning as you do. Even though we've seen almost all of this, the new bits are a joy to see and again to watch the land come back to life, both on it's own and with your help. As always I'm writing too much but just know that you are admired and cared for.

You two are absolute dynamos! I can't help admiring your willingness to take on any kind of project, be it plumbing, wiring, excavating, or animal husbandry. It must have been shattering to have had to deal with damage from fire and flood - not surprising you needed a mental health break. Perfect timing for this video. Right now, I have fire fighters upour mountain trying to stop a wildfire from destroying our water system catchment . In the past week, we have had fire on 3 sides. And, next week...rain is in the forecast for the first time since November. We are kindred spirits. ❤

I bet it amazes you to look back at all you’ve done. You really have a beautiful property for you to enjoy but your animals too. Wow it’s amazing to see how much you’ve progressed and that eight months have passed by already. You’ve achieved a lot in a fairly short amount of time. I know that this took a toll on you emotionally, but you kept on going one day at a time and didn’t give up. Look at all that you’ve accomplished!!! I live in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 and we’ve experienced similar levels of destruction as a result of hurricanes sweeping through our island, so I can relate to what you’ve gone through. It’s one day at a time and not giving up. Take some breaks along the way if needed, or if you feel overwhelmed, refresh and recharge and then keep going. Blessings from the Caribbean.
