Hey everyone. I've been working on this video pretty much the second the Patreon Post talked about in the video became public so it's been very tiring but I finally got it out and I'm pretty proud of it so I hope you guys enjoy it as well! If you have any criticisms about how the video is made like audio, editing, etc. then feel free to comment! Thanks for watching.
Oh also some things I forgor to say in the video: 1. Apologies if my voice sounded a bit off/crackly at times, unfortunately I've been sick for the past week and my throat hasn't fully healed yet. 2. All of the images in the Thoughts section for the Unity 2021 and HDRP section are Work-In-Progress images, meaning that it could be different to the beta/final release. 3. I don't know absolutely EVERYTHING about game development so sorry if I got some of the technical information wrong in the video, feel free to correct me in the comments if I did!
Yeah it's honestly a 50/50 if we do get something else big in the update. If we do get something else then I could see it being the Surface Rework to show off the capabilities of the new lighting. Or I could see the Human Rework as they talked about the new lighting adding more depth to models but I genuinely have no clue, we'll just have to wait I suppose.
@@IceyManDude the clouds you mention as well as the lighting would probably work as a good frame work for a Surface rework either in Refracted Reality or one of the following .0 patches after after it
@@IceyManDude Hubert mentioned that 049-2 would be getting a new model after they fix his attacks and animations so that's something to possibly keep on the radar
I’m surprised the GPS item from containment breach hasn’t been added to the game, like a handheld minimap that you could upgrade in 914 to give you the full map layout as well as letting you know what SCPs are near and how near they are, could even be another item certain MFT spawn with to find any SCPs hiding, so like the 079 scanner but for human players looking for the SCPs, not a major item, but I think if a few select of them are in the map, could help diverse certain scenarios and add more variety to the gameplay, can also help that last D-Boy coming in for the clutch, with a map helping him out by giving him the right route to go through to avoid death, would be cool right?
I believe Northwood doesn't like taking ideas from Containment Breach, as they've been trying to give SL a unique identity of it's own. But even despite that, I feel like a map item would make the game a bit too easy, knowing exactly where to go and such. I could see some kind of SCP Sonar be added in the future though, as it'd definitely help with situations like SCPs hiding and I feel like it's different enough to not be a strictly Containment Breach idea! Maybe make it a unique item for MTF Captains only? Would make sense gameplay and lore wise.
this sounds like an extremely overpowered item, either it needs to be limited to a rare 914 recipe or MTF commanders only, it could perhaps come with the human rework in the future
@@idkanymore6897 that was my original idea, you having to use specific 914 recipes to make it broken, but regular or better ones would also just be very rare items, so like maybe having 1 in light containment that just saves the map as you go, or having a slightly better one with a MTF member that saves the map as well as detect nearby SCPs, but upgrading it could have the map already filled and give precise information on nearby SCPs, but again make it rare so it isn’t as broken, I feel like it could be one of those items that with a lot of luck and skill could be used with lots of potential but most of the time doesn’t get far in light containment from all the chaos that ensues at the start of each round, you feel me?
Aaahh so now I see why Peanut is in warhead. Refracted Reality might be an update that experiments with various alters of gameplay (e.g. peanut players spawning in warhead, 079 players having to work around not locking single doors, etc). It makes sense seeing as the update would be using different outcomes from different realities! (Hence why peanut will have a different spawn)
Oh very important notice about that actually! There's been a common misconception around the SL community that those changes are CONFIRMED for the next update. This isn't true, as Northwood uses the "PEARS" tests (which is where those features were experimented) to just see how these changes could THEORETICALLY affect gameplay. It definitely is POSSIBLE that one or two PEARS changes come in the update, but don't expect ALL of them to. For more information you can read this document!: docs.google.com/document/d/1b6Nc4nw9yZ2_Pn65mGFw_OBXVTjRbx51MMFRymyaBnE/edit
Makes sense! I see why they’d make them an uncertain addition to the game, just incase it might have a negative affect on gameplay (e.g. having all SCPs spawn in heavy would make the entirety of that area a death trap. Especially for guards).
@@BowelSyndrome id definitely feel like they should try making it so such an occurrence would extremely rare if it was possible, it would make for an amusing game for the SCPs but would probably not be very fun if it happened 1 out of 3 games
You’re new to this stuff? Bro you’ve nailed it, I have no idea how you don’t have over 1000 subscribers. This video was still informative while still being entertaining/humorous, along side, the editing was really nice, not too much in you’r face but not too little. And everything else was just as good. Take my sub.
Yeah I feel that, definitely had some charm to it back in the day with the cheesy Unity and Containment Breach assets and everyone not knowing exactly what they're doing lol. But I think it's for the best that SL strayed away from that stuff and evolved, definitely makes it a unique experience!
Very true, I think my main issue with it is that there’s almost no counter play to it. With the Micro HID and Particle Disruptor you have two options, you kill the person with it, or you run away. With The Jailbird it’s almost impossible to do either when you’re constantly getting “flashbanged”. I think if they replace the flashed effect with the blur effect (like when you get shot with the Particle Disruptor) it’d be fine.
Fair point, however, do remember that it’s very easy to make the micro in 914 if you get a bunch of guns from the light armory and spam the very fine setting.
I eagerly await the day where we will get more Groups of interest other than the Chaos and MTF. Hell I'd like to see some of the other task forces appear. Like NU-7 hammer down. Or the GOC because fuck anomalies. Or the serpents hand because fuck anomalies. Hell it would be funny to have the UIU there too.
Haha glad you noticed that! While editing I was trying to find a song that might have a beat drop at that specific timing and somehow The Final Flash of Existence fit perfectly with no editing required!
about switching from 2019 built in to 2021 HDRP (which I’m currently developing a game with) It basically going from using all the power of your cpu (which in most cases probably isn’t a lot) to using the power of a gpu (which is 50 - 100x more powerfu) and also some visuals might look better since HDRP has some very interesting visual tools (VFX Graph for example)
also wit hthe trim idea you could construct sentences to make it not the same so it could be used for a "guys help dogs nearby please let me in" "please let me in" "guys, dog" ect
slight nerf to jailbird sounds reasonable. mainly, you have to convert a particle disruptor which murders non-scp with much better range or a micro which one-clips scps to a single jailbird which... idk if it's actually that OP.
Video is very entertaining and the quality is top notch. However, I want to make a point here that is criminally overlooked. SCPs are way too strong now. With the recent changes (especially to 939, 173 and 079) it's very unlikely for humans to win no matter the side. Well above 80% of all lobbies I play end up with SCPs domination. It's getting so bad to the point where I feel genuinely sorry for players I kill as scp-173 (it's so easy it feels like cheating). Also camping as humans early-game in LCZ is very rewarding (which is obviously a negative thing). I don't call for SCPs to get heavily nerfed (despite the fact they deserve it) coz overall structure of them is on point. My real proposition here is to reduce the number of SCP per player/match. E.g. currently for 20 player lobby - there are 16 well-divided human class and FOUR SCPs. In this situation, how do humans even come close to Winning that round? In My Opinion one SCP per 9/10 players would be absolutely enough. I surely can't be the one that feels this way. What do you guys think? Do you also get rounds that last up to 4 minutes?
Yeah I can feel where you’re coming from, it’s definitely near impossible to survive as a human class in LCZ, especially with a 173 + 079 combo. I hope either in this update, or perhaps a future patch that they use the idea from their PEARS test and move 173 to Heavy but we’ll see.
9/10 players for each scp feels unfair. scps can easily get shredded by mass numbers (2 scps against like 18-20 people) and itll be too unfair for them. and if theres only 1 scp, it wont be enough to kill off all the humans and spawnwaves will keep happening until they get lucky and have the targets killed before they do. something like 7/8 players per humans sounds fair enough but not sure. although 9/10 could work if scps got higher hp
I think the jailbird needs either a different recipe or micro needs more accessibility. The 3-x is similarly overpowered but no one uses it because you'd sacrifice the Micro.
Well to be fair it's already pretty easy to get a Micro if you're able to get all the guns from the LCZ armory + any guns you may already have on you into 914 but I can understand where you're coming from as Micro DOES do the most damage.
even tho i hope the update comes with another big things like a model update or a surface rework, its still good as it is and i will def shit my pants when it comes out, frfr
I agree, I feel like people have been a little too harsh on it. Especially with the speed it's come out compared to other updates. Also I'm sorry to hear about your pants.
@@IceyManDude oh no, also I agree I think it needs to get nerfed to remove the flash before it can be an obtainable item. Cant wait to hear people screaming and then blowing up in the distance tho lol. It’d probably be unfair against 173 tho because he cant move out of the way easily which is why 173 definitely deserves a rly high amount of health and Hume shield
Yes actually! As a Partner with the game we're getting early access to the Beta on April 1st at 1 PM EST! I'll be streaming it on my Twitch and probably upload a round of gameplay as soon as I can!
Honestly I am hoping for RTX, I haven't really had any games that have the ray tracing settings, because of that I haven't been able to try my new GPU with ray tracing.
Okay but that is for rich ppl with high end pc on this new update, what about poor ppl like me with a potato pc, will i get more fps on this version? 1050ti i5 7400 8gb ram
Honestly I have no clue. Hopefully with the updates to their engine and render pipeline it’ll provide some more optimization for everyone else? I’m not a dev though so don’t mark my words on that.
HDRP is unfortunately a good amount more resource intensive compared to the Universal or Built-In Pipeline. I'm actually surprised they didn't use the URP. Its the alternative to HDRP which is optimized for performance instead of high fidelity graphics. You would only go for the HDRP if resources are of no concern and you're trying to get a photorealistic look. Also the URP can still achieve very nice looks its just lacking a few things that would be needed for very high quality stuff like volumetric light (General rule of thumb is a similar scene in URP will run about 20-30 percent better compared to HDRP)
Interesting! I'll definitely be curious to see how the performance will overall be for everyone, newer and older PCs alike. Thank you for the informative response!
As a low end pc player, i hope they keep the option to turn off light rendering since the new light system rework is gonna absolutely destroy my computer, even on the lowest settings with a semi decent gpu (gt 740) i still have to play on 640x400 res and even then i get about 40 fps. Also i think the new Unity 2021 and HDRP update does optimize for low end pcs but very minimally.
Yeah I think they'll keep the option to turn off the light rendering, don't see why they wouldn't. Let's hope the updates to Unity and the Render Pieline do a bit more for optimization than we expect!
Yeah that's true. I think my point was more-so that it didn't seem like there was much counterplay to it as with the Micro and Particle Disruptor, you can either try to kill the person using those weapons, or run away. While with The Jailbird applies a Flashbang effect that you can chain repeatedly, not really allowing you either of those options. So I guess my only problem with it is the Flashed effect, the weapon itself damage-wise is fine. Thank you for the comment!
Nope the 079 scan is way too much of a buff, Hubert has gotten dozens of complaints over the years for SCP camps and his only change was to add in two checkpoints over one. If he's adding this in he might as well add in multiple S-NAV's in lockers so humans can tell when an SCP is 2 rooms away from them if he's giving 079 this power.
Yeah, IF they have something else big come along with the update I think the Human Rework is most likely but we probably shouldn't get our hopes up too high.
we need soap in the bathrooms. sanitation is very important. do you know how many buttons you have to press to navigate the facility? you have to have clean hands. it is disgusting.
If it's got a newer GPU then it's very possible! If not then hopefully the engine update will help a little bit and the new lighting isn't too harsh on older hardware.
Super small minority but hoping this new unity change would allow me, a Mac player to jerry rig the game to actually work compared to just getting black screen like currently
