I think Hakari using a binding vow has a lot of potential. Imagine him using a binding vow and risking everything on a DE, if he wins a jackpot he gets infinite CE for like the entire day, if he loses he dies. This would fit the ultimate gambler Hakari.

binding vows are arguably one of the most op things in the verse tbh. kashimo's ct could be argued to a under a binding vow thus it amped him up by a ton. sukuna himself also tends to abuse this with how much he knows about jujutsu as a whole, it wouldnt be far fetched to say he also made full use of it in conjunction with fighting other strong people to get as strong as he is now

Curse Naoya decreased his base durability in exchange for increasing it whilst moving. The 10 shadows’ bull has a similar vow.

Oh there are a lot of speculation based binding vows but I only wanted to include things that were specifically stated to be binding vows. For example Yuta only being able to use full power for 5 minutes. Not stated to be a binding vow so I didn’t include it

@@TheEternalFlame57Besides heavenly restrictions there’s no other term for binding vows or in other words conditional vows that are risk/reward. Even though it’s not stated verbatim, they’re all examples of binding vows.

You forgot about the binding vow that yuta made on how he had to kill yuji but then he ended up basically reviving him after which is a form of bypassing it

4:47 he removed the reinforcement in his left arm to increase the reinforcement in the rest of his body which allowed him to live which the thing approves or disapproves self made binding doesn’t take in to consideration

I can very easily see a situation where someone in the world of jujutsu kaisen primarily uses binding vows to make themselves stronger instead of training cursed energy normally because it seems easier for someone to accidentally find out about binding vows then for them to find out about cursed energy as a whole.

Bro, this deserves a whole nother video explaining them and interpreting them. Binding vows carry such a potential energy literally if Kenjaku wanted he could easily release all cursed energy from humans. This feels like mental alchemy from full metal alchemist. Nothing sacrificed, nothing gained. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets revealed that kenjaku and sukuna have both made binding vows that force them to persist through the ages, limiting the affect on the world during that time, to do something crazy. Like, we all kinda have agreed on Takaba (sorry if I wrong) being able to reshape reality to his sense of humor. A binding vow to never laugh again would be insane.

JJK's power system was partly inspired by HxH's Nen. So the moment I read about Binding Vows I really thought someone would abuse Binding Vows like how Kurapika kinda abused nen conditions to make himself so insanely OP against the Phantom Troupe, but still have enough versatility to be a nightmare to fight. Sukuna came close to that, but Binding Vows feels a but underutilized imo.

I wonder how direct and specific the conditions of breaking a binding vow between two sorcerers are, and whether the agreed upon wording or individual subjective interpretation matters more when deciding whether the vow has been broken or not. The BV of revealing one’s hand can be cheesed because revealing partial information is still revealing information, and you can balance the amp from the Vow with the surprise factor of an unknown aspect of your technique. It’s almost like a double one sided Vow where neither side needs to agree upon it, but both are affected by it. A direct pact like the one Mahito made with Mechamaru would operate differently. It seems they couldn’t interpret fixing his body as transfiguration in general and was held to a specific result. Mech also couldn’t attack Mahito until after despite already fulfilling his side of the vow or else he’d have been disrupting the completion of the vow on Mahitos end. There doesn’t seem to be much room for one side to have 1 idea of what the agreement is while the other has an entirely different interpretation. This question is important bc depending on how a broken vow is decided, Sukuna may have either finessed the hell out of Yuji or he broke their enchain vow twice in the same minute. He incapacitated Hanna, despite it being non lethal it was an attack and arguably caused harm, and he hurt Yuji. Yeah Sukuna said he didn’t count himself but the agreement never made any direct specifications in that regard, the wording was “anyone”(unless translations got me fucked up) so what Yuji or Sukuna considered as part of it may not actually matter as much as what the shared agreement actually was. Depending on how this gets fleshed out, Sukuna may get hit with the heavenly fuck you for being a dumbass and assuming what he could get away with, or Sukuna could perform actions that can easily be interpreted as breaking the vow with loopholes never actually seen in the vow itself. Hope Sukuna gets hit with the affects of a broken vow bc 1. I wanna see what had kenjaku acting cautiously and 2. Fuck Sukuna. Edit: kenjaku bypassed his vows not by changing bodies bc he still has active vows with ancient sorcerers like Sukuna that are very unlikely to have been made in the time he spent between snatching Megumis body and Gojo being unsealed, rather he made the vows with curses and bc he curse manipulation he can play both sides of the vow and essentially nullify it the same way he was able to use tengen and his own barrier skill to cheese the Kogane into adding a rule it wouldn’t have to the culling games

I could see an entire team boosting their power by something like a day shift team and night shift team. Day shift vows to only use X% during the night so they get a boost in the day. Night shift is the reverse. You could also do something like vowing to only use a specific weapon. It’s a cool way to get creative.

Imo Kenjaku only nullified the binding vows with cursed spirits when he obtained Geto's body bc of cursed spirit manipulation Not bc of his body hopping technique

Sukuna says that cause it was stronger then 120% it has to be a binding vow. He is not aware of Utahime’s technique and is basically a binding vow can surpass the 120% limit

According to the official fanbook for Jujutsu Kaisen Gege said that Kenjaku could heal the visible scars on the bodies he takes over with reverse cursed technique but doesn't for a binding vow.

@@TheEternalFlame57 Yeah, it wasn't stated in the fanbook what it did so we can only speculate but I'd like to think it grants a better intelligence and understanding of the cursed technique of the bodies he inhabits. He has a literal open mind and sacrifices his ability to fully disguise as that person as they were, so he gets a more metaphorical open mind that allows him to understand things better. I think that would be fitting.

did you know that the fire technique that Sukuna used has a very special condition? The opponent has to be strong or it cant be used against them. Sukuna made a binding vow in order to use it

Think itadori/gege made a mistake as “anyone” in the binding vow should have totally included himself since, ya know, sukuna ripped out his own heart that one time. You think he would definitely think of himself after that experience lol

I wonder what matters more: agreed terms or subjective interpretation. We know it’s possible to break binding vows from Kenny warning Mahito not to, so it’s still very possible Sukuna was right and still broke it bc the wording was “anyone” whether Yuji thought of himself in that moment or not may not actually matter. Depends on how strict binding vows are about the fine print. Then there’s the question of what counts as “harm” bc the second after he chants enchain, Sukuna incapacitates Angel. He wasn’t using lethal or crippling attacks but he still basically hit a sneak slam on her, which is 100% an act of aggression. Does the fact it was “gentle” negate the attack as a violation? Or did Sukuna unknowingly violate the same binding vow twice? I lowkey hope it’s revealed he actually did, so we can see what happens when you break one on the mf who deserves divine intervention the most

See I had theory that sukuna actually did break the binding vow. Kenjaku said you don’t know when or how the punishment will come when breaking a binding vow. It wasn’t said to be an immediate thing. So what if sukuna did actually break the vow and it kicks in at a point in the fight and gives them a chance to bring sukuna down
