Yah me too! I was really impressed with the short stories on the site and coupled with the promise of Interstellar-level heart-string pulling, brain-popping storytelling, I'm super excited
Don’t forget Drew Karpyshyn also wrote the three Mass Effect novels, Revelation, Deception and Retribution, all of wich where awesome!! I’ hyped for Exodus, I’m all in for it
I'm curious to learn more about this game, but I have to admit. I've heard these same promises from devs before, and almost never have they paid off. So that has me a little nervous.
I hope it will come out soon (meaning i guess like 2025 or 26) and i hope it will be a mass effect like game, that would be great, especially with the technology that is more close to what we can understand ;) aand i am glad that the studio is filled with rpg experts :) the gameplay looked good and the trailer music was a little hint about the black hole in the star cluster (which is a captured small galaxy) wish all a happy new year 2024 from germany!
Ofc it is... Remnants, Ark, recolonizing, ancient space robots. Kinda sounds like an Andromeda remake. But way cooler. It all sounds very promising. Just hope that the space dillution wont make you feel put of touch with what you leave behind every time you go on a mission.
Great vid Mr. Hulten! I like the action packed short vids you make. Fun fact (I think). at 6:30, you read "Elohim." This is a Hebrew word used in the Bible, either as a title for the God of Israel himself, or as a generic word for "gods." Pronunciation based on ancient texts is: eh-loh-HEEM. That, along with the word "celestials" seems like this race is quite powerful and god-like.
"Elohim" is a Hebrew word, the plural of "god" (although when referring to the Jewish God, it's considered singular). It's pronounced "el-oh-HEEM". Also, I would bet money the pig named Charlotte is a reference to the children's book "Charlotte's Web" which is about a spider named Charlotte who saves a pig named Wilbur from being slaughtered.
I got the Charlotte reference right away but not the Elohim. The Elohim Celestials(and I'm going to include the other divergent Celestials as well) must be really haughty to take a name like that, since we already know they view their Human ancestors as primitive and no better than animals. Going to be fun taking them down.
Your video did such a great job of talking about what is known about the game. Thanks for going over that, I was excited before seeing your video and now Exodus is probably my #1 most anticipated game, right next to ME4 of course
Yeah buddy a game set in the future in space will most definitely have diverse characters and characters you dont deem that should be represented in our society. You people are so mindless its hillarious, completely ignoring that stuff like dragon age and mass effect are some of the most heavily leftist works of art. You can fuck humanoid aliens for fucks sake, like thats more woke than a lgbtq person just existing XD
There are no words for how freaking excited I am that studios like this one and Larian are *finally* finding their feet and showing everyone what's possible when creative freedom and talented devs are allowed to do what they love. Even more, when they're allowed to take as long as it takes and put the funding where it's needed rather than where they're told to put it. It's been *so long* since there was a brilliant Sci-Fi RPG. I cannot wait for this.
choices, companions and a sci fi world to explore. I haven't experienced anything like this since the mass effect trilogy. i'm so genuinely excited for this game.
I've seen some people on YT and socials saying generic or whatever, or not paying attention. Yet another trap of general audience. Not only it is created by very talented people, but clearly there is a wish for big sci-fi RPG, and it is free for anyone to capture the audience. At least until next ME. Really excited about this game.
I hope it is less goofy than most bioware games, and more serious, mature entertainment. And in the gameplay side too, with tactical gameplay, not silly shooting.., better if rtwp tactical, or even tbs. Also hope it has space action, exploration, its a sci-fi game, can we have actual meaty space part to it, not just in images and story.
Well i bet there's gonna be aliens, question is if they're gonna be sentient. Then again, you could basically say that Celestials are aliens since they're so far away the evolutionary chain to be considered human ;)
so mass effect-like chrono trigger with modern technology backing it up in space if i understand correctly? Well, i was already interested when i heard Drew Karpyshyn
With a recent Sci-Fi let down still hurting I'm going to rein in my expectations just a tad.. but, man it looks amazing, I can't wait to see how Charlotte fits in.. will there be a gene'd spider called Wilbur?!
I'm excited for the game, but when Unreal Engine 5 became a synonym for "smooth experience"? All I heard so far is that UE5 has heavy frame time issues in many games to this day.
Mass Effect was a spiritual continuation of the Kotar series- without the LucasArts Licensing. At a guess that's when EA became the sole producer of Starwars games.
If they do it right, and keep all the promisses. This game could rival Mass Effect. I definitly would love it if the make a female companion from this Celestials. I mean we already have a non human companion , you see one in the trailers. He looks like a massive robot who maybe could be sentient
I'm actively trying to not get to hyped about this game, but the leads of the studio haven't disappointed me yet with any of the games they've been heavily involved with.
Be interesting if we can change up our character during the game with the whole genetic engineering thing. Like we start out as looking like a basic human but can change. And the awakened species thing, I’m wondering few things on that as wonder might see bi pedal animal like aliens as well.
Just found out about this game and I'm already hyped, we really need more larger than life sci fi RPGs. There's too much generic sci fi going around, gimme something good!
The economy, weapons, armors and anything else could change after every time dilation jump depending on how long the jump lasts, from decades to centuries. I just hope they don’t overwhelm themselves too much.
Just in case nobody told you yet, the word Elohim is pronounced with a long e sound at the end, "elōˈhēm". It's a Hebrew word that refers to God or gods. Thanks for the video about Exodos. 😇
Looks great so far, but I need to see a lot more, before deciding to purchase or pass on the game. The game is being developed by many former BioWare emploees, so that's a huge plus. Time will tell, but I'll be keeping my eyes on this game.
It looks so goid I love this writer bioware loosing him was a huge mistake and exact why I am worried about me5 - no andromeda just me1-3 with more me2 ne3 story action not me1
Maaaaan....first time I ever heard of this game and I'm already excited for it haha I don't want to set my expectations too high (looking at you Starfield) but for now, this seems like a great concept and game! I'm in! :)
Hm...it sounds interesting, but if the space travel always advances time by a "lifetime" then that sounds bad, I mean one of the great things of the Mass Effect games was being able to travel to the game's hubs (Citadel, Omega, etc.) whenever you wanted (unless it's during a mission of course) :) Also haven't seen much aliens yet and without them it'll be a tad boring, the likes of Tali, Liara, Garrus, Wrex etc. made Mass Effect truly worth playing! If I had only had human companions, then it would have been a tad bland!
The game looks interesting but I do have reservations for the story. Time dilation may sound cool as a concept, but it's also incredibly easy to get wrong. I do have trust in their abilities, but time will tell.
Archetype Entertainment seems pretty confident in that they got this concept down right for their game so I'm not to worried. With this being an RPG game where player choices will be different from each player and the timeline being 10s of thousands of years in the future, Time Dilation will play well with future sequels. You can have Players make different choices by the end of the first game, then have the sequel game set 20,000yrs later where those choices made in the first aren't so relevant anymore.
I wonder if we will encounter sentient aliens not associated with human mutation. I would hate it if humans were the end-all and be-all in the universe.
I'm interested in this but I heard they are planning to go down the no playable ship combat route unfortunately. I hate when the protagonist and their allies have armed ships in RPGs but you never get to control the ship in battle.
It would be really cool if they tied in the celestials with real history where the celestials came to earth thousands of years ago and were worshipped as God's. Like the stories of the Anunaki or Egyptian gods. Plus the "elohim" sound alot like the Nephalim. Which in the Bible were fallen angels that God cast out from heaven.
Yeah I think so. I think they have these Transhumans calling themselves "Celestials" because they think they're gods to their base Human ancestors. And going by what the provided lore has stated about them and James Ohlen himself, they are Tyrants who're very haughty and think their Human ancestors are primitive. With their advance technology and heavy genetic engineering on their DNA, they think their closer to gods than Humans lol.
While I'm sure there will be other aliens, I actually like this concept. Its literally like if you go into the future and meet your 10x great gandchild, except its the scale of Humanity. Humans meeting their descendants and seeing how alien they look.
Whilst i do hope this game is good, as we haven't gotten many quality Sci-Fi games recently, im ultimately not going to be as interested for this game as i otherwise would be if there doesn't end up being any intelligent extraterrestrial life. Because im tired of these Sci-Fi games just rehashing the idea "what if humanity but in space", thats not what makes space interesting for me, i don't care about humanity breaching that barrier and colonizing the stars, because colonizing other planets would be pretty fucking boring if there isn't anything there but just some fauna and flora. I want to see what other alien societies look like, and how unique their morphology is compared to humans. And in terms of aliens in games, i want them to actually look alien and not be just humans with different colored skin (Asari, im looking at you, your head tenticles aren't enough) There's also more to it than that, even if there is intelligent life in this game, i doubt there will be exploration of their cultures and politics. As i said, i like to see how their societies function compared to our own, thats what i like about Mass Effect, the aliens aren't just enemy types that you only learn more about in lore texts. Turians and Quarians are facinating because i get to SEE how they function socially, and not by reading a pamphlet.
Only a cgi trailer it can actually look that good and play like that only if the devs want to do the work to make a epic game smh mfs been lackluster af this gen
The Mass Effect killer. There are some seriously impressive names making Exodus.. this will most definitely be my go to for space RPG. The people making it alone sell it. Its a shame for ME but with Mike Gamble running the show its doomed.
