I'm kinda happy this didn't happen. Disney has a HORRIBLE track record "refreshing" or "replacing" things. The original Imaginations pavillion? The Great Movie Ride? Horizons to Mission: Space? They always go backwards and cheaper... never forward. Even the last big refresh of Spaceship Earth took the ride backwards and made it worse. I think we're lucky this is dead.

I'll give you Imagination, and Mission Space but I think Runaway Railway is an upgrade from the Great Movie Ride. I loved and miss it too, but it was definitely showing its age and I think it was time. If they had to change it, I think they did a great job on that one. That being said...LONG LIVE DREAMFINDER!

@@FleetwoodfellaHonestly, I'm legitimately impressed with how spectacularly they managed to bungle that ride. I mean the idea behind it is so strong that it literally writes itself! All it needed was someone with a minimal imagination & an actual budget! Unfortunately though apparently Disney no longer needs to set the standard anymore as they already have their cult fanbase who'll gladly lap up whatever garbage is laid in front of them.... Hopefully maybe Universal can pick up the torch?

Its all up in the air and in the hands of Bob Cheapek. He's predominantly makin all the calls when it comes to ride/attractions/lands/shows implementation or changes. Imagineers are PISSED! I hope Destination D will give us updates on the postponed project although I really really really want to announce a Figment revamp or replacement cause that attraction has been drowning in the river over the past couple decades and it's not well loved.

When first announced I was disappointed by the plans for Spaceship Earth but after watching this I'm actually disappointed that may not happen. I love the story of communication and technology but the emphasis on story telling, culture, as well as technology actually sounds just as good.

The upcoming Spaceship Earth refurbishment will be just like all of the other attractions coming to EPCOT, IPs that doesn’t make sense in that park.

I disagree. I think they have done mostly Good with tastefully adding IP into appropriate area. IE remy in France. For Epcot loving adults with young kids these things are going to allow us to continue to enjoy Epcot as our children grow.

@@cjosburn4 Making EPCOT more "Disney" is literally changing the original purpose of EPCOT. It was meant to be a year round World's Fair. It was a place where you could experience different countries and a vision for the future. While yes, Future World got old and needed to change, adding Moana, Nemo, and Guardians of the Galaxy was not the way to change it. And World Showcase? Other than Coco, which isn't even confirmed to come, and Ratatouille, none of the IPs that are in any rides of experiences show you anything about the cultures of the world or what they have to offer. What does Frozen have to do with showing you the unique experiences of Norway? Maelstrom did it much better, and while a little bizarre, was much better than Frozen Ever After. They're turning EPCOT into Magic Kingdom 2.0, and I don't like it. If they're making all the parks have the same theme, what's the point of going to them? You'll get the same thing. And yes, in some cases the original themes of parks were bad and needed to be changed, like DCA, but EPCOT's theme was good! But now it's becoming an incoherent mess of Disney and IP.

@@cjosburn4 I don’t know man. My family took us to Epcot the second day it was open in 82 when I was 8. We used to go to MK a lot since we lived in St Pete. Epcot instantly became my favorite park even at that age. Granted I was a kid that was always trying to learn stuff but don’t underestimate your little ones.

Disney Parks have always had sponsors for attractions. Perhaps it was a holdover from the 1964 World's Fair. I suspect that sponsorships help to keep costs down. The entrance fee probably just covers things like maintenance and cast member wages.

It's pretty ballsy to climax the attraction with a paean to how the Internet has democratized our ability to tell our stories while Internet censorship by mainstream and social media conglomerates is reaching crisis levels. This ride's futurist vision of the Internet is 20 years out of date.

Of all the updates announced this was what I was most excited about. As an aspiring writer, I thought using storytelling as the thing that connects us all really felt appropriate. The story light was a fantastic idea. I'd imagine it would be a mix of projection mapping and what they use for the magic dust in Mystic Manor. Hopefully, we still get it and Dreamers Point because if there was ever a place to celebrate the ideas of Walt, it should be EPCOT. Even if what we got is VASTLY different than his original idea

I hope they don't change it any time soon. I grew up with Dame Judy Dench's narration and the amazing score the ride has. The thing I'd miss the most is absolutely the music.

@@acornies8597 ratouille and soarin are great, haven’t been on frozen and I’m sure it’s good and I actually loved the gran fiesta tour. But spaceship earth is the defition of outdated, living with the land is awful besides the greenhouse scenes which are actually really cool, figment is just ew and mission space is incredibly outdated when compared to any other interactive simulation ride and makes you sick. Test track is fine but just a worse reason of the cars ride. And I actually love animal kingdom it’s my favorite but that’s not “classic” Disney in the sense of timing cause it might have amazing parks but they’re not old enough to be classic

I honestly don't think the attraction would have been a ride. I feel like we would have gotten something similar to "Enchanted Tales with Belle" where we enter #17 Cherry Tree Lane and then end up stepping into a drawing with Marry for an elevated meet and greet. Still would have been cool though and I hope we get that one day also.

They need to remove the onboard screens altogether! We look at screens all day long as it is. They should go back to version 3.0 with finale music as a starting point for reimagining the 2nd half of the ride. It was far more immersive and invoked an emotional response vs cheesy animation and infinity Christmas lights.

Also; personally I hate the "story"-light thing.. It feels so shoved down our throats, to create a "story"light story-line artfically throughout human development,and "its supposed" origin..Human development is so much more, faith, spirituality, science, art, language, engineering...It not ALL about this lame storytelling theme, pushed in there, afterwards.. my main issue with this new version of Spaceship Earth is that it’s going to completely change the premise of the parks integrity and purpose. The ride is meant to tell us about the future, not so much the storytelling aspect. the storytelling part was with the little video screen stuff with the future of tomorrow.

Well, the ride was about how humans communicate and how information is shared. Storytelling makes up the vast majority of communication within human history. I'd say it was the other way around, with a large portion dedicated to how we communicated in the past and small glimpse of the future. Also, Disney has long given up on trying to predict the future. that died when Horizons died. Trying to predict the future is too expensive because it would have to be updated almost every year. I agree I do miss disney taking risks in trying though.

Need to have the digital age where you have a bunch of people just staring down at the phones and not interacting with the world around them, that'll be truthful to reality! Also Walt would have been good, perhaps an animatronic like in the Hall of Presidents, or maybe something along the line of how Tupac was able to "show up" at a concert. Maybe have Walt as the narrator along the way with his clothing changing as the scenes change.

Talking with some cast members, Spaceship Earth will get an update, but no one knows when, but most likely when they finish the old Communicore area, now if they can re do Imagination. As for narration, Jeremy Irons was, is still the best, but if they stick with the British narrators, I can see Liam Neeson (I know he's Irish) or David Attenborough, or bring Jeremy Irons back. Only American I can think of that can narrate is Morgan Freeman.

Because I want to see and reveal the opening dates of Spaceship Earth updates, Dreamers Point, New Festival Area, Mary Poppins attraction, DuckTales World Showcase Adventure, Wonders of Xandar Pavilion, PLAY! Pavilion and Moana's Journey of Water at EPCOT, and thanks to EPCOT's concept art!!! And no more delayed or postponed, because the COVID-19 pandemic are nearly gone by next year!!! Got it?👌

It’s like chapters in a book but with music 🎼 that’s amazing 🥲 spaceship earth is all about storytelling and walt is one of the storytellers. And the osmond brothers are also storytellers too. I personally think they are ruining Epcot. The whole point of Spaceship earth is tell the story of the history of communication. They are slowly ruining the whole point of what Walt wanted Epcot to be ;_;

I hope that if and when this renovation happens that they IMPROVE the second half of the ride. The current take on it is so lame as you're staring at a loading screen for the most of it. I want awesome animations with of people making and watching new and old stories, I want a narration by someone who doesn't sound bored. I want the grand epic feeling from the original back regardless of what the story of the ride is. As for the narrator, I don't really care who it is but I would like someone who captures the tone of the original ride. The current take on all versions aren't that impressive I'm sorry to say. If this is a story about Story then we need a Narrator who sells us on this story. The Original Spaceship Earth was one of my favorite rides and right now it's very average and I would like it to be great again. I love what I saw for the newer version so I'm on board for it but there's looking good and being good. Time will tell.

Can they please just return the Jeremy Irons version? It truly was the best and most epic version of Spaceship Earth. Sorry but Judi Dench’s version sucks!

DISNEY => 👎🏼!!! All about 💰… taking a decade to finish Guardians and/or Tron, still will raise price or make you pay for Rise because they screwed up on it! Smh!!!
