"I'm ready to tap out of pop culture references" As a teenager, the insane amount of pop culture references is actually exactly why I love this movie so much. It's a realistic depiction of teenagers where they're not just all lumped into "rude kids whose only goal in life is to stay out past their very reasonable curfew" (which is depicted far more often than you might think) and instead shows our fondness for pop culture in the form of humour and playfully insulting each other.

I'm not a diehard Turtles fan but this was a fun movie. The fact that the animators weren't overworked is very appreciative. If most companies had that approach instead of reaching deadlines, we'd have more high quality media.

Putting a Power Rangers reference at the end is actually quite poetic. The big playground debate for many young millennials was, "Are you a Power Rangers kid or a Ninja Turtles kid?" Then Pokemon came along and threw a nice, warm blanket over all of our heads.

Dude the Splinter vs TCRI fight was so hype it was like the tavern scene in Shanghai Noon where Jackie Chan is fighting Owen Wilson and using a bunch of random crap to stumble his way into kicking butt. I was in stitches. Instead of Jackie Chan just being a voice, they made Splinter like him!

Probably the most impressive feat of Bebop and Rocksteady was in their debut when put Splinter in a one handed neck hold. From then on, those two got sqimshed by the turtles almost every episodes. To be fair tho, the Turtles also jobbed a lot in their own series. I fancy that is the reason they needed New York City to bail them out in the end of this movie: an homage to the series.

I had a whole theater to myself to watch this movie, the theater barely had any people. I was very uncomfortable being alone. It was cool, but having someone with you is better. But I loved the movie.
