52:55 It's generally assumed among the fandom that the reason Voldemorts plans suck is because he's fucking insane, y'know from splitting his actual SOUL apart so many times, the reason none of the other death eaters tell him his plans suck is because he's liable to fucking kill them for it.
"Dumbledor's got style" is literally a line in the book. They just had Kingsley say it because in the movie, the person who really said it doesnt exist
“Hermione isn’t old enough to hot yet” is akin to the one photographer that laid down on the pavement to get an up skirt shot of Emma Watson literally the day she turned 18. Literally less than 24 hours before and dude would be jailed
(Sorcerer's Stone, Chess scene) Why does CinemaSins not think falling like 6 feet onto a marble floor and bouncing your head off the ground like a basketball isn't going to mess you up lmao
Literally what I thought. I get frustrated when CinemaSins keeps sinning stuff for no reason specially when it's about a series or movie that I like, and seeing someone take his own time to actually show that CinemaSins is wrong gives a smile to my face
One of the only real sins I can think of with the last film is that we never get to see Professor Trelawney yeeting crystal balls at death eaters during the last battle, or Professor sprout, again yeeting, dangerous plants over the walls.
It's funny to me that people would be, like, 'It's a satirical video, it's literally his job to nitpick!' and then be offended at the person who actually knows the material doing the same thing back to him. All the arguments they use to defend him can also be used to defend you because you're doing the same thing _he_ does _to_ him XD
The “not old enough to be hot yet” jokes about Hermione are even more disturbing when you remember her actor, Emma Watson, was ambushed by paparazzi the day she turned 18 and they tried relentlessly tried to take up skirt photos of her
My father was a University Professor for over 30 years and while watching this movie confessed he also liked asking questions the students don’t know the answer to. 😅
I could see it as a good way to spark interest and remind the student you are the teacher but it doesn't do anything helpful when it's on a student who was just taking notes from the teacher basically doing their syllabus read.
Depending on how you approach it, this can definitely be an effective tool to get students thinking about the question being asked. When someone is asked a question which they don't know the answer to, the general instinct is to wonder what the actual answer is. The drive for learning becomes the student's curiosity, a form of intrinsic motivation, which is more effective than than just learning something because it's required of them. That being said, there are good and bad ways of doing this, and they all hinge on how you treat the student's lack of knowledge. Snape uses it as an excuse to belittle Harry, whereas I would assume that your father used it as a teaching moment and a chance to draw his students' interest.
@@LionWithAGun The only thing here is that Snape couldn't read what Harry had written, that Harry was the only one taking notes here, that what he was writting wasn't exactly necessary, being a presentation speech an not a lesson (so not something Snape would expect him or any other students to took notes of), and that poor Harry didn't contradict Snape when the later accused him of not paying attention (unless I forgot that part?), re-enforcing the teacher's belief that Harry was indeed just doodling. Harry didn't do anything wrong and Snape was too harsh, yes, but it's not too unreasonable for him, given in part his litteral point of view, to have concluded that Harry was not paying attention. Fans sometimes forget that characters don't share all the knowledge the readers do and I believe Snape is a particulary egregious example of that at times.
24:10, Trivia: The actor playing Malfoy Sr. was supposed to say a different magic word, but forgot and said the one that sounded like Abracadabra since that was the one he remembered. So, it was an actor forgetting their line that made the character even worse than the book version, but the director liked the mistake and kept it in.
Little more insight on this, the actor knew he was supposed to say a "Curse" but forgot what exactly he needed to say. He also at the time had read Goblet of Fire, so Avada Kedavra was fresh in his mind and he just improvised Lucius prepping the Killing Curse.
@@ermacmacro7136 And to add to that; this is the same scene in which Jason Isaacs AKA Lucius also improvised the abuse on Dobby as a whole, the director thought he tripped or something of the sort to which he replied "That was me kicking Dobby down the stairs and hitting him with my cane." Which the director decided to keep in, Jason truly brought Lucius Malfoy to life and even to this day still has a father/son relationship with Tom Felton.
At Aragog's funeral, Harry does bring up being scared of the spiders and the giant family in his seemingly high, liquid luck state. Hagrid wasn't there in the forest with them in Chamber of Secrets. Even in the movie, Aragog specifically said that his whole family didn't harm Hagrid by his command, but he was happy to have his family eat some young boys that weren't actually with Hagrid at the time. Hagrid only ever saw the good in Aragog. That's not a sin of any kind; that's different characters having different perspectives. Slughorn then also has his own perspective in only wanting the venom from the dead body with no emotional attachment. Nothing about that scene has any inconsistencies.
It really feels like Jeremy (or whoever he has writes the sins for him) writes them down as the movie is still going and either doesn’t hear the film's explanation, or does hear it but can't be bothered to go back and strike off the sin.
Wow, somehow it hadn't ever occurred to me how creepy that "Hermione isn't old enough to be hot yet" bit is... I'm actually kind of skeezed out that they used it a number of times.
He may be saying it as a joke, but still, what the actual fuck!??!! Hopefully, his subscriber base took a serious hit. For most of us, that shit ain't funny. A former friend, who videoed a mutual friend's daigjter, underage, coming out of the shower, when she was.there watching his kids. Had that frownd asked, there would have been a LINE of volunteers, willing to help.hide the carcass.
Felix is SUPER rare and Slughorn was one of a very small number of wizards who could safely make it. He probably thought giving it to a student was appropriate because they can't do something unfairly life changing as children remotely sequestered at a school. Of course, Harry using it determines the outcome of the war a year later.
Also, a) the exams are all secured against means of cheating namely Felix Felicis, b) it is a dose for one day so what effects it would have it would be minor and c) due to the mentioned rarity it would be easily traceable, so yeah, Slughorn was kind of right for anything but the fringe cases.
Also it takes like 6 months to brew properly, has addictive side effects if overused, and does not guarantee success. It only increases the chance of success if there's one at all. So a regular person trying to defeat Voldemort with it wouldn't succeed. It's not the end all be all.
i'm geniunely confused why Jeremy thought the Irish quidditch team's mascot being a leprechaun was racist when this world is obviously magical and Ireland is using a creature native to their home as their mascot
I love that you pointed out the things that all bothered me about his "sins" video especially the one about Dumbledore that broke my heart when the original actor died and they had to get a new one but they did choose an excellent replacement
Sinning Molly Weasley for being a more competent fighter than Bellatrix was wild to me. She's literally in the Order and fought in the last war, plus she's being using magic everyday since then. She knows what she's doing
I don’t know if she was in the Order in the last war, but it’s clear either way that she is indeed a skilled duelist. Also, her daughter had just dodged death by an inch, so I feel there might’ve been more psychological factors at play here. The desire to protect Ginny clearly enraged her, boosting her magical prowess to the point of rivalling Bellatrix’s.
She has an order of merlin (little medal thing saying ''hey u watched ur friends and family die in the first war but r alive, u also had 7 kids, HURRAY!!!) so she is skilled as fuck
@@TheDMan2003 Don't forget that there is nothing more terrifying than an angry mother, especially when their child is in danger. Most mothers I know would commit murder if it kept their child safe.
1:09:00 Also, Arthur explicitly states they’re using the visitor’s entrance, Harry is not a Ministry employee and Arthur is accompanying him in support, we later see in DH the employee entrance and how it leads to those chimneys. From the books we know some higher-ups have an exclusive connection to those but regular employees still have to commute. I’m sure it would be a huge risk to have those connected to regular Floo network.
2:21:53 it’s been a while since i last read deathly hallows, but i distinctly recall that on top of being cursed to multiply, the objects in bellatrix’s vault were also burning hot
I feel like anyone learning magic from any kind of history should learn what Merlin said in The sword in the stone: "Don't expect magic to solve all your problems"
The reason Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw cheered when Slytherin didn't win the house cup at the end of Philosoper's Stone is also because it's explained that Slytherin had won the house cup for several years in a row, prior to the events of the book.
Jermy literally repeating the Hermoine line of her being underage is so flipping creepy and why I stopped watching Cinema Sins. Like I realized a lot of his points and certain things he said were dumb or gross (or both)
I don't understand how some people can watch the original version of the videos without gagging or at the bare minimum feeling uncomfortable whenever Jeremy comments on Hermione
I think it's mostly because the people watching are from the age group, who had a crush on Hermione growing up. They are also the targeted audience for most of his videos and I think is the reason for the joke in the first place.
I thought it was funny the first time. Inappropiate, but funny. But him doing it over and over and all of the other comments is just awful and makes me want to throw up
love how Jeremy wonders how the golden trio haven't met Luna yet as if its not a massive school with thousands of students and shes also in a different house edit: not to mention she's a year younger than them
I am always a bit confused when the disclaimer in the beginning about loving CinemaSins pops up since: 1. Birdman seems quite (immensely) fed up almost every video (I understand him). And 2. Some of their bits, such as the ”Hermione isn't old enough to be hot yet” jOkE, are downright heinous.
I'm surprised you didn't also point out that in the books it implies the prophecy in OOTP could've been about Neville or Harry as they share birthday's ,that's why Neville finds the prophecy before anyone else.
Also, in addition to the sin about “overweight Dudley keeping up with athletic Harry” The books stated that Dudley had cut a lot of weight boxing. Even if Dudley is still a heavyweight, he’s nowhere near as flabby and out of shape as he had been. Kid is jacked. Which also gives the credence to the NFL lineman example. But also look at Brock Lesnar, Alaistar Overeem, George Foreman, and other heavyweight athletes.
And a fun thing about the magic roosters that could kill the evil snake monster, which might be why CinemaSins disregarded the book, the books clearly state Ginny killed them all while possessed. When Hagrid came running in to clear Harry, he was holding one.
Here's my personal pet peeve with CinemaSins. They do provide funny content from time to time, but a lot of the sins amounts to indirectly calling the directors/screenwriter of the movies "lazy and unoriginal because I think plot bad". People can hate or love the Harry Potter franchise but to call something a "sin" on a movie section that was explained in the books doesn't feel like a "sin". They're also purposely leaving out a lot of context. To me, a sin in the franchise is the myriad of cut that was made to condense the HP franchise into seven film arcs as many important characters got scrapped in favor of amping the main characters importance in the screen. The infamous "Ron did that" is one of them. Or how Neville, Luna and other sub characters were major characters in the book. Draco's redemption in the book, so on. However I also understand movies have a strict time budget so while it was sad all of this was cut I also respect the director's decision. It is in no way "they lazy to fix plot". Only people that makes such comments have never been in the Film industry whatsoever. I can't watch CinemaSins for this reason. It feels like a shallow call out for quick "lol so true" laughtrack moment, without realizing it's not that true after all. And it happens so often I can't help but to eyeroll them. Context can go a long way in humor as well. Nice video.
Having watched only a little of Cinema Sins, I think a major problem they have is their idea that "logic" is the end goal of every movie. A movie is sinned if it supposedly isn't logical enough. According to that view, watching someone effortlessly solve math problems should be the height of cinema. Which isn't true at all. Most films- hell most fiction- is about conflict and tension, something that doesn't need very much logic. I feel there's this annoying subculture, not just in films but also in books and video games that proclaims "logic" and "realism" to be the greatest things ever in order to pump up their egos. Like the people complaining that The Last Jedi was illogical. As though the Star Wars movies don't run on rule of cool, with the Force and hyperspace and freaking plasma sword users dominating the battlefield when plasma guns are a dime a dozen. Then the "logic" nuts move the goal posts and claim they want internal consistency. They can't even stick to their own standards and are constantly conflating realism, logic, consistency and quality. People don't act 100% logically all the time, especially in stressful situations, which movies are full of. You can also be consistently unrealistic, like having archers be thin and willowy in medievalesque settings.
as a HUGE harry potter fan (i swear, i know every single thing about the story) this video is so damn satisfying. it makes me so angry when someone just completely ignores huge parts of the plot 😭
20:01 Also, mentioned in the books but not in the movie, Hagrid tells Harry that something has been killing all the roosters of Hogwarts at night. That something turns out to be possessed Ginny. So Harry knows there are no rooster available to him at the moment.
Hagrid for real likes that stuff, you know damn well he takes prides in finding the best tree in the forbidden forest, chopping it down in probably one swing…as he should
I knew he said some questionable stuff about Hermione but didn't know it was 3 times in his first 3 videos on the series. And all 3 of them are so clearly his own feelings as there's nothing in the way the film is shot to give a viewer these thoughts. It's seriously creepy Edit: 5 times in 4 videos
Remus was on the train because it was the day after the full moon and he missed… whatever transport the professors take or he waited until after the full moon and was too weak to get himself there. Poor guy slept through most of the trip
I hated how he refered to Cedric's dad grieving over his son's dead body as a "money shot". The most heartbreaking scene in the series in my opinion, and this prick mocks it. God forbid he ever loses a child.
There are kind Slytherins (Slughorn) there are brave Hufflepuffs (Cedric) there are stupid Ravenclaws (Lockhart) and there are twisted Gryffindors (Peter). Your house does not define you. Do not take the majority as an absolute for the whole. P.S love your vids lol
Old comment but since to my knowledge the houses are based on your character and personality I feel like that would be a perfectly reasonable time to do that
It never occured to me that Fawks was the one Apparating with Dumbledore. I just thought Dumbledore was flexing and Apparating in a cool way. But Fawks doing the actual apparation makes more sense
Imagine your sons friend comes over and you rudely start in on how they’re famous. Maybe Arthur Weasley is just a really nice guy, kind of like exactly what his character is. He was being polite to the young man who just had to be broken out of his own home where they put bars on the window and wouldn’t let him send letters to Ron.
1:59:33 I’m a fair bit late for this, but you can see that with the spell getting cast on the wall, the gate to that fireplace closes, meaning they can’t use it anymore. He wasn’t trying to kill them with it, he was trying to cut off their escape route
The3Birdman's reaction rant about English pronunciations and their love hate relationship with the letter "H" always gets me every time i hear it and I love it.
There was another reason the other schools didn't take portkeys to Hogwarts - two actually. The first is that they used their means of conveyance as their temporary dorms for their stay at the school. The other being that you can't apparate in or out of Hogwarts using most conventional magical means without powerful magic nullifications, usually with the ministry of magic getting involved, to lower the schools defenses. Something that you can't just do for one form of magic generally, which would leave the school open to all varieties of magical infiltration during that window of vulnerability.
"Everyone hates slythin." Its almost like its a metaphor that unchecked ambition leads to evil. While also reminding the readers that ambition itself isn't the problem but how you pursue it. The books and movie made a point to tell the readers not every slytherin is bad but also point out a lot of them turn that way because of there ambition.
It just makes me shudder when he uses Hermione isn't old enough to be hot as a sin. It's like he thinks unless a woman is hot she has no business showing her face in public.
I think it was a joke... however it was a joke he probably shouldn't have made, especially multiple times. I really hope it was just a very tone deaf joke in poor taste and not how he actually feels. I'm hoping.
for some reason, it never occurred to me that he was actually sinning her prepubescence. I just thought it was weird and inappropriate commentary and didn’t realize the counter actually went up! That is insane that he thought that was ok.
I have to say, as a Brit, Jeremy expects Londoners to care about anything magic. People in London are almost always tired and busy, they are very unlikely to notice most things and if they did, they won't care
I think what makes me like the Harry Potter videos more than some of your other videos is that it’s really interesting to hear someone talk about something they are really passionate about. Obviously you like the John Wick movies or some of the Marvel movies or whatever, but it’s very clear that you have a true passion, and that Harry Potter hold a special place in your heart. Keep up the great work. Love the videos Birdman🔥🔥
cinema sins saying that the house elf clothes rule is 'stupid' infuriates me to no end because it's actually based on real scottish folklore (brownies or broonies, for those curious), where they would leave a person forever if they were baptised or, of course, given clothing (although what infuriates me more is how jk rowling adapted this. they're not slaves that like being slaves, in fact they're easy to offend, get offerings given to them, and have a mischievous side to them as well)
OMG ... I LOVE the EWW channel so much, but, I sat through their whole HP series and was just so angry. Anyone who had read the books could answer almost every complaint he brought up. I'm SO glad you made this, because they idea has been floating around in my head and it seemed too daunting for me to tackle right now
@@alexsis3067 Ah yes, the books which are in total 4,100 pages long. The books don't matter, a movie should be able to stand on it's own without collapsing in on itself.
I never actually watched Jeremy sin the Harry Potter movies. Glad I watched this though, not only did it point out how inconsistent he is with his sins or just blatantly ignores things. I'm guessing a huge part of this is just the way he writes the script for his videos, he probably just stream of consciousness writes down sins as he watches the movie, so I can forgive not remembering things, but whenever he just shows a lack of understanding for things like obliviate, imperio, or anything else that's pretty goddamn simple it really grinds my gears. Also every time he brings up hermoine not being old enough yet deserves like 100 sins. Jesus Christ. Like I get thinking that Hermoine is hot, but I was literally the same age as or younger then her when I watched these movies. This series showed that literally every time she was on screen, all he was thinking is how hot she was. So ungodly creepy. Imagine someone was saying shit irl like this about a girl. Gives me shivers.
Jeremy uses SOME deleted scenes. He sins deleted sins in chamber of secrets that he can sin, but leaves out the deleted scene where Hagrid mentions that all the roosters have been killed so that they can sin that they go into the chamber rooster-less.
My only question is: If Sirius wanted to meet up with Harry at the bus stop, why did he scare him by growling and snarling instead of doing the happy dog thing? Was there some danger I forgot about that Sirius was trying to scare off? Peter wasn’t near him, and it didn’t seem like anyone was stalking him…
A dark shaggy dog in the dark of night would look like that to any child, let alone a dog that's actually a wizard who spent the last 12 years in a -torture dungeon- prison for a crime he didn't commit.
@@spencer6709 I think it's merely because Padfoot/Sirius had a one track mind of "GET THE RAT" since he had spent the last 12 years thinking about nothing but getting revenge on said rat after all, maybe just in all the chaos of the chase Paddy wasn't necessarily thinking of being careful of how hard he was grabbing Ron (plus he tells Ron that it was just him trying to get Pettigrew in the first place; not to attack/hurt him which was what ended up happening because Ron didn't know what was happening), since he was Hellbent on one thing only. (Plus unlike Moony without Wolfsbane he still has full control of his mind in his animagus form; hence his disposition as Padfoot being better.) But after everything settled down and he thought about what happened, he felt bad. Harry's his godson and that is his godson's best friend and he's a good man, he wants to make a good impression of himself for Harry and his friends of course. Just my two sense on that thought.
2:16:00 Not only that, but we know most of the dark witches and wizards came from Slytherin house. Do we really expect those kids to fight to the death against many of whom would be their own parents and relatives? Or do we expect them to watch their parents and relatives get cut down across the battle?
Jeremy asking why Felix Felicis is not massed produced and used is like asking why sports don't make steroids legal or schools don't allow cheating in exams.
I think the only "Sins" I would give The Sorcerer's Stone are: - During the Chess scene, why would Ron get onto the knight piece? In the books it was explained that Harry, Ron and Hermione _were_ the chess pieces. But there's just a knight horse without the physical knight on it, could they not have commanded it to move, or been anywhere else on the chess piece to make it still move? - During the ending scene in the great hall, did the other students know about the chess scene? I could buy that they knew about Harry and Co. getting the stone, but a specific detail like the giant wizard chess board? How long was Harry out for that Ron could make this information commonly known? I could buy that he would brag about it to some of his friends, but the entire school knowing to a point where they could have context when Dumbledore awards points for "The greatest game of wizard chess ever played"? Imagine being a Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw and dumbledore just shits all over your house because, as far as you know, Ron played chess one time. Shit man, us Ravenclaws are the only motherfuckers in the chess club! We got robbed!
The characters HAD to act as chess pieces. In the film, when Ron was knocked off, Harry told Hermione not to move because they were still playing. What happened in the books is still present here. Th first two movies are damn near accurate the books, with many lines being word for word. Also, Dumbledore said that what happened was meant to be a secret, but it didn't stay one and the students found out. Hermione and Ron sent a letter to Dumbledore explaining everything that happened, which is how he, and by extension the school knew. I hoped that helped answer some questions.
@@Cinemabu11 Well yeah, I know they had to be the chess pieces, but why would Ron get onto the actual knight piece, or at the very least, onto the back of the horse? Couldn't he have stayed under the horse, where he couldn't have been stabbed? Or grabbed onto the tail and stood on the baseplate? I would buy that he's just a dumb kid and thought getting onto it would look cooler, Ron's definitely not a Ravenclaw, that's for sure As for the secrecy thing, I would buy that Dumbledore dropped hints about it. He seems like the kind of guy who would deliberately ensure that people know about it through constant hinting, though I still don't know if the other kids would've known so much details. I could buy that they were, like in the books, so excited at the downfall of Slytherin that even being granted points for a well-played game of chess would be cause enough for celebration, because at least Slytherin isn't winning.
I think the "Sins" here are your absolutely stupid questions. "Why didn't they this or that" are the questions that CinemaSins asks and Th3Birdman shits all over CS for. Do you not pay attention to ANYTHING? Are you secretly CinemaSins??
Can't wait to watch this video even though I've seen them all separately but oh well this combines them into one video, thanks as always for the video Th3Birdman.
You don't know how happy I am that I randomly stumbled on this video. I wanted to make a response to Cinema Sins being completely idiotic but I'm a nobody and it would get no spotlight. This was beautifully done. Thank you sir!
Just watched your collection of the Harry Potter movies and the part where you come out like masterpiece theater and read the quote still cracks me up. Love ya bro your videos are amazing
The part he should have sinned in The Chamber of Secrets and didn't, at least I don't remember if he did, was the fact that Neville fainted because of the mandrakes, when herbology was always his best class. And one more thing, about the roosters being able to kill the basilisk, Tom used Ginny to kill all the roosters. Pretty sure that's in the movie as well as the book. Could be wrong about the movie though
iirc the rooster thing was a deleted scene in the movie; I remember when looking through them a scene of Hagrid showing the roosters dead (which is presumably done by Tom through Ginny)
I just have to say, the only adaptation franchise where a "The Books Don't Matter" banner would be warrented is How To Train Your Dragon, because aside from the names of characters and locations, EVERYTHING was changed in the adaptation. Dogsbreath was removed, Astrid was added, even Toothless's species was changed (in the books Toothless was a juvenile Red Death, in the movies he's a Night Fury)
So, what can we learn from all this? Jeremy of CinemaSins absolutely refuses to understand magic in the world Harry Potter, wants scenes that contribute nothing to the overall plot in already 2-hour long films, and needs to be put on some kind of watchlist (or at least should stay as far away as possible from Emma Watson) Oh yeah, and The Books F**king Matter
The irony of Jeremy saying the books don't matter is that we literally hear him asking about whether or not the Philosopher's Stone book clears a few things up that aren't exactly made clear in the movie. Just like that, boom. They matter if you're going to consult them for ANY reason whatsoever
and also, he wants to have something with young hermione even tho it was problably ''a joke'' him repeating that so many times just went from weird to creepy worryingly fast
@@lucinavonnolaran8728 He's a movie critic, not a book reviewer. If the movie doesn't make something clear why does he have to read the book? Since Harry Potter was probably recommended to him to check it out, he probably doesn't have much interest in it anyways.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Rowling mentions at some point that before the events of the first book, Slytherin had won the house cup every year for a disturbingly long time. So yeah, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw were probably over fucking joyed that those damn snakes got knocked off their pedestal. (its been like a decade since I read the books, so I could have just made that up, because fuck Slytherin.)
1:37:38 - I agree with this. My Dad is always trying out new recipes when he cooks, and then after a few tries, he never follows the same recipe twice as he seeks ways on improving said recipes
i believe intent is an important factor towards the severity of a spells effects, remember when Voldemort told Harry he needed to "mean it" when he cast the Cruciatus curse on Bellatrix in the ministry of magic? His heart wasn't in it and so the spell didn't work as it should have.
Fun Fact: Lucius saying Avada Kedavra was an accident on Jason Isaacs part, he was told to say any spell, but he didn't know any spell aside from Avada Kedavra, but he didn't know it was the killing curse.
In the books there are literal talks about the educational systems particuarly in Order of the Pheonix because they have standardized tests like the O.W.L. (Ordinary Wizarding Level exams) and NEWT (Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Test) to place students based on level and a way for those who get the higher scores the ability to be approved for Hogwarts "AP"/advanced classes and the NEWT for placing people for certain positions they will have after school. There is so much depth to this world. Also you can see in the books too the professors will literally talk about what they will be learning throughout the years in depth soemtimes. Edit also later note in the Prizoner of Azkaban Hermione notes that when Snape started on Werewolves that they were suposed to be in a different section and wouldn't "start nocturnal animals for weeks".
I stopped watching CinemaSins a long time ago. Channel used to be pretty neat but they fell off hard, instead of actually pointing out mistakes or clichés they yap about irrelevant nonsense and make “jokes” that go on for way too long.
