I expected a "Removes all sins" gag for that one scene before Bowser's giant fight where Luigi is confident instead of scared, it's sad it didn't happen
5:27 In the original Japanese version, Starlow says a bad pun. In Japan, wind blowing is used instead of crickets chirping after a bad joke. So that was lost in translation.
@jamiegioca9448 Except that's NOT what she can do. The wind blowing is the Japanese version of the old "Cricket Chirping" sound effect that happens when someone tells a bad joke. It's not a power, it's a joke.
Which is why there is a blowing wind emotion in Animal Crossing that is used by characters when a joke they tell doesn’t land, or when they are confused.
One of the things I love about Dream Team is that it brought back alot of species and characters. For species we get to see way more of the Brocks and the Beanish, Toads and Yoshis return. We even get some new species to add to the M and L universe like Pillos, Shelltops and the Hooskis . As for characters, Kylie, Popple, Starlow, Broque Monseuir, Broque Madam and the Elite Trio make a nice return. All of this just makes the M and L games feel so much more connected and makes its universe feel more interesting and huge.
Paper Jam isn't bad JUST because we didn't get ANY original Paper Mario characters, but it ALSO gave us NO original Mario & Luigi characters. Which doesn't make any goddamn sense, because the game takes place IN Mario & Luigi's world.
It *would* make the games feel connected, if they actually acknowledged the events at all. The only character that clearly remembers you from previous games is Starlow, and all she says is “haven’t seen you since our last adventure”. Every other character says either you look familiar or just don’t acknowledge you’ve met each other before. It feels to me like they‘re barely contributing to making the series feel connected, when they just feel like shells of these previously-established characters thrown in for little to no reason.
Same. This is my favourite game of all time. It's nice to see it get some recognition again. I miss AlphaDream, and I'm sure many other people miss them as well.
giant bowser and zeekeeper exist bam nuff said Edit: GIANT BOWSER ISNT THAT HARD GUYS I REALLY DONT GET IT. But the bug on the Beyblade section I will admit to
I actually bought this game used. When I created my save slot, I thought, "Hey cool! They even added a normal mode for the noobs! Of course I'm going to take hard mode!". Well yeah... Ever since I will question the choice of anything which says "hard". I was stunned when I lost my first boss fight. I tweaked as much as I could and everytime when meeting a new enemy there would be the fear of a game over in the first battle. The boss fights felt overly repetitive because the difficulty just meant long fights, dodging dozens of attacks. The very first fight already takes you at least 5 rounds. It became so convenient to use those invincibility chests late in the game. It became so easy that it was like cheating. I only noticed after finishing the game in hard mode, that you're ought to actually UNLOCK hard mode. I never was as much desparate anywhere in the entire series as I was when I came to the giant Bowser battle. 5 minutes unskippable prolog. probably 15 minutes fight until INSTANT game over. This felt like a terrible joke. Nintendo is known to be trolling players hard sometimes (like in Super Paper Mario), but this felt like too much over-exaggerated. I thought, it's impossible to beat, I wouldn't be able to finish the game! I even forced myself against my will to continue trying to beat the fight at a 3rd day when I finally got it. At an earlier time I rage quit playing and I had to calm myself down with chocolate. The irony is: while the game explains every obvious detail, sometimes even twice! There was no explanation at all how to manage the final attack of "Giant Giant Bowser". After I was done with the boss medleys, the minigame S ranks and the extra challenges I said myself, never touch this game again.
32:20 Chariii5 rants about the Final Boss and how hard and unfair it is. Fawful Minion: ... I thought it was easy. Chariii5 (irritated): You know what? lol That was a funny exchange!
He should be irritated because he sucks at the fight. This fight really isn't that hard if you're leveled up enough and you learn the patterns to his attacks. One thing I should mention about the final bosses is that with some of them, there are clues to help you deduce what attacks are going to happen. With Cackletta's Soul, you're able to tell where she's going to fire her lasers and when she's going to lower her arms during her spin attack by the position of her pupils. With Dreamy Bowser's hammer attack, if the coin takes a bit to stop bouncing, he's only going to attack once, but if the coin stops bouncing almost immediately, he's going to perform two. And with Shiny RoboBowser's Trio Attack, you can tell which bro he's going to attack and whether or not he's going to delay his fire by looking at his eyes. If he just took a minute to study the bosses and, to be a little mean, actually use his brain for once, he'd probably find them a lot more fun than he does now.
It’s been 8 years already since this game’s release?! How?! I remember when I first got it, and I had a blast! Augh, that Bowser fight in Dream’s Deep used to be the worst. Good times…
i can feel my wrinkles forming, and my hair turning gray jesus christ, _8 years_ my big section of trouble was the ball jumping minigame in Somnom Woods, to get what i think was the last Pi'illo in the area
@@ShadowtheRU-vidr523 Bro when you compare Never Let Up with Come On, Again! and Crisis of Red and Green, there's literally no contest- They're great, don't get me wrong, and I've grown to appreciate PiT's a lot more actually playing the game myself, but DT boss music is SO GOOD. And Big Bang is the 2nd best, the middle of the song when it gets serious is the best part! And, Tough Guy Alert (Also called "They're Pretty Tough, Should We Be Careful?") being a CLOSE 3rd, again, growing to appreciate it a lot more when I finally got to play BiS for myself lol (DT and PJ were my first M&L games, respectively - and no, that's not the reason I think they're the best, because In The Final/The Grande Finale is my favorite Final boss theme for this series :p)
@@amytheprettyweirdfangirl3786 I disagree, Never Let Up sounds like it's kinda trying to be They're Pretty Tough, Should We Be Careful? but it just ends up sounding very weird and sloppy. PiT and BIS original have my favorite ones, PiT's is the very definition of serious while BIS' is playful, courageous, hearty and a tad bit serious. Yeah everyone thinks that In The Final is the best and I agree but I also see it on equal grounds with Shiny RoboBowser. Also I couldn't stand it as a kid cuz it sounded too desperate for me and when I got my first game which unfortunately was Paper Jam, I preferred its final boss theme even though I loved In The Final already.
I'm not here for the sins, I'm just here for the good voice acting. Like, damn they did these characters well, if there's was ever a timeline where we got a show based on the Mario and Luigi series, this should be what the characters sounds like.
I will say, my experience with the final boss was very different than yours-- I went into the fight with two of those time freeze badge effects saved up and using those and just spamming the strongest bros attacks i just kinda beat him without him even getting to attack.... was honestly rather anticlimactic tbh
@@Max-rz8br Wait I've gotten all the badges, yet I didn't see the Time Freeze combination no matter how many hours I've clogged into this game. How do you get that ?
For the ultimate strategy, get 4 Miracle/Gold badge combinations then during the fight use Miracle/Silver so that when you use up all 4 Miracle/Golds, you can get them all back easily with a single Miracle/Silver. And your BP is back too. lol
This game would've been so much greater if it didn't have so many tutorials and didn't waste your time as much. It just makes going back to that game such a sluggish experience. Oh well, I can forgive that. This game is still a lot of fun!
Too bad Alphadream isn't around to fix those issues. Paper Jam and the other remakes showed that Alphadream completely learnt their lesson by offering an optional tutorial book and a fast forwarding cutscene button . So if the team was still around, they could have easily erased all those problem with a remake.
@@adrianleonce455 They caused their own downfall by remaking another game that could be already played on the 3DS and put it behind a paywall before the release, the og Bowser’s inside story had a huge success, while the remake sell way less, they fixed the issue with tutorials since the remake of SuperStar saga and faster cutscenes.
@@QueSeraSeraaaa They should've remade Partners In Time because it's the one that would've actually actually benefitted from a remake. Whether it would've saved them from bankruptcy though, I can't be sure.
I want- no, NEED Charriii to do an "Everything wrong with" about projects of minus world members like Zardy's maze. And I think it'd be hillarious if he, the creator, did an E.W.W. on Project Soul Star.
This game was my most favorite game in the series even though complaining about how it was but also my most favorite villain throughout the series is Antasma.
I think there should be a sin for Bowser finally calling Luigi by his actual name. The first time I saw it (via the obligatory "Boss Rush (no damage) + ending" that were spamming on RU-vid the day before the release) I thought "Wow, Luigi must have done something really incredible to let Bowser respect him enough to call him by his name"... yeah...
@@MariuigiKhed Actually facing him, overcoming his fear to help his older brother, and having more confidence in doing that, That could be seeing where he was smiling before the fight.
The question still stands on why is this a save block? Why not put health blocks like most rpg Mario games? Would have the same purpose of warning the player and healing them
Ah, this was great to see after the pure rage of the last video! I've never really heard anyone talk about the quality of Dream Team before, but after learning that it is, in fact, good, I'm definitely intrigued. I might end up getting the entire Mario and Luigi series some day, at this rate! No other comments, besides the question of "If Peach can fight, how come she gets kidnapped by Bowser?"... that's a genuinely good question, but my interpretation is that people simply can't stand up to Bowser. Think about it, in most games you either need a large number of Fire Flower shots or a chopping-down of a bridge to defeat him. And since the fireballs don't make him flinch, Peach doesn't have a readily available way to slow him down, hence why he's able to kidnap him so easily. But then again, this is the game where Bowser's backed by the unlimited power of the Dream Stone that can erase people from existence, and yet Mario and Luigi won that fight by themselves (with potential help from the Zeekeeper). Is it just the way of dreams?
Princess Peach can in fact use magic on Bowser; in Bowser's inside story, she literally throws him out of the castle :D That being said- you're totally right, Bowser doesn't really flinch, and it's hard to cast magic with him running at you, which is why she uses it once he's defeated. So I guess it's kinda a "Yes I can use powerful magic; but not when a 1 ton giant fire breathing turtle is launching flaming balls at me"
2:32 I think the reason why they have a save icon on the bottom screen is that; 1. If you want to save, but there are no save blocks around. 2. Because some people don't use save blocks. ...I think.
@22:07. Ya wanna know when they did it? Oh IDK, how about when THE ENTIRE ISLAND WAS ASLEEP from the DREAMBEATS? Seems like the PERFECT TIME for kidnapping
Ok this game having save blocks despite the button makes more sense then SS or Paper Jam because I’m pretty sure this is the one game without heart blocks so it does show you where you should save
I noticed they used the blocks before boss fights or major events/minigames. SS auto saved making it ABSOLUTELY useless. So while odd, it IS a good reminder to have the blocks as a way of saying" hey, major stuff ahead! Probably should save"
25:09 I recently replayed Dream Team on Hard Mode and I already knew that the Fly Guys were gonna be at Pi'illo Blimport, but when I checked without playing the Mole Hunt game again, the Fly Guys weren't at the spot they were supposed to be. They only ever appeared after I cleared the Mole Hunt game again. So the game requires you to win the Mole Hunt game again in order to progress so really you don't have a choice here.
12:16 I remember spending ten minutes attempting to comprehend what he was saying, in fear of selecting the incorrect choice. I was around the age of five.
I think Bedsmith's situation is similar to Link's. In the legend of Zelda, people will name their child Link in hope that they would become a legendary hero like other people named Link did. Here, it is a little more literal.
33:02 Bowser, sweetie, you lost. Twice. Once before Asthma did and then again almost immediately after, it was the defeat that got you where you are now.
I’ve never played dream team but I’ve played the demo and it looked interesting and to be honest the game is fun when Mario and Luigi fight, the dreamy fights are not as fun to me but I enjoy them because of luiginary attacks
And this is the first video I ever saw that broke my loop of only watching longplays on RU-vid. Thank you, Charriii5. I never would’ve discovered Caddicarus or any of the amazing people on the platform without you. Seriously, you’re the first person I ever subscribed to!
This game is my all time favorite game, it’s been years since I’ve played and completed it. Thinking about all the memories I had of this game brought a tear to my eye! I’ll have to play through it again at some point in the future
14:20 One of the many good things about being friends with a nitpicker is when they ask things like this. As a man making his own dream world into a reality, hope I find someone to look at my stuff like it's a video of ___ Sins.
@@sussy-sonic The reason is because he has poor reasoning for sinning these fights, and the Big Massif and Dreamy Bowser fights are pretty well liked among the community while Giant Bowser is considered hit or miss among the community.
@@greninjamariokartpokemonfan Assuming you think he's talking about their quality, hes actually talking at least nearly exclusively about their difficulty and how unnecessarily powerful their attacks are. Granted his defense stat was somewhat low but I'd say his point us fair game as people would agree with his assessments from What I've seen.
17:15 To be fair Bowser doesn't need his hands to beat the sleeping brothers, he just needs to open his mouth and set them on fire. Also what's to stop them from turning the music on and off as they wish?
Nah, fam. Go ahead. Charriii needs to realize that there are ways to beat the Mario and Luigi final bosses before he wrongly rips into Shiny RoboBowser.
@@tonysonic456 True actually. I'll give him the rant regarding Cackletta and Elder Princess Shroob, because yes, they are unnecessarily tough even for final bosses. But bitch, if *I* can figure out Dreamy Bowser's attack patterns without literally years of practice, you might need the obnoxious "git gud" advice no one likes receiving after all, because Charriii, you really need to git gud.
@@ethnictendo I may have defended Cackletta's Soul and Elder Princess Shroob in CinemaSins style response videos. To summarize, Cackletta's Soul is rightfully considered hard, but it's not bad because of it. In fact, I actually beat her on my first try AND while under-leveled. Elder Princess Shroob is a bit of a special case that would turn this comment into a paragraph. If you want my thoughts, you're better off watching my video.
I managed to get the Duplex Crown on my second playthrough of the game and managed to get both bros to lv45 and, putting the crown on Luigi, I managed to beat the fight in one turn, same with the Antasma fight. Almost forgot, also used the defense down and attack up badge effects
Try the Battle Ring Boss Medley if you haven't already. I recommend giving the Duplex Crown to Mario, boosting POW stats as much as possible, and using the Miricle + Gold badge combination (stop time) when you get to Antasma X. Did it first try at Level 48.
6:07 But if Bowser did this EVERYTIME there was a bridge is all like this: touched the axe/switch, run in the air and then gravity is all like "Oh, right! Down you go"
20:40 Good question, how can a wizard able to shapeshift, transform blocks into living being and transform people in giants be able to hide three minion in his disguise's skirt?
I was surprised to see Kyle Koopa in the game. Kyle Koopa had her first tribute in Mario and luigi partners in time and she helped you through Partners in time. It's just sad that she didn't remembered us. It would be a nice surprise to know that she remembered us like: "Hey weren't you the two guys with the baby's who fought a bad alien race and saved the world from an alien invasion when i was still a reporter?" That would be a nice secret in the game. 🎮😟
15:52 I was like 10-11 when I first saw this scene, very curious at the time. I read the text until it got to the "Game Over" text, and my heart sunk. I reset the game (which wasn't a big deal because there was a save point next to the fountain). 7 years later, on this day, I watched the full scene in it's entirety and once it got to the Game Over text, and Dreambert wakes them up. Note that I have completed Dream Team 100% once and have gotten to that point at the fountain about 15 times. Never, EVER, in my entire time playing games, have I been played harder than a fiddle. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
On my first playthrough I skipped the fountain entirely, I didn’t get close enough for the interact prompt to show up so I just thought it was a decoration, I only figured it out when I came back later during the ultibed quest, and wondered how I could have missed it
This game is pretty tough in hard mode. I'm replaying it in hard mode right now at neo bowser castle, and there's a glitch in the Zeekeeper giant boss fight. This has been consistent when I've played through it, and my brother played through it, but for some reason specifically in hard mode, the motion controls break sometimes and stick you in one direction for the rest of the attack. The same happens with bowser, and it takes much more tries.
17:21 Dreambert has a point for one reason: Bowser’s fire breathing ability 22:06 I don’t remember how the Dreambeats from earlier worked, but depending on how far the music spread on the island maybe everyone fell asleep? If Antasma didn’t have to stay on the summit after activating them, maybe he kidnapped her while everyone else was asleep? That’s my theory anyway.
I'm surprised Dream Team came out looking like this considering, back in 2011, Nintendo imposed a rule limiting creative character designs in Mario spinoffs. It's like the corporate heads slept through Dream Team's development and didn't start oppressing AlphaDream until after its release.
I think they realized how much damaging it would be to Alpha Dream if they told them they had to completely rework the game to not include any original characters, so they let them release the game in it's intended form so it would still have it's 2013 release date.
I think this may have damaged Dream Team a bit. Don't get me wrong, the game on its own is great. But I felt like they had a lot LOT more planned. But we're kinda suppressed because of the whole 2011 fiasco. Which is a real shame... What we had was great but I felt we couldve had a whole lot more.
