Bowser's Minions reminds me of those "See the events from the side characters' perspective" plots in cartoon shows/movie franchises. Like, the ones that nobody really ask for, but they make them anyway and they end up being really hit-or-miss as a result because you're either going to love that your favorite side character gets more screen time or hate the way it's written because the character wasn't really made to get a starring role. Just something I noticed from the way they were edited together in this video.

its a neat idea, and the Inside Story remake does a little more with it, but yeah the gameplay is very lacking and they should've just made it a turn based rpg instead of a crappy minigame based on luck at least the writing is still consistent and they try and give the minions fun personalities.

Hear me out here; You could have it be the same style it is currently, _but_ with the difference that you can actually _control_ your army and command them to attack enemy forces instead of it being done automatically. You'd use the stylus to "draw a line" between who should attack and who they're attacking, which can lead to many different strategies and it'd make the Effectiveness Triangle more important to remember, since it could lead to better approaches for different enemies. Everything else would be the same. The Captain Actions, the Special Skills, the way you set up your team for the next mission. It'd all still need to play a part, because it would no longer be based on luck, but rather skill. That's what I feel was the missing piece of the puzzle. When it's all based on luck, the puzzle just falls apart. All of the other aspects are in place, and Minion Quest could be a great side game, the _only_ thing that would need to be changed (at least to start) would be what I just brought up. ...sorry, didn't mean to make this a ramble. I'm... very passionate about game design.

You capping for real,the game is not based on luck, you need to check your minion's stats, special abilities and what formation would give you a bonus that would guarantee the win,while in battle,you need to use your points effectively, know what minion to spare in the span of a few seconds and choose what power move to select for the cap and if it's worth using the amount of point it comes with it. It's not just luck because you weren't bothered to get invested in it.

That and while Superstar Saga (GBA) is an amazing example of how the GBA can hold a special place in many’s hearts at best, the only thing about it that rubs me the wrong way is Princess Peach. Not only because she pronounces “fungi” like someone from The Last Airbender (2010), but also because it would be awesome if she weren’t a damsel in distress (not to mention she got kidnapped several times in Teehee Valley which does have an amazing soundtrack and graphics, which makes the scene a lot more enjoyable besides the Mario Bros. being both witty and super-skilled and cutely designed enemies)

25:57 Mmm... think about it: we know from Yoshi's Island DS that Mario and Luigi (and Wario, Peach, DK, Bowser and Yoshi, but we found out about them later) are heroes of a profecy. I suppose the profecy only told about a "red and green brothers". Could be that people wanted to... bypass the profecy and made their children the stars. It makes sense. Ok, this is now canon!

20:15 I'm surprised he didn't point out how FAST that Gritty Goomba was to have Peach wrapped up in rope and put on a small like rug in the span of one second. Like did it knew Peach was going to be escorted in that desert at the time and had it prepared ahead of time or something? And there are other Gritty Goombas in the area that does the same thing. Do they ALL know to prepare a rope and a rug just in case of the very chance Princess Peach comes by to kidnap her in the first place? And I highly doubt they even work for Bowser as it's clear they're wild and they take Peach to their own little area to "worship" her for themselves. I always found that odd and weird. And they also have SPIKES on their heads! How do they NOT stab Peach with them as they are clearly carrying her on their heads?
