Why I Love Going To The Movie Theaters ;3 1. It gets me out of the house. 2. I love the very very big screen. 3. I don't need to eat or drink there. 4. I can get a refund if the movie is bad. 5. The seating is comfortable. 6. The lighting doesn't bother me. 7. Its fun for me to watch with a crowd. 8. Tradition. 9. Going with your friends. 10. Going for the adventure. Its more then just Movies... Its the experience for good or bad... Most of the time... I have a good time... So i will keep going to the Movie Theaters :3

I pretty much only go to the cinema at the film museum, where they have special screening and show some movies on actual 70mm film. This is an experience you don’t get at home

I saw Incredibles 2 in the cinema with a crying baby. It actually added a lot to my film-watching experience, because it sounded like Jack-Jack was crying the entire film! Not being sarcastic.

My best cinema experience ever was A Quiet Place. People was so quiet they stopped eating popcorn etc and a guy went outside to cough at one point

When I went to see Aquaman the speakers were literally crackling and I thought they would break, it was insane!

I found a theater in Korea that had reclining seats! I watched Guardians of the Galaxy, and wanted to move in there afterwards. Also, my wife always sneaks snacks and water in. Never checked.

I can still remember the time when my aunt took my two brothers and I to go watch snow white and the huntsman and while we were waiting the movie there was a family that was sitting right behind us and they were talking and chewing there popcorn out loud.

Asking if Americans have healthy snack options in the theaters. Just a few years ago, my theater started selling pizza, so there's your answer.

Fun fact: Movies in Belgium have pauzes. Lesser fun fact, if the movie is over two hours, you pay extra. You also get to choose your own seats, which is nice. You also get to pay extra to print out your own tickets at home, which is less nice.

Regardless of our opinions on any of this list, I think we can all agree the 3D needs to go.

The movie theaters around me are semi decent. Some even bring you your food while you are watching in reclining chairs. Plus surround sound and a giant screen are nice since I don't have the money to upgrade my setup. But all the other points ring true, especially the prices and people. People are absolutely dicks and everything is a normal price x10.

I've been to an indie theater where no one under the age of 16 is allowed without an adult and no one under the age of 6 is allowed period. I love how there's some theaters that actively try to accommodate the best theater experience possible.

Time to add one more reason. Having movies delayed or cancelled because of the coronavirus!

Subtitles are not a minor point, suspect! I watch with subs 100 percent of the time at home through streaming or Blu Ray. Wish theatres would give that option.

When I went to see Avengers Endgame some kid let go of a helium balloon and the string cast a shadow on the screen for the remainder of the film. That probably has a lot to do with why I didn't enjoy the film that much.

My skill that I can share is how to survive a screening with a bunch of 12 year olds in the cinema

In regards to the "Sitting Through the Credits" part: That's the _PERFECT_ time to go to the restroom. In regards to Marvel wait through the flashy credits for the 1st scene and then use the restroom while the boring & longer section plays. This only failed for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 because they had 5 or so short clips that had varied importance. In regards to theaters in general: it's a big screen so the video looks awesome. That and the obvious situation of "I'd have to wait a few months otherwise & somehow avoid spoilers" are basically the only reasons I still go to the theater. The novelty of being in a room full of Star Wars and Marvel fans is nice but it's not that big of a deal....especially when it's Star Wars and the whole room is filled with clapping at cool moments. If the movies were released on blu-ray & digital at the same time as theaters that would be great.....except for all the unemployed people because of the theater going out of business.

Before COVID-19 shutdowns, I went to the theater A LOT. I encountered all these things, and I had it down to a science. I had a membership pass so I didn’t pay individually for movies anymore. I showed up 15-30 minutes after the advertised start time so I missed the ads and trailers. I never bought any food or drinks at the theater - unless I used my membership points to get it for free - and oftentimes snuck in my own stuff in my pockets or purse. One time I snuck in an entire can of soda. Yes, not being able to pause is annoying, but again, if I got there right as the movie started, I only had to sit for ~2 hours, which is doable for me. And - knock on wood - I never had any egregious People Are Scum experiences. I know one of my friends got into a fight with someone last year bc the person wouldn’t stop talking during the movie and got pissed when my friend confronted them. So stupid. And, bc I work such weird hours and tend to stay up pretty late, I went at odd times and didn’t have to share the theater with too many people. Granted, that’s no guarantee that people will behave. In fact, having fewer people in their screening might give them the idea they can be stupider bc there’s fewer people to hold them accountable. But, I never really ran into this. I also never went to 3D screenings bc they cost extra and give me a headache. Also, any IMAX or premium showings aren’t worth the extra money unless it’s a big blockbuster, like Avengers or something. I honestly kinda miss going to the movie theaters bc I do find it a more immersive experience. I’m so used to picking up my phone and checking stuff when I’m watching movies at home. When I rewatched the OT Star Wars movies this weekend, I literally had to turn my phone off and put it on the other side of the room so I wouldn’t look at it out of habit and ruin the viewing experience for myself. I get that movie theaters aren’t for everyone, and going so often could get exhausting sometimes, so I totally agree on the advantages of home-viewing. Still, I do miss going to the theater. There were a lot of 2020 films I was looking forward to seeing on the big screen.

I’m not a movie lover but I imagine that why people continue to go to the cinemas is the same reason why people continue to flock sporting venues.

*I never had a problem with any of these, except the No Pause one and I always wait for a week or 2 to see a movie in theaters so there's barely anyone in the the theater, also food was never a big deal for me, because I always had lunch or dinner at the Restaurant across in the parking lot for me.* Also I ALWAYS be been super lucky when it comes to theaters too, also I hating waiting 3 or 4 months for the movie to come out on DVD or Blu-Ray that I REALLY want to see.

I agree with almost everything you say on this channel and you did make some good points, but I personally love going to the movies. There's just something special about it.

I like cinemas, but I hate numbered seats, especially for the reason you mentioned and also when you arrive late and you have to find it in the dark. But overall cinemas are okay in France. I personally prefer to sit on the back seats

The last movie that I saw in theater was Beauty & the Beast (2017) and before that RoboCop (2013). Four years apart!

While I'll concede that you make a good point, I still enjoy going to the theater. It's probably because I live in a small town, and usually the only annoying thing that happens is the occasional loud kid the parent won't shush. But I usually go to movies on weekdays, and a few days after the movie has already been out, so I don't have to worry about a ton of people. Yeah, the snacks are expensive, but that's because that's how theatres make their money, so I let it slide. I understand the theater is not for everyone, but my theater experience is usually pretty good.

I'm glad I live in the Netherlands were it's an ok visit, because the UK theaters sound horrible, here you have a small chance of people talking, sitting on your seat, playing with there phones and the theater is clean and we have intermission.

Honestly Man, I'm in the same boat as you. I genuine do not care about going to a Movie Theater anymore. In fact, Last Year, I only went to see ONE movie. And even then, I did not care for the entire experience. I would prefer to go to my Local Gaming Center or Arcade and Pay to play for the entire day there, than to go sit down for a few hours and watch a 'Movie'. Also, I appreciate that you put the ads at the beginning and/or end of the video. I hate having to listen to an ad in the middle of a video. Keep up the great work man.

Sound is my absolute biggest pet peeve... It's always too quiet in the theater. Either the owners don't care or they get a few complaints about it being too loud from plebs.. I hate it...

Spielberg/Cameron/Tarantino/Nolan: B-b-but watching the movie in a movie theatre is the best experience! Coming from directors who probably have a movie theatre built into their house....

I mean... honestly, I went last week, saw the opening night of the new Dragonball movie, and that was an experience I am glad I went in for. Because seeing it with a crowd where basically everyone present was a fan, that was a lot of fun. The laughs for the jokes were genuine, the hype at great moments was palpable, with some real "Ohhhh"s of tension or cheers of triumph for the characters onscreen, and afterward it sparked some great discussions as people who were basically complete strangers shared their opinions and savoured the excitement. I'd have missed all that if I'd waited for the home release. So... yeah, there are rare times where it's worth going out for. Plus a few of the points you make here outright contradict each other. "It's too expensive", followed by "Why not watch on your own 4K television or home cinema system?!" ... what? Pretty sure £10 for a movie ticket is a drop in the ocean compared to how rich you have to be to justify a 4K TV purchase and the related hardware. And then there's the complaints about "poor conditions" at the cinema, like cleanup, damage to seats, and bathroom upkeep. Why do you THINK cinema tickets cost that much? Somebody has to be paid for all this, to prevent the exact situations you're complaining about. I really don't get what your angle was on this one. "You can't even bring your own Food and Drink!" yeah, that's the reason ^ that part you were talking about. People would abuse that priviledge if they were allowed to bring WHATEVER kind of messy food and drink in with them. Popcorn and a drink is managable, you really want somebody bringing hard alcohol in if you gave them half the chance? Because they absolutely would. And it'd be awful.

I’ve had pretty good cinema experiences and it’s a fun experience; bike to the cinemas with my mates, get food, watch the film, fuck about in the shopping centre for a bit then bike back home. It’s a good experience. But if you’re there for just the film then I agree there’s hardly any positives. Great video and great video idea!

Fair points. Although I can't imagine "Gravity" or some other film of similar scope being nearly as engaging on some tiny-a** tv screen. But in the end I suppose home is a better choice.

I actually really like the cinema a lot but that's because there has never been any dick heads or problems with it. I also don't want to miss big films like avengers

Most of your points are valid for BIG CHAIN movie theaters (*cough* AMC *cough*). Yeah I go to small movie theater chains like Harkins or Alamo Drafthouse and some of the common theater problems are soften up a bit. Like for example, point #9, small movie theater chains do sever healthy food options and I know Alamo Drafthouse does . Then for point #10, there is hardly any ads before a movie starts, at least for smaller movie theater chains . I usually wait only 10 minutes as opposed to 30 minutes before the movie starts. However, most of your points are still valid and I do see movie theaters going away here in the next decade or two just because of how far tech has advanced over the years, as you said.

In my country they just cut out the credits so it goes from the film direct to the post credit scene I can bring my own food and drinks And it's really cheap
