Do they have assigned seating in movie theaters now? It's been years since I've gone to one, so I'm legitimately asking. I remember in the past me and whoever I was with just sat wherever.
I'm curious how they even found out he was in the wrong seat since there wasn't anyone wanting to sit there and there seems to be zero reason to harass him.
"Okay everyone, enjoy your movie" he was the hero all along, he was the pre-movie. He was the the entertainment before the entertainment, we were all blind to this mans heroic actions and we are all in his debt
@@TheCopyNinja733 get out of your own ass humans are very fucked up creatures this doesn’t surprise me at all. All “normal” people are just putting on an act pretending we aren’t still just roaming apes.
“Sir, could you move one seat to your left? “no! this is my seat” “Alright if it’s gunna be a problem then leave” “fine, i’m leaving” *GOOD ENDING ACHIEVED*
The movie theater is literally empty. Why can't they just let him sit where he wants? You guys have no brains of your own. You literally just agree with cr1tikal on everything.
that woman is probably the sweetest and most patient employee I had seen in a while. she's like a kindergarten teacher trying to calm a child with a tantrum
Man that woman was even saying, "I appreciate this" and "I apologize for that" like she was actually speaking to a polite customer instead of a drunk crazy old man
Her mental fortitude is literally beyond my comprehension. She was utterly unfazed, calm, collected, and even kind. She would be one hell of a "good cop." Hell, she should be in the actual movie instead of the theatre, with a performance like that.
She was saying "I appreciate this" to him saying he wouldn't come back, and was going to tell everyone about his experience. She was hoping that this idiot was gonna make an example out of himself of what not to do.
Everyone there definitely had more patience than I do because if I brought up the fact that he was in my seat and he started ranting, I would've just sat in another seat next to the one intended for me. He's definitely in the wrong but it would've been equally feasible for the other guy in the video to do what I just suggested instead of subjecting himself and others to this pathetic man's little tantrum.
She’s probably already the head manager considering she was out of frame for a bit but still watching. I say that because when she stepped in she said something along the lines of “okay I’ve heard enough now let’s take this back a little” and was so nice about it. If that’s the case then she’s working for a good company
Wise words indeed. To truly grow up means learning acceptance and overall having maturity This human meatball couldn't accept moving seats and definitely wasn't mature
I absolutely love when a totally unrelated third party chimes in when this crap happens. "Dude just go to your seat." guy always gets a good chuckle out of me.
As someone who used to work in retail, there are actually worse people than this guy. He is like a level 1 boss battle you face on the first day of work. It gets worse
I concur. I know Charlie said these employees deserve a raise but if we all got raises every time a customer acted like this we would be fucking loaded. This is just another day in the life as a retail worker. Nothing new
@@xanaxkfc1944 Also interested about hearting about Batman weekend lol, even tho I don't work at a theater! Was it like hell broke loose :( Cause I can only imagine
I’m amazed at her patience. For as disrespectful as that guy was was to her, she didn’t even so much as raise her voice. Not only that she somehow managed to get that guy to leave of his own accord, no police or security required. Absolute masterclass in situation defusal.
"Then I won't come back, ever. And I'll make sure other people know about this" This is one of the funniest things to me, because they like to pretend they matter and that people will care.
As a food service manager, my favorite thing in the world is "I'm never coming back here again" or some variant of that and hitting them with the "Thank you, you've caused enough problems this one time." It's beautiful. They just shut down, they think their $15 pays my entire paycheck.
I work at the customer service desk at Lowe's and we have a similar response from angry customers that will say "I'm going to shop at Home Depot" (which in kinda makes sense since Home Depot is just around the corner) and my response is always "ok have a nice day". My favorite part is the shocked look on their face after I say that. Honestly the thought going through my head when they say stupid shit like that is go ahead shop at Home Depot, don't let me stop you. Good luck finding someone to help you while you're there.
The worst part about these people is that they DO get "their" refunds and they DO get "their" drinks. They get better treatment than actually good people just so we can be done with 'em and get rid of 'em.
Yeah it sucks that it works this way in a lot of places I work at kfc and if someones yelling and getting all angry youre supposed to just give them what they want to get then out
"SOME OTHER PEOPLE CANT HANDLE IT, EVERYBODY GETS UPSET, YOU RUINED IT FOR ME" -the sole person upset in a theater, about to get arrested for a chair, after trying to ruin the movie for everyone else
The way she said 'i appreciate that' when he said hes going to blast this She is //DONE// with arguing with this terribly tall bald toddler. Commend her for her for staying so calm in such a ridiculous situation, he was probably just baiting and looking for a fight 🙄💀

WAAAAAA THIS PERSON IS OFFENDING ME AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA why isn't this working now? mom always fell for it... for 40 years while i lived in her basement and i always got my dinosaur chicken nuggies afterwards
Okay so real question: why do so many people, especially old people say they're never gonna come back as if that's gonna affect that employee? If you're doing something you're not supposed to then people aren't going to feel bad. I genuinely don't understand why people like to use that as an argument
eh sometimes the business is in the wrong but refuse to admit it especially small businesses and spreading bad words of mouth is the customers only resource. this isnt a good example one that happened to me is a convenience store wouldnt let my grandmother in with her service dog who was wearing a vest clearly marked as such(she has a spinal injury and without that dog she will fall), we could sue them for that now but back then our only resource was to spread the word, that business doesnt exist anymore. so yea there are legitimate reasons to ask for a manager because employees can be karens too and you should give management the opportunity to change course before pursuing further action.
@@theatricult that's a situation that I agree with your grandma on. But in other situations that the customer is clearly in the wrong I don't entirely get it

This is so strange to me. Where I’m from, you don’t get assigned seats for movie theaters. Where I’m from you buy a ticket, walk into the theater room, and you pick your own spot. For movies that have been out for a while there’s at most 10 people for 100 chairs For a brand new, really popular movie on the first couple of days is about 50 people to 100 chairs. That’s as crowded as it gets.
I once accidentally showed up way too early to meet my friends for lunch at a restaurant by our mall, so I decided to see a movie to pass the time. It was early afternoon on a Tuesday, so I was the only person seeing the movie, some horror movie. I'm sitting there chilling, I have the whole theater to myself and somehow I still managed to locate and sit in the seat I MYSELF HAD CHOSEN when buying my ticket - this asshole CHOSE his seat, if this was an AMC. I was about an hour into the movie when a strange man walked right into the empty theater and sat down directly beside me. It was dark and I was alone and I started feeling scared, so I went to find an employee and explained that the man hadn't done anything wrong, it was just really WEIRD that he'd walked into an empty theater showing a movie that had started an hour ago and sat down right next to the ONE other person sitting alone in a huge, empty theater. The employee went to speak to him, he hadn't even bought a ticket, but when the employee said they needed to call mall security he absolutely lost his shit and started screaming and flailing, and they called the cops who found zip ties and a screwdriver in his pockets before taking my statement. Those theater employees definitely saved my life, I hope this asshole loses his job and everything else he loves. It's the only way entitled people will learn.
The girl worker knows what she is doing. She came in and when the guy was asking please she goes were not doing this, you need to leave now. She didn't say she'd get him a drink she said they'd take care of him out in the lobby. And I'm sure the cops would be in the lobby shortly thereafter. She may even have got him a drink to stall for the cops to arrive. And I'm fairly certain that guy escaped from a mental institution for the criminally insane.
Always gotta love the "I'm never comin back, and i'm tellin everyone about this!" arguement. Cuz normally if you use that excuse, the results can only be better once you never come back.
I used to work at a fast food/ gas station hybrid and we would all be aware if there was a disturbing customer even in the kitchen because you could hear it / see our manager rushing around to deal with something. Would always love when she would then go on the radio and tell us all " they said theyre not coming back. Sad" and we would all just giggle. Loved her sarcasm lol
Yeah I lost all patience after Covid. I had a guy say that to my coworker and I said "Good. We don't want your business" after he probably broke a rule.
For real. Some lady came through drive thru when I worked at DQ and got the prices wrong and somehow it was my fault and I was trying to steal her money lmao. Refused to get out of line and come in to resolve as well while there was a line out into the street forming. My manager went outside and showed her the mistakes she made and she hits us with the I'm never returning here again line lol I hope she felt foolish.
I love how it was too much of a bother for him to shift one seat to the left, but it wasn't too much of a bother to argue for ten minutes, then get up, grab his stuff, and leave the theater
3:44 "because SOME OTHER people can't sit one seat off. ONE SEAT OFF" I love how he complains that other people couldn't do exactly what he was asked to do, and then repeats himself to emphasize how trivial of a problem it is. Like buddy...you're not helping yourself here.
Well when you think about it, all of them are making the same argument. But the burden lands on him because he is the one that created the situation. And now after typing that, I think I just realized why he made such a big deal of it. I almost feel bad for him. Look at how much of a task it was for him to just get out of the seat. It wasn’t worth it to him. He has no hope, no shame. He wanted more to drink. Whether it was alcohol or soda is kind of redundant. Poor soul. I’m high af
It's like going to a restaurant, paying for food, and eating off the plate of the table next to him. "I have a right to eat food!" "Yes, that you paid for." "I'm not even hungry anymore because of your sillyass rules."
as someone who works in retail, Walmart in particular, we are told that no matter what to just stay calm, as if we break and talk back, then you can get in trouble, it’s difficult
He's not the one acting like a child. The person who obviously told the cinema staff about him being ONE SEAT away from his owned assigned seat, in a seemingly empty cinema, is the child. Sit in the chair next to it and move the fuck on. One seat spot won't make a difference. Instead, they've gone out of their way to complain and make an otherwise chill guy angry over something that didn't need to be complained about. Imagine he did move and then you're sitting next to him after that bullshit. Cinema experience ruined, purely because that person believed incorrect cinema seating assignments are a goddamn criminal offence. Harden the fuck up
@@CarlsGravy Couldn't you say he could've moved over. Idk if you're trolling but d&d fanboy was in the wrong and I am biting if you're trolling. Yea the person could have not said anything but you can't let people like that have their way. They just get more entitled.
Be nice to movie theater employees. We are underpaid, we are mistreated, we don’t set the prices, we don’t set the rules, and we don’t even get benefits besides free tickets. And most of our employees are teenagers or part time employees who work a second full time job. I’ve worked food industry, retail, and movie theater industry, and the worst people are movie theater customers. I’ve been spit on by a customer for having Pepsi products not coke, I’ve been shoved down by a customer when asking him to leave after he snuck into a theater, we’ve had a lady call an employee the N-word because we were sold out for the new Top Gun, I’ve been called a Nazi because I asked to see someone’s ticket because they were sitting in someone else’s seat, someone every few weeks purposely overflows the sinks/toilets just cause, I clean shit out of the urinals way more than the average person should have to in their lifetime, had customers harass employees on their way into work because we are busy and they don’t want to have to wait in line, the average general manager turnover is around 1 1/2 years because the pay and benefits are so little and can get paid more working as a Target employee. It’s crazy that people think incidents like this happen rarely at theaters, because customers see a movie once every month maybe longer, but the situation in this video happens at my theater atleast once every few weeks and can happen almost daily during peak seasons like around Christmas. If you’re a movie theater employee I’d love to read your experiences below so everyone can see the shit we go through.
Ooh okay. I work in the boxoffice selling tickets in the movie theatre. Lots of older men harassing me. This one lady kept calling me names because I wouldn’t allow her 10 year old daughters into an R rated movie by themselves. Lady yelled at me because Elvis was sold out and I couldn’t get her any tickets since there was obviously no seats. Movie theatre employees get it extremely rough lmaoo
@@LukeMcGuireoides I think he was sitting in someone else's seat. Or maybe I'm just being naive thinking movie theaters wouldn't give a shit if a customer sat in an empty seat other than their own, especially one next to it

Coming from a “theatre” manager, this has happened so many damn times!!! My theatre actually had 2 grown men fight & swear over seat during Finding Dory! We had to call the police. SMH.
After sharing this with a few co-workers and rewatching with my hubby who’s heard me come home and explain the true meaning of “Karen”, I can confidently tell you all that I’ve had the exact same exchanges in a few different instances, word for word. I know this isn’t my theatre and it’s not area specific, humans need to try harder to be fucking nice & respectful to each other! A hilarious pre-show skit. Kudos to these calm jedi masters dealing with this huge baby. you can hear the other patrons chuckling at his comments of "I'll be the bigger man" stuff.
Here’s an anecdote that has nothing to do with this situation: When my aunt and grandmother took me and my brother to see Jurassic World: Dominion, we were the only people in the theater. And I mean we were the ONLY people in the theater. It was great. It meant that my brother and I got to sit where ever we wanted and put our feet up on the seats in fronts of us consequence free. Best movie theater experience of my life. It felt like we rented it out for just the four of us.
I literally work in a theater and this scenario is a pretty common occurrence. The sheer amount of people who cant comprehend how reserved seats/ assigned seating works is baffling
especially these days, even before covid....you selected/reserved your seats online and knew exactly what seat you'd be in, like a concert i was trying to think of anytime I've been an asshole like this, and the only time was when i yelled "fuck you" out my window at a homeless guy for jay-walking while i was trying to drive through a green light
My theater doesn't do assigned seats, but it isn't an issue if you get there early enough or wait till the movie you wanna see has been out for awhile.
That woman was great. De-escalated, offered things and made it seem like he was in control. That’s a great way to handle these type of people for the greater good of everyone else. If she was rude or condescending, he would have another tantrum
honestly she shouldn't have done that, this guy basically feels like he is getting his way in the end. He should've been dragged out in cuffs and charged with first degree trespassing. People need to have consequences for their actions, we shouldn't baby these types of people.
Or he would of just expected more.. sometimes you just have to draw the line. I've been in service industry for 10 years now and I'm so burnt out from people! Lol 😆
I don’t know why but I’ve always had a worrying feeling about something like this happening in a theater..mostly because I’m worried I can’t enjoy my movie.
im 10 and my mom says i cant go to the theater and i agree with this but yeah when i was younger my mom always said yea we can go but now it’s uncomfortable for me and covid exists so
My 11 year old commented on one of these man babies in walmart. As children do, she didn't hold back. She says, very loudly, while we are in line. "Daddy?" "Yes, boo?" "Why is that man acting like that? It's making me feel uncomfortable." He whipped around, ready to light her up, and all i said was, "Don't even think about it." He stopped, looked around, saw the sea of concerned, embarrassed, angry faces of the patreons around him and...how do i put it...snorted at my daughter, then stfu and stood quietly in line. These people are an embarrassment to everyone. Jesus.
The funny part is how he brings up the fact that "it's only one seat away" in his own retort argument. It's what people are telling him. Self awareness has hit an all time low.
It's not that they are not aware or confused, it's this man mind set that he is privileged to sit anywhere he feels fit despite the obvious seating order. That's the problem with these types. He went as far as demanding a free soda for his "inconvinience". That's how these folks are brought up and currently feel that this applies throughout their lifetime while a good half has to follow rules or be shot, arrested or fired if they acted this was. I know for a fact I'm not privilege what so ever and get annoyed at these kinds of outburst as it is childish and weak beta move. Privilege is everything to these idiots.
@WoioW oioW I get he was being dumb in his argument, but its honestly ridiculous youre going to force a specific rule when there are so many seats open and there isnt anyone in need of that seat. Maybe he got there and decided he liked the seat to the left more? The employee couldve saved himself so much trouble by letting him just chill where he was. Both sides couldnt concede and wasted everyones time in the pursuit of winning and its just pathetic for everyone involved
@@professionalhomeinvader6173 There's so many seats open because no one is there yet. Look at the background, nothing is playing on the screen. This is before even the advertisements.
@@professionalhomeinvader6173 You do realize people could still buy tickets for that movie and get that seat, hence the whole reason he should move, or are you just gonna ignore that?
It's the same as when you walk towards someone and you can clearly see they don't want to move 1 meter to the side for you so you in turn get angry that you have to move or risk running into them simply because they are too entitled and arrogant to move. It's such a small inconvenience but people will make a powergame out of anything because the smallest snippet of empowerement is the only thing that fills guys with pride nowadays.
2:07 “it doesn’t matter where you sit” then why is he so adamant about staying where he’s sitting? “this isn’t assigned seating” yes, it is, it’s whatever your ticket says
I worked in a movie theater in high school, way before pre-selecting your seat was even a vague concept. Nothing like being a teenager trying to ask grown men (it was ALWAYS the men in the group who got pissy) to scoot over a seat or two to make room for others in a sold-out show. Yeah, no one likes to sit that close to strangers, but bugging out on a kid makes you an a-hole.
As someone who works in a cinema, this happens constantly. People who come in just seem to get annoyed at the most trivial stuff and like to take it out on the staff. We have had so many members of staff in tears because of entitled customers feeling the need to shout at workers over something as trivial as not sitting in the right seat. It’s ridiculously common.
I get that there’s some asshole customers out there but I’ve never understood how a customer can bring someone to tears. Like they’re an asshole, why would u take anything they say to you seriously. It’s not like it’s someone who’s opinion you value like a family member or something.
God this kinda sad but also really funny. My mom's the same way. "Who's that?" Mom this is literally everyone's first time seeing this movie ever, how am I supposed to know, just stfu and watch the damn movie
The idea of like a 6 year old swearing hard-F then driving their mom to tears and abandon their child, and then the child to feel bad for it instead of taking the opportunity to watch the film in peace is hilarious. Nobody is mature anymore.
You just get numb to it. Way too many people like this in the world. That and it's honestly easier because 9/10 they are just looking to rile someone up so not giving them the satisfaction makes it boring and not worth it.
I would be extremely tempted to threaten them with a gun, not out of malice or anything, just purely to see how they would react, I'd commend them if they didn't instantly pale at the sight and apologize while begging for their life lol
Very well done on the part of the staff here. I've had to work in de-escalation a lot in my job, and the way that they were able to remain calmer than the person they're talking to and explain to him what he needed to do was legendary and a great example of how to deal with a situation like this. It's not rude or mean, but still firm and honest. He was being a disruption, and they were more than happy to let him watch the movie if he would cooperate, and when he wouldn't they made it clear that he wasn't going to be allowed to ruin the experience for everyone else. Also her trying to get him to leave the theater first and foremost before negotiating anything is the correct course of action for sure. If I were ever in a hostage situation I'd want these two running negotiations lmfao
I fail to understand how people are like: ‘children are so stupid. All they do is cry.’ meanwhile there are thousands of videos of fully grown adults are doing this.
Yeah... I work at a fast food place, and I've been working there for roughly 2 years. I've seen some "Karens" but i've also seen some decent customers. 1 Karen complained about "false advertising." Get this, we ran out of some sodas, so we temporarily switched to selling bottled sodas. Well, because of that, and we didn't post a sign or anything to let people know it's coming from a bottle, she goes nuts about it.
There needs to be a policy that whenever you have to deal with people like this you get a 100 dollar bonus on your next paycheck. That woman was being more than reasonable
