Is a car even second hand when its had 10 previous owners? Join @Project40Cars and take a look at at the things wrong with my new project car and an overview of the features of a 2002 Fiat Punto HGT (you may be surprised...).
I had a yellow 2001 sporting from 2003 to 2008. I loved it. It may have been my favourite car yet. Whilst it was just 80bhp, it was so nippy. Every so often, i look for them on autotrader and pistonheads. It had the same steering wheel. It was really reliable too. It feels very nostaligic to see this.
I recently drove my sporting that I bought for its parts, it’s a really great combo! The the light weight really makes good use of the 80bhp on tap. I doubt there would be much in it up to 40mph vs my HGT.
I've a 03 punto active sport yellow same issues but lots rust ill be watching yoir journey while I'll be doing my own with mine lol how many miles has it done ?
Looking forward to seeing more. Another owner of one of the 15 or so here. (Would be great if we could get them all in one place one day!) My CD Changer was doing the exact same thing when I got mine 7 years ago. Luckily managed to get a replacement delivered from a Cash Converters of all places! 😁 Does yours have the hill holder on the clutch? Not sure if it was standard, but love it on mine (though thought there was something wrong with it when I first got it!)
@Project40Cars no its just on the clutch itself. If you have the clutch in whilst on a hill and the brake down, the brake will hold until you engage the revs and release it :) Like a handbrake alternative, didn't know what it was at first, thought my brakes were locking! 😄
i had this car from 2013-2016. To be honest, the only thing that didn't break (and worked pretty well) were the rear window heaters. in the 3 years I had it, it broke : EVERYTHING THAT COULD BREAK. water leaked around the antenna when it rained. I fixed that with chewing gum. timing belt broke at 13,000 kilometers, it was the first engine failure. shock absorbers, the mirror in the cabin fell off, the lights worked as they wanted, and the real skill was to replace the tire, because it was completely rotten from the bottom. the intake manifold exploded, the neighbors called the police. some 'upper' engine mount that cost about 90 euros in Serbia at the time. second engine failure- i checked the oil level 3 days before i had the engine fail the second time, but this time it failed because it ran out of oil. first I heard banging in the engine, only then did the light come on. the only thing is that the second time he traveled another 3000 kilometers with such an engine. before selling it for scrap, I wanted to sit in it one last time and add gas, to enjoy it, but then it broke down completely. never again FIAT !!!
Great video! I own a 2001 5-door ELX. Its a great little car and it cost me only €700. For the yearly inspection (apk in the Netherlands) I had to fix an exhaust leak but overall the car has never left me stranded. The only problem it currently has is the infamous airbaglight after I disconnected the battery for a month because of vacation. My local garage reset the light but it came back on after just 5 minutes😂.
