With labor rates in Silicon Valley clearing $200 per hour the only one that seems excessive to me is the engine mounts. While I agree the work isn't that difficult, most people can't do it themselves, they simply don't have the mechanical skills to do it.
I bought a 23 skat pak limited edition swinger 9 months ago. I kept me 17 year old honda element with 255,000 miles on it . Just to keep the miles down on my new car. That honda had only regular maintenance issues for 17 years. Until this month. It seems everything went out at once. 3 oil leaks from seals in the engine. Front end parts needing replaced with all new struts. New plugs . The labor to replace the seals was rediculuos. About $600 for each seal. I had it all done . Since i haven't put any money in this car in 17 years, im hoping it will be at least 3 to 4 years before i do again. By that time i can pay cash for a new"second car". I'm in Texas. Repair rates are high everywhere.
