a few things are wrong with this episode. but that's a problem with most season 3 episodes and it looks like this theme is continuing in season 4: there are no stakes. since rick broke out of prison and destroyed the citadel there are almost no instances of things that matter or have long-term repercussions. by the end of s3e1 rick reveals he is a psychopath that wants to control the family to get that szechuan sauce... none of this is mentioned ever again. in s3s2 summer reveals that she is maybe even crazier and more unpredictable than rick... this never gets picked up again, even worse, she is the one rick trusts with bringing his own brain back after he erases his memory. in pickle rick, we meet jaguar who saves their lives in the epilogue but never appears or gets mentioned again... without an overarching narrative it would be nice if characters are actually affected by the stuff they witness. but here we are in season 4 and rick is throwing out vulgar one-liners that sound like they were written by 12 y/o's who cry for szechuan sauce at mcdonald's

I didn't like that Therapist. didn't really think she had a point, either.

The episode clearly highlights the unhealthy "ignoring the plight of the family in lieu of Rick's and Beth's toxic relationship" which is why the episode is *written* in such a way that the therapist gets the last word in over Rick and the car ride home- in which Rick and Beth ignore Summer and Morty's obvious pleas for more therapy- is written in with awkward silence, not clever rebuttle. I can't imagine why anybody would walk away from this episode thinking that Rick or Beth were at all in the right, or that any of their "quips" disassembled the therapist. Her words bothered *them* because *she* was right. That's the point.

They should have just done all the episodes. More views, more happy consumers, more subscribers, more time for us consumers to enjoy their content, etc.

Lights JusticeZ This episode in combination with the Szechuan sauce bit is the moment that anyone not already into the show was given a massive deterrent for checking it out. Toxic fans are the worst, and you couple that with a bunch of edgy teenagers who can’t see past the nihilism angle, and you have a man willing to jump up on a counter, pull his shirt over his head and shout “I’m pickle Rick! Szechuan sauce!” before jumping down and spinning around in the ground. Which is a huge shame, because the show is actually amazing, but the toxicity of its fan base have made ruined its momentum. That being said, I still enjoyed Season 4, especially the second half of the season.
