Funny because there's a scene from the 1986 film The Karate Kid Part II where John Kreese (the Cobra Kai/Antagonists' Sensei) assaults Johnny Lawrence because he lost the fight and Mr Miyagi steps in to defend the student and embarrass the teacher. This film really does just copy every aspect of the original without any of the heart.

Just a small addition to the fact that their are multiple dialects. There are Traditional Chinese characters and Simplified. So they do look different...but Simplified is used extensively in Mainland China while Traditional is used more often in Taiwan or Hong Kong. I think breaking it down to the spoken dialects confuses this point a little...so just adding to your comment here, not correcting it.

Dude, It is not harmful for a child to be fit like that. It is in the Medical books. I was like that at probably 10 years old. My Father was a Career Soldier. My older brother and I worked out and ran with him everyday. I'm Retired Army and 71 years old and still VERY fit. So is my brother, who is 75. It's called exercise and proper diet and living clean. Both of my children are still in the Army and very fit and they were started out young as I was, and maintained their fitness. As well as my brothers Son. You don't need enhancement to be fit. Look over RU-vid and you can see MANY Asian Kids that look the same way, and even younger. Why? They are not spoiled and don't watch TV and play games or on a PC all freaking day, like most of the USA kids are and have been for 30 years now. They work, train, eat proper and have PARENTAL guidance while they are young. Unlike many US parents that could give a shit that their kids weigh 50 to 100 pounds overweight, eat garbage, with no exercise, and NO guidance what so ever. All kids should look something like Jaden Smith. I'm proud of the kid and don't even know him. I do know he is a good person. He's worth $8M bucks and is involved in all kinds of charities and drives for clean drinking water, etc. That is a good person. One with dedication and drive. Which the US kids have none.

They don't speak different languages but dialects. Meaning we all speak Chinese but the way we pronounce words is a bit different and because of this subtitles exist to help with those that do not speak the same dialect as the one being used in shows/movies etc. China was not originally China but fractions of different regions and thus different dialects were developed but the written language is the same no matter where you live in China and so its beneficial to have subtitles

My Boring Opinion Correct this movie is about Gong Fu

Jackie Chan did an interview on the Chris Moyles Show when the movie first came out and said he wanted to name it Kung Fu Kid, but Kung Fu panda had taken all the rights to using Kung Fu in a movie title

That's honestly a bit of a misnomer tho. While karate and kung fu have come to be known as terms for individual styles, in their native languages, they really both are just generic terms for fighting with bare hands. You might be a boxer but someone from Japan would most likely still call what you do karate while someone from central China would still probably call it kung fu. Kind of like how we call Japanese cartoons anime while, to them, anime is just their word for cartoons in general.

@@chrisavilez9515 idk if the teacher said fuck all that and attacked him and he defended himself, and considering the very defensive way jackie chan fights where essentially makes you whoop your own ass by getting you to run into things, fall over yourself, embarass you, and counter you, i dont think it would have taken away from that point at all. i think it would only taken away from it if the violence devolved into a martial arts style bar fight with them unceremoniously trying to beat each other's asses. jackie could counter him with his style and essentially humble him and furthet prove his point about reckless, merciless aggression. and it would be something that distinguishes it from its predecessor and make it less "beat-for-beat". And it would also make the bow at the end more significant/poetic. it would flow together if tweaked a bit.

this is clearly a full contact tournament in the earlier round he straight up punches him in the face, so the kick would count. The point that shouldn't have counted was the deliberate legbreaking kick above the knee that lead to the kick in the face.

Andy Taken Okay lets say this is a full contact tournament. If it was, then there are some regulations that require all participants to wear face masks in case of injury. This is for the safety of the participants, this movie, and basically Hollywood itself, overlooks this to create a drama in the sport.

I watch Cinema Sins because I can get the gist of a film without having to to strain my weak attention span. Cinema Sins is basically how I watch movies.

To be fair the concept behind it is fairly solid. Think of anything you repeatedly do, an example would be driving a stick shift for a long time then jumping into an auto. I guarantee you that your foot will go for the clutch and you'll reach down to shift when you stop. The whole knowing it like the back of your hand thing. Although you're right it doesn't give you fucking super human abilities, like a 13 year old suddenly being able to block ANYTHING Jackie Chan throws at him.

its some shit related to the phylosophy of kung fu. that kung fu is anything that you pratice so often that you master it, so anything can be kung fu... at least I think that is the idea

Kung Fu is about finding a fighting strength you have indirectly, then utilizing it for fighting. Although "Kung Fu" isn't actually fighting or martial arts. It's a phrase about professionalism

It really wasn't about training him in reflexes, though Jackie turned it into training. As he told him, all of LIFE is Kung Fu. The main reason he was making him hang up his jacket over and over was to teach discipline and respect.
