Everything Wrong With The LEGO Ninjago Movie In 13 Minutes Or Less

The fact that Lloyd said he didn’t want the green element and asked to be the gold ninja made made me slurp until my life ended.

(Sighs) In the show... Lloyd was built the entire seasons from being a bratty child into a Young Hero who had a pure of heart. Kai was the angry and emotional ninja who always wanted to be the best, and slowly matured over time. Jay was always the funny and joking ninja. He had his moments when he was with Nya. He also developed with him caring about his parents who always embarrassed him. Cole was the strong and leader type Ninja. He would always try to solve things and get the team to work to defeat the enemy. Zane was the strange ninja. No one knew he acted weird until an actual plot twist that he was a robot. He even had a back story about his creator. He even sacrificed himself and technically died. Nya was the strong independent woman. She would always try to help the Ninja but do things her way. She eventually became a Ninja after a few seasons and not instantly. Wu was always mysterious but caring towards the Ninja. He treated them like family and could still fight. Garmadon was an actual villain! He actually did try to destroy them and had his own backstory of how he became evil. He was a real threat but still had his laughable moments. You get my point. I like the show way better and this movie’s interpretation of it is just sad...

Cinemasins: why would you tell Lloyd to accept his father's identity? OG Ninjago fans: Because he was bitten by the Great Devourer and its venom turned him evil?

My main issue: They didn’t use the original voice actors

I know this isn't canon but MAN! They change some very important details. Like how Garmadon got his extra arms, him being an idiot, Lloyd's mom's design(don't mind that to much actually), age, and name, the DRAGONS, and Garmadon not caring about Lloyd. THAT was the worst part. Also they didn't know spinjutsu or airjutsu and didn't have golden weapons. But at least the Bounty was still there, and a look into their High school life was fun. Plus, the love story was cute. But, why is Cole suddenly, turntables, boombox, what happened to cake and triple tiger sashay!? And terrible singing. Wu's flute is also funny.

as someone who has watched EVERY SINGLE EPISODE of the show, i take offense to you not knowing about 1/2 the stuff

I like how he sins the sharks in the elevator, yet ignores the name of the building, being a bad shark pun, and ignores the shark sitting at a desk talking on the phone

The only cool thing this film did was turn Jay adorable. AND EVEN THAT DIDNT WORK OUT.

This has nothing to do with the show, other than the characters, and spinjitsu (Which they didn’t even feature on screen, they only mentioned it to make a “funny” Gag about them practicing it) . The ultimate weapon is a gold Staff that was made from the gold weapons the ninja had (mentioned later on), they COMPLETELY changed the characters, (and voice actors) which THEN lead to them changing the actually GOOD Already designed characters, to the not as good slight trash characters that are featured in this movie. The story doesn’t work at all, because the show actually had a good compelling story with love-able characters and a good timeline, which the movie COMPLETELY Ruined. Example: this movie Doesnt have the frickin golden weapons, that the show captured Perfectly. So.... 40 sins added for this movie ruining the show anyone who actually watched/watches it. Evil Armies: Movie: People dressed as fish. TV Show: Undead warriors, snake people, indestructible stone soldiers, robot ninja, snake-worshipping cult, cursed spirits, pirates, mannequins possessed by the spirits of past enemies, samurai made of snakes, evil biker gang.

As a person who's seen the tv show, the movie is a far cry from the source material and it really doesn't inspire anything other than me questioning why they went for the most painfully forced power rangers knock off on the planet approach, rather than, I don't know, an actual substantive plot that wasn't an overblown daddy issues situation like the kid in the first LEGO movie.

The TV version was a part of my childhood. I actually felt emotions for every single character. Sure, the newer seasons are a bit of a mess, but it's still a trillion times better than this movie. Imagine if The Simpsons Movie like this; All the characters have design changes. Homer is voiced by Simon Pegg or just another popular comedian instead of Dan Castellaneta and all the other voice actors are changed for all the other characters for some popular comedians but they still have the same names as the show counterparts. Then they have Mr. Burns as the villain of the movie but he has very little backstory or reason to be evil. Then the movie has a plot twist where a CGI cat is the actual villain and then they beat the CGI cat and then Homer and Mr. Burns are best friends, the end. That's exactly what The Lego Ninjago Movie feels like to fans of the Cartoon Network show.

Hmm.... I didn't see any of their "spinjitzu" or any of their "true potential" forms. When do they actually use their elemental powers? Where are the Serpintine? This whole movie was a missed opportunity. Its sad to see a show i watched when I was young crash and burn.

This is so different from the tv show, that this should NOT be classified as Ninjago

The ninjago movie was funny, I really enjoyed watching it but I was also very disappointed. They didn't include many important details from the show which kinda ruined the movie. 1.Nya became water ninja in s5 so wayyy after Garmadon turned good 2. Zane didnt act like a nindroid 3. Lloyd basically has a new mom, the design is so different (but honestly I dont mind it that much bc if we are being totally honest here, misako was the worst person ever coz she cheated on Garmadon with his brother when he was evil and after he died, left her child aka the GREEN ninja to EVIL school like why not leave him with wu and so much more stuff. Sorry for a rant, I had to say that) 4. The DESIGNS 5. They don't have dragons (20+ sins) 6. They had the elemental powers ages ago 7. They know how to spinjitzu, they learned them at the episodes where they find the golden weapons so like BEFORE s1 (except Lloyd and Nya) 8. Garmadon knew Lloyd was the green ninja the same time the others did 9. Garmadon isnt blonde, he never was. Brunette for life 10. Kai's eyebrow scar thing is on the other side (actually he doesn't even have a scar, just the brow cut thing) 11. The ninjas arent high schoolers (except Lloyd, his age is kinda mystery bc of the tomorrow's tea), I have a proof. Remember s1 the ep. cole reached his full potential? They mentioned there that his father thought cole was at the Marty Oppenheimer School of Performing Arts which was some kind of university and I don't think the ninjas have that big age difference so I belive they all are like 19 or something (again except Lloyd and nya) 12. The ninjas aren't that secret, in the show they literally take their hoods off everywhere. Everyone knows who they are 13. Lloyd's eyes aren't green 14. Zane isn't dumb 15. Garmadon's armies were never humans 16. Garmadon's transformation (aka two arms + dat evil look) was final after Lloyd's birth, not before 17. Garmadon never hurt his son (except s8/9 but that was totally different thing, it wasn't the garm we knew) 18. The golden weapons, techno swords etc. 19. Zane doesn't have a mom 20. Lloyd's elemental power is energy (also gold but he lost that) 21. Great devourer wasnt bitten by a spider (at least in the show they never said anything like that) 22. Garmadon got his four arms from the dark place so he would be able to hold the golden weapons, it wasnt just bc of devourer At first when I saw the trailer I HATED so much the new designs, voice actors etc. but then when few years passed and I came back to watching ninjago and I watched the movie, I actually liked it. I kinda like the movie being different from the show but its also too different

100000 sins for changing the character designs and voice actors from the TV show

As a show fan, this was so disappointing. I was screaming at the trailer's (not to mention when I first saw it), and I almost didn't watch season 8 because I was scared it was going to turn out like this. For the characters, they took one aspect of their personality and overdid it to the point they are almost unrecognizable. Lloyd - Complicated Family Dynamics - Now it's the whole point of him. Kai - Passion - Kai is not a hugger, he does not just say things like that, I just...I don't even know how to explain it. Jay - Anxiety - Which he covered up by cracking jokes and being lighthearted, not being an awkward social outcast. He loves people! Cole - Cool Personality - I'm honestly not too mad because when this was released he didn't have much character development, but still. Where is the down-to-earth food-loving strength of the team? Zane - Robot - That's it. That is all he shares in common with the original Zane. His was messed with most, and if he didn't have a similar design and robotic parts, I wouldn't have recognized him. Nya - Independent Girl - She went from being a smart and dependable teammate who is constantly challenged due to sexism to Wildstyle 2.0. There are so many other things wrong, but these are my main points.

As somebody who’s been keeping up with the show since I was 8/it started, this movie is a huge disappointment and does a *massive* disservice to the source material.

Biggest sin for me: this movie had jack-shit to do with the original TV series (which was amazing) They didn't even use the damn theme song!! (Also they didn't use spinjitzu either)

Zane does NOT play a comedic role. Also, Lloyds power is not green, his power is power. He has the powers of all the other ninjas.
