Those big coolers work great but I gotta say I love my Ridgid Gen5x Hybrid Fan that will run off a battery or can be plugged in and is portable and has 10 different mounting options from hanging on a screw on the wall to being mounted on a tripod to being hung on a string or cable or even being mounted on a 2x4 from level to sideways or even upside down, It's definitely the way to go when your moving around. But I sure wouldn't mind one of those big coolers for my garage that's for sure!

BACKWARDS! Gas POPS like a explosion, kicking the piston like a bat hitting a ball. Diesel burns throughout the stroke , a long soft shove. That's where the torque is created. Just ask the guys writing / programing the custom tune chips for all the trick diesels.
@tractorboy31
@tractorboy31 6 лет назад
But the explosion is what makes them loud. Lol. Its a shame the gov is choking diesels out. Go back 20 yrs and ask somebody for diesel exhaust fluid and theyd laugh at you just like if you asked for blinker fluid. You see more bigger work trks as gassers cause the diesel engine costs have gone up ridiculously and def systems are junk and a epa game. Id rather have a bad running desiel than a clean gasser in a room with me
@aernan

technically the cetane is what causes fast initial flame front. Cetane rating in europe is lower and diesels are quieter and make less diesel rattle. Go read this: www.maxxtorque.com/2009/03/diesel-timing.html

top fuel burns down the stroke to ,but higher compression with gas can burn up the mix in 10 to 15 % down the stroke so u dont need as long as a stroke and that will help getting to a higher rpm

My last car was a petrol 5.7L LS1 V8, but as I travel and tow alot for work, I now have a 4 cylinder 2.5L Turbo deisel. First thing I noticed was the lag and the knocking sound. Although diesel has much better fuel economy when towing, I miss the instant power and the purr of the V8.

This is a pretty good video! I'm getting a Diesel engine for my Triton Ute, also known as a L200, and i am getting it for the power output of the engine. Knowing they can run away, i have specifically said "I want a manual gear box" for in a few cases, It will give me more power when towing then a regular 3 speed automatic, and it will also allow for more control, such as a Diesel Run away event. The event being when the engine's fuel is cut of, and starts using fuel from the Sump of the engine. Should the event happen, i can easily stop the vehicle engine, and avoid a melt down or worst. I also know, that in the event that i do such to stop the engine, it will need to be checked for Excessive damage to bearings and Gear box gears. The amount of power from the engine, could smash up some teeth within the gear box. And to avoid it, i will try and put other safe guards in-place, such as a air choke which is manual, and designed to regulate air from 0-100.

Bob, the throttle valve is strictly used to meter the exhaust gas as it is recirculated in the engine, but not in the traditional sense in a spark ignition engine where it is used to meter the intake air into engine.

Just curious what state your in because craftsman is all but dead here in Utah, there are no Sears stores left in Salt Lake, craftsman did however recently strike a deal with Lowe's to start carrying some of their tools, mostly power tools and toolboxes. And I just have to come straight out and say it since I have a very nice Home Depot Husky toolbox, they were the first ones to come out with soft close toolbox drawers and now a couple years later everyone seems to be trying to catch up and follow suit, I've noticed that craftsman and even Lowe's toolboxes now have soft close drawers, not saying that It's a bad thing, I'm glad that Husky came out with them and other companies followed suit because it helps keep my tools from sliding to the back of the drawer overtime as I repeatedly closed the drawers which I always hated with normal toolbox drawers lol! Also I hate to have to say it but I paid $1800 for a 52" wide bottom and top chest craftsman toolbox with 16" deep drawers and no frills as my first toolbox, later on I picked up a 56" wide bottom and top Husky toolbox with 20" deep soft close drawers, large bottom drawers that fit even my large power tools a full length middle drawer 6 caster wheels and a large hydraulic canopy with a power strip across the back with 6 outlets and 2 USB ports all things which my craftsman toolbox unfortunately lacked and it only cost me $1200. I don't want to sound like a hater but when I was growing up craftsman was supposed to be one of the best brands out there, not including power tools or tools bought off the tool trucks, but after a short time I began to find that a lot of their tools and their toolboxes were overrated. Again I'm not trying to be a hater and that is just my own personal opinion and your free to your own opinion. Sorry to stray off topic there.

You still need a longer connecting rod to pair with the longer crank lobe - otherwise, a short con rod/long crank lob will crash engine parts. The long crank gives the engine more "leverage" to turn the crank - IE like sitting further back on the end of the seesaw.

technically you are incorrect about diesel engines not having a throttle. some diesel engines do have a throttle, but it's not used to control the intake air or the revs like in a petrol. it's used to control intake vacuum under engine braking and for emission control. not digging or nay saying, just thought I would add my 2 cents.

Very very wrong! It will cause premature wear in the fuel injection pump, and pre-ignition or detonation. Seriously BAD IDEA!
@drspeed111
@drspeed111 11 лет назад
On short drives, it doesn't hurt the engine. Suggestions would be to change the oil more often because cold engines cause cylinder wall wetting from the fuel, which inherently gets pulled into the lube oil, diluting it. Also, if you have a DPF, it will not give it a chance to regenerate, which may require a stationary regeneration or a trip to the dealership for a cleaning.

But wait there's more🙌, I've worked on diesels forever, old Mercedes and CAT, Ford, Cummings, and more, the best thing to do is learn about all fuel injection systems and setting timing and valve lashing to perfection🙏👊, the tools sponsor 🔧🔥, and on injection pumps trap isolation, is were the start to dog out🐕😋 on older diesel, bit then again running any seafoam and or diesel booster fluids would help others out on the topic. 😎

What would you like to know? DEF (aka Urea) is a 32.5% aqueous solution of ammonia (NH3) and water. It's injected upstream of the SCR (selective catalytic reduction) catalyst, and is used reduce oxides of nitrogen (NO, NO2...aka NOX) from the tailpipe by converting it to nitrogen (N2) and water.

11:15 why do I keep seeing these holes in the side of the exhaust pipes on newer diesels? Is the goal of it to create a venturi, pulling air into the exhaust via the holes to dilute the soot? So its more volume of air, less thick black smoke?
@trastek92
@trastek92 10 лет назад
newer diesels, (07+) from factory have a diesel particulate filter, this keeps the soot from getting out the tail pipe, when clogged it has to be burnt out by whats called a regeneration cycle, where fuel is added to the exhaust stream to create a burn. resulting in 1000+ degrees, the holes are there to pull the exhaust out more, and aid in cooling, especially during a regen.

he should have said that gas engines have compression ratios that range from about 4:1 to about 13.5:1 , and diesels range from as low as 16:1 to about 23:1 . i once found an owners manual for a 1960's ford stepvan and it listed it as 16:1 . i did'nt know they go that low but apparently they do . just like a gas engine , if it is turbocharged it must have a lower compression ratio to avoid head sealing problems

***** Not only that but they say that the government couldn't pay for the roads that are built with the amount of fuel being sold... Supposedly... But there are vehicles out there that are ILLEGAL to sell in America only because of their mileage and what the EPA wants. There is a mini cooper out there for sale in the UK right now and it gets 71 MPG but they cant sell it here because our EPA and government suck! Sorry for the rant by the way!
