Couple things to note. 2:28 My preference is to hang from the torque wrench as it puts far less pressure on your back, ive seen 60 kg guys break them off no problem this way. 2:41 You actually have to have the wheel off the ground for the entire process including the initial loosening. 5:19 That was way too much grease on the nut you only need a very thin film otherwise as the wheel heats up and the grease thins it will be flung out from the nut leaving grease all over the wheel. 6:20 you dont need to have the accessories on to get enough brake pressure its not that hard to get enough pressure to stop the wheel spinning. Aside from loosening the wheel on the ground these are all just my recommendations after changing hundreds of center lock wheels, otherwise great video.
I find it strange that 911 owners barked at the price ($4995) of the Hytorc Center Lock Torque gun, which gives you the most accurate torque, it only takes minutes for all 4 wheels and you don't need another person to stepped on the brake to prevent the wheels from spinning. Spend over $150k on a 911, complained about a $4995 tool.
There are other solutions using a torque multiplier that are way easier and don’t require the gigantic breaker and torque wrench. I have had 3 center lock cars now with multiple wheels and have never used anything more than a normal torque wrench and multiplier.
How often do you take your wheels off though ? Maybe twice a year if you daily drive it and swap between summer and winter tires. Yes it's a bit of a hastle compared to normal 5 lugs, but nothing ridiculous.
I think porsche has a tool that screws in after you take the nut off so you can just slide the wheel on it, the last thing you want to do is knick the ceramic rotors with the wheels. If i had the money i still wouldn't option these centerlock wheels, pita
Some smart ass history stuff (around 7:30): The „tip“ of the Porsche crest points towards the valve of the tire. So the mechanics in the old days new where the valve is. I heard this somewhere somewhen, and just found it amazing. Besides that - nice video! Just facts and doing, without too much ting-a-ling around it. Nice!
