No, if you only use your Big Green Egg as a direct cooker but if you want to roast, smoke or bake then you will absolutely need the convEGGtor. Some people say you shouldn't own an EGG without one.
What is the difference between convEGGtor and plate-setter?
No difference, the plate-setter was the old name but they do exact same thing, create indirect cooking on the Big Green Egg.
Can you cook directly on the convEGGtor?
It is not recommended but if you want to use it after a cook to warm up some tortillas, pitas or toast up some bread, there's no harm in that.
Which way does the convEGGtor go?
