yeah its currently 4pm and I have a freestyle tournament tomorrow morning. I don't know a single rule or difference with normal wrestling yet, wish me luck

I'm Canadian and we only do freestyle and sometimes I don't even remember the small rules you kinda just have to wrestle

im new to the wrasslin world. what is the difference between folkstyle and freestyle regarding not being able to do anything wile you are on the bottom in the later meanwhile there are moves in folkstyle to do from the bottom. i want to know why are there such differences?

@@cpostclothesrack2012folk style you stay on bottom until. You get pinned get out or time runs out in freestyle you stay on bottom until 10 seconds have passed and your reset to neutral folk style there are points awarded for escaping on bottom freestyle there aren’t it’s also easier to score in freestyle as a turn is 2 so it’s riskier to attempt anything on bottom where as folk style the only ways to score on top is with near fall or a pin

Dan Gable had a little trouble adjusting to freestyle wrestling. I saw him on tv, and he said that he went through a time where he drank and chased women, and maybe that was why he lost a few freestyle matches. But I also heard remark on the internet that when he wrestled Rick Sanders he tried a couple of granby rolls. He gave up two back exposures because of that. If you're doing granby rolls in a freestyle match you need to work on your freestyle technique. Nevertheless, in the 1972 Olympics no one scored a point on Dan Gable. He was awesome.

My old high school coach told me this....,"The reason american folktale wrestling isn't in the Olympics is because, folks style, wrestling in Japan is Sumo." That one simple statement made everything make sense lol

Question, when the top wrestler has secured a takedown, why do they not use a half Nelson or other types of techniques to try to secure a turnover and possible pin? It looks like they only want to go for either a gut wrench or a leg lace, instead of perhaps a half Nelson or another type of turn technique to expose the shoulders then possibly a pin.

It would have been great if you explained want moves are illegal. When I wrestled back when dirt was young, you weren't allowed lock hands or apply pressure against the joints, like an arm bar.

I love Freestyle but, I really feel the scoring is overly complicated. I also really think they should make the scoring MUCH less complicated and all USA Wrestling should be covered to Freestyle & Greco.
