Made my own “fund” for each of my daughters that contain 20 dividend paying stocks or funds. (Actually 19 dividend products and Nintendo stock because I gave into teen oressure). Started when they were 14 and try to contribute 1000 usd a year to it through dollar cost averaging and fractional share buying. I am trying to encourage them to be prepared to contribute $38 a week to it from the time they turn 18 until they are 24ish (or they are ready to control their own investments) so they have a solid 10 years of investing under their belt.

well with college students, if you live at home, you should be investing most of the money into the market for it to grow. and it doesn't hurt to covert some of your money into gold or silver to stop yourself from spending it.

When the market goes down then it's buying opportunity. If the market goes up then you are making money. If you stay invested and ignore the market's ups and downs, you'll make a lot of money in the long run; however, a severe market correction causes a lot of margin calls and sell-offs, driving the market even lower. currently, I'm up 13% in my diversified portfolio. Next step for me is to repay all of the debt I have within next 5 months and then I want to start investing. So I'm starting to learn about it as much as I can and by the time I'm 28 I would like to start. However I am already saving for my retirement since I started working full time, so that is 4 years already. I'm saving 1,000CZK/month, that would be around 43USD/month to get the maximum contribution by government.

If you do your own investing, have you ever wondered whether you should turn things over to a professional Financial Adviser ? If you have significant assets, you have probably felt anxiety when making choices with your money. Perhaps you sensed that you might make better investing decisions if you knew just a little more and could invest without emotion. If this is the case, consulting a financial advisor makes perfect sense.

The bank provided a 401k and match up to 5% and during the time I was working there I had plenty of time to build a rapport with the investment rep. So when I decided to pursue graduate school 3years later I had saved about $7000 and I worked with our rep to roll it over to a Roth IRA and it was INVALUABLE to have the money to pull from getting set up with a new job in a new city.

Open a Roth IRA with TD Ameritrade online or another high rated commission free broker on Nerdwallet. Deposit $100. Buy $100 of stock. Sell $100 of stock. Congratulations, you just learned how to trade stock. It's literally clicking buttons and you don't have to talk to or pay anyone to do it if you don't want to. Investing money is like hiring employees that do the work for you and you get and the profit and you can sell those employees when you don't like them anymore. Simply Wall St is a good web site to help select stocks (easy to see what groups of analysts think, somewhat like Rottentomatos ). Invest money you have and don't need to spend. If you owe money to credit cards, you don't have money. Hold winning stocks for 1 yr+ to minimize tax liability. Don't panic sell stocks just because they go down.

One thing to watch out for that wasn’t mentioned. There is a difference between average return and capital growth. Eg. Your cash goes up 50% year 1 and then goes down 50% year two. If you had 100 dollars then you’d now have 75. Your average return would be 0%. Your capital growth would be -25%. Equally, this makes it very difficult to judge stocks based on their previous rate of return. A stock that returns a lower average rate may just be less volatile. Equally, a lot of investors on RU-vid have only been investing for years during an upward market and are yet to see a downswing so their success is akin to buying a house, painting a wall, seeing the value triple because the market goes up and claiming that your renovations created the value. Certainly not suggesting people don’t invest, but understand that it’s more complicated than it appears to be and a lot of you tubers gain exposure from having videos on popular topics such as what index fund should I invest in? TFD great as always though!
