I mean the only reason nepotism rules is because no one else can’t afford to model anymore. They don’t pay models except in trade or ‘exposure’ so even the most beautiful women can’t afford to model unless they are nepotism babies, so honestly the industry only has themselves to blame
@@V_4_Versace the trend started in the early 2000’s when big fashion companies started to hire well know singers and actresses to be the face of their products instead of professional models then Vogue magazine and other magazines started doing the same .

Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista weren’t called the holy Trinity for no reason. But Karen Mulder, Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss, Helena Christensen, Cindy Crawford, Carla Bruni and Yasmeen Ghauri were all HUGE. These are thee iconic supermodels
These women were truly larger than life, they really did define the first half of the 90's. I was a child in the 90's, but even I can remember the impact these women had. Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer in particular, they were EVERYWHERE. What strikes me most about models then versus now, is how much FUN those women were having. They were all individuals, and all had their own walks and vibe... Somewhere down the line it all changed.
Agree but considering the times back in their day they had a monopoly on the industry which is why they commanded the salaries they did they didn't have to compete with women in showbusiness for magazine covers as they always were first priority for that as well as make up and cosmetic companies so naturally they had more fun because it was less competition now you have more models working but fewer girls in those top spaces and it's harder now to get to the top as opposed to back then and they've gotten worse with the weight restrictions back in the nineties models could be as big as a size 8 they looked like real women now the standard is 5'10 103 lbs sad
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it won't,the human crave for attention increased 1000% with the launch of different social media platforms,it made anyone & everyone a supermodel/rockstar in their own make-believe world when in reality ,they don't have 1% of the originals appeal/ethic/talent ...but hey it be like that.
Interesting decision to not even mention Gisele but include Lila Moss, someone who under no circumstance would have ever booked a single job or even gotten signed to an agency if not for her mother.
You must have missed the part where he specifically states that designers are now working with the sons and daughters of supermodels. He did not call her a supermodel. And he’s right, nepotism has worked well for Lila who would never be booked otherwise.
I find it more interesting that Helena Christensen wasn’t mentioned, I just saw maybe one picture of her, but she was part of that group. Carla Bruno too, but she was more in the background.
Yup. I don’t know who’s kid it was, but there was a young girl on the runway who literally looked so out of place it wasn’t funny. It actually might’ve been Madonna’s daughter.
Gisele Bündchen 🇧🇷 was the highest paid in the world for almost 2 whole decades, I entered the record book, introduced Brazilian women to fashion, created Horse Walk, extinguished Her0in Chic etc... It was considered the only Übermodel in the world (biggest of all), I believe she was the last SUPERMODEL, when she left Brazil and made history.
I can't believe they did not mention y2k supermodels (Giselle Bundchen/ Adriana Lima etc) but Kate's daughter who's not even model looking is in the video.

It was a short documentary guys.... And he discussed the two extremes of the supermodel eras and that's more than ok. Between the past and present era was Tyra, Gisele, Heidi, Adriana, Alessandra, Liya, Karolina and the rest!

Fight me, but my impressions of today’s „super models“ (talking to you Kendall, Bella, Gigi) is that they got into modeling because of nepotism, insta clout and the glamorous life style that comes with it and not because of the passion for the craft or real talent. They walk like horses and there is no grace and no charisma at all. I can only think of Imaan Hammam as stunning regarding the newer generation**. Overall, nothing will ever beat the divine models of late 80s/beginning of 90s ✨ the nostalgia is real! **have to add Joan Smalls, Cindy Bruna, Jasmin Wijnaldum, Candace Swanepoel.
Bella and gigi's walks are honestly not as bad as what people make it out to be, yes theyre not amazing or outstanding and they wouldn't be supermodels without nepotism but theyre not bad, saying they walk like horses is a bit much yikes
I wasn’t born in the 90’s but I would die to experience those times, supermodels went through a lot but I would love to see the positive side of that time, it’s so precious, models were so much more appreciated

When she became the girl she was only known for being super skinny. Kind of like twiggy in the 1960s who unfortunately brought the waif look into modeling.

A Supermodel is a model who's well known to the general public outside of fashion that's generally a harder feat to achieve as the masses on average don't really care about fashion like that because most people can't afford to shop at exclusive upscale department stores Supermodels were on par with pop stars and movie stars in their fame people know who they are and as such earn more money than the average working model
All the nepo models wouldn’t have survived in the 90s and early 2000s era the standards have declined dramatically; nowadays models look like everyday girls that have well known parents and social media following
