As a woman, getting cat called can be two very different experiences. There’s definitely times it’s a confidence booster. If that person is coming from a fun lighthearted place… totally different from someone who might not have good intentions. Maybe their aggressive, or not respecting your space, etc. It’s just a vibe. Glad you had a good experience 😂
I think that Eryn is acting this way because she is subconsciously scared. She’s not had an easy life and I think she’s scared now that she had a good life with Laura and Tyler.
I don’t always ignore them. I either tell them to fuck off or I say thanks and keep walking, depends on the guy and how he says it. It’s the being confident and sayings thanks that unnerves them the most. Also if a guy i’m talking to looks down at my tits then I stare at his crotch while I talk.They get so uncomfortable, usually because they think their fly is down and they start fumbling because they want to check but they’re too embarrassed.

I got cat called 11 days ago. I was on my bike in Santa Monica. Like Laura, I ignored the guys in the car. They drove up behind me and honked to scare me then ran me over. Gonna be a long recovery. But guys don’t understand what women go through. I get cat called three times a day in LA if not more and it’s just so normal I’ve stopped noticing until I got run over. Thank you Laura and Manny for the light hearted content. I really need it right now.

@Ari Val no they drove off, one lady got photos but then plates are blurry. The detective is looking into cameras in the area but so far they are all blurry plates or the car is off in the distance :( praying they find them 🙏🏽

How many HS do you know that can independently support themselves directly after HS? She had all the resources and Laura had to basically tell her to get a grip, for her to use them. It doesn’t take very much to realize how much grace she had in her situation.
I feel for Eryn! I was really scared to start college and I put off a lot of deadlines because of it. I figured out a few years later that it was an anxiety disorder.

I think it’ll be a vital lesson because I often see other students who are younger then me come in and they’re lost, or want things to be like right in front of them already ready and that’s just not the reality of life, or adulting so hopefully she takes this in. It can be a big change but if you put the effort forward and put yourself out there you’ll be okay.
I know she probably won’t know cause it’s new to her but time management, and due dates with everything also, like you can’t just wake up one day and pick a dorm or classes there’s a set time/day they’ll have it on the academic calendar for all students and typically send out emails when they’re upcoming so just keeping those in mind midway through a semester

I went to college in 2015 which seems like a LIFETIME ago. I went to college about 2 hours away from home and applied for dorm/housing by myself and I’ll never forget my counselor asking me if my family loved me because they haven’t seen any young adult go thru that process by themselves. I didn’t know what she meant until seeing all of my classmates parents helping them with FASFA, Portal logins, dorm logins the whole shabang. I know you both love her and this is a bit of growing pains for everyone involved. I couldn’t imagine going thru it post pandemic though
Sometimes love is tough…Laura said they’d been reminding her so I’m sure they were there for her every step of the way but wanted her to put in some initiative. 😊
The Eryn story of the stairs, reminded me of when I wore heels to my student worker job to appear more professional and missed a step on the stairs. Fell and got up so quick to play off because I was next to the admin office 😩 a lady came out and I was in so much pain but acted like nothing happened
Wait ok! This episode really resonated w me, specifically the part where they were talking about erin starting college because literally same. Idk about her but I'm a first generation college student and transitioning from HS to college is so different. HS, everyone helps you, but in college, you dont know what you dont know. I didnt know about ratemyprofessor and I had to learn the hard way, I missed numerous classes because I didnt know R was Thursday, she'll definitely learn as she goes though. Love it!

Honestly Manny, I know how you feel with the body issues. I went to San Diego for first time to visit a friend and I accidentally walked in front of this guy and he just like angrily called me a fatty. And I literally didn’t know what to say because it was such a middle school insult, I was in shock
I do commend you both for not bailing Erin out. That would’ve been the easy route. I am learning this as well. I WANT to bail my son out constantly but I realize what is he learning with me doing that? I definitely see a ton of differences from when I was younger to now but she will learn as she goes!!
I love your podcast! From what I know Adam Levine works more behind the scenes now on The Voice. He hasn’t been a judge for a long time now. They actually have been doing a lot of rotating with judges. So far the only two they haven’t replaced in a long time are Blake Shelton and John Legend. But I could be very wrong about him not being a producer anymore, but he is for sure not a judge. Loved this episode. Love you both so much.

Manny & Laura I freaking love this podcast like so much, y’all literally reminds me of one of my best friends & I’s conversations every time we talk on the phone. We live nine hours away from each other now and have been besties since the 7th grade & I’m 43 now. This is really making me miss him. Y’all are too cute 🥰 Manny , you look amazing and I hate when people call anyone fat because it’s like the only thing they can think of!? It’s like come up with something better…seriously though. It happened to me at a local bar like forever ago and idk why I let it get to me back than , because I knew exactly what she was doing…but I let my damn insecurities get the better of me , plus like you I was already seeing red like bright red and wanted punch her face. i never finished college cuz the one i went to was not accessible to the disabled as previously said it would be. I still have nightmares of going to campus and getting confused and lost and not knowing my schedule. i hope she can find her stride because its important
