Dad and I purchased our first M1 Garands from CMP for $162 after shooting in the National Matches at Camp Perry in 1991. Great looking and shooting rifles. Received my fourth expert grade M1 Garand last week. May 1942 Springfield receiver with comparably dated trigger group, bolt and action. New barrel, stock and gas cylinder. It's 81 years old and looks like new. Absolutely beautiful. Thanks CMP.

I sent in my packet today for an expert grade in .308. I hope to make the cut while they last. I bought an expert grade in 30/06 about 2 years ago. I sighted it in and the won $100 first prize At our rifle club with it . And I ain’t that good a shot. A superb piece of equipment. Thanks CMP for saving these bits of American history.

I bought one a long time ago, 5 years I think, and I couldn't be happier with it. I finished the stock and would upload a photo if I could, it's beautiful. I added a gas plug that will allow for higher pressure ammo so I don;t blow myself up along with my rifle. I bought one to honor the memory of a fellow Marine friend of mine who was at the Chosin reservoir! Merry Christmas to all get one!

According to the data, there are only 1.8% of vets still alive who fought in WW2 and held this rifle to facing the enemies. It's amazing that there are still plenty of rifles still available to be picked up and enjoyed by a generation that came after.

I thoroughly enjoy my Special Rack Grade and it's great to see the CMP offering this new configuration. What could be better than an 'almost' brand new M1 Garand? Two 'almost' brand new M1 Garands. It really is the best of both worlds. A piece of historic firearm Americana and a great rifle you can take to the range and shoot as much as you'd like for generations to come.

Jim, Thank you for clearing several items up for me! The description you explained on the new barrels finally helped me understand what TE and ME stood for on my blue tag on the Garand I own!! Your explanation of internal parts and the pictures helped a great deal also! I wish all of my instructors could explain things as clearly as you do! I hope CMP continues to make videos like this. I watched this video several times to learn as much as possible!! I believe the more you teach the more you will sell.

I love my Expert grade H&R M-1. Looks as good as the day it came out of the H&R factory. Very accurate. I have shot out to 300 yards with it. I would go longer but the range does not permit that. It rests in my safe with my low serial number SA I got in 1992 from the DCM. I will try them both at them CMP Marksmanship Park in two days.

I'm planning on buying two. as long as the barrels are good everything else is interchangeable it's a wonderful thing about something that's made millions of and everyone is interchangeable. mismatched guns are perfect. one to get set up for my truck gun for my job. the other one just stay at home so that the wife can keep an eye on the pasture. wild hogs and black bears have already been killed on my property. it wasn't easy with 556!

Been on the fence about getting one of these expert grade models for a while now. I've been hoping that they'll come back out with the CMP special grade because I would prefer that. It seems like the only difference is the special grade has all refinished parts while the expert grade is a mix of different finishes. Is that correct? Is there any chance they will be making special grades again? I see the description is still on the website so I have to assume it might be available again in the future but if the expert grade is the best that we're going to get I'll go ahead and buy that.
@CivilianMarksmanshipProgram
@CivilianMarksmanshipProgram 11 месяцев назад
Functionality wise they are exactly the same both sporting the new barrel and stock. The internals are the only difference here. There is no update at this time about the return of special grades. We hope you enjoy whichever you decide to get!

Send the paperwork in, I promise you won't regret it. I was hoping for a HRA receiver but ended up with SA and I'm satisfied. Only minor complaint is it must of been picked up a few times in the store because the receiver repark on the left side is kind of scratched up and some scratches on the stock and a small crack near the butt plate. Still satisfied with what I received.

Just got one, my only complaint about the rifle was the charging rod was bent more than a little (I straightened it) and the thing was filthy. When you buy a rifle that comes as "Expert Grade" with what's supposed to be a new barrel and stock, you would think the innards and barrel would be clean?
@Haisteno
@Haisteno Год назад
The operation rods are bent by design. Straightening them out can cause them to “short cycle” and not load the next round correctly.
