I hit the 97, 100 & 100D the last 2 days. Great feel on all of them. 97 felt like the most power (heavy ball) when the technique is sound and I could confidently swing to specific targets with success. 100 felt better on defense and more forgiving, accurate but underpowered on serve. 100D felt like the easiest to swing, but less spin. All demos had full multi and not the gut/poly hybrids I typically enjoy hitting with. I want to buy 1 and currently am between the 97 and 100. Coming from a VC98. OHBH swing felt consistent with D, erratic w 100 and most rewarding w 97...when timing was on.

Great review, I was a 97D user and found the racket a bit too heavy in the head. I tried weights in the handle, but that just bumped the static weight up too much. I’m a OHBH player and this this where it rewarded me with the confidence and plow through with its beefy swing weight. What I couldn’t get on with was the tight 18x20 string pattern. I tried many different iterations of string combinations in the low 40’s, but in the end conceded that it was not for me. I’ll be attending a Yonex play test day in September, so keen to try out the Percept range of rackets and the other silos. I currently play with the VCP97 310g 2021 and most recently a customised VC95 2021. Been really enjoying the VC95, as it helps me with control with that 16x20 string pattern.

Thanks for your thoughts and comparison. Interesting to see that you have different preferences for your OHBH, so both the 16x19 and 18x20 can do well depending on preferred feel.

Nice vid. Was particularly helpful to hear opinions as to how it compares to outgoing models from players who used the prior ones as their primary racket. I am a 4.0 usta player with a ohbh and rely on a heavy kick serve. I have played with the Vcore98 for the past 4 years and get along with it well, currently '23 model. I do have to spin every shot and pick a generous target or risk hitting long. I wish I could hit targets better and flatten out approach shots/inside out. I did own a prior VCP97 (blue) and loved the feel...but it left balls short too often when my technique was not good. I also tried a Ezone98 and was able to hit nails, but balls were not as heavy and it gave me arm pain. I am looking to see if any of the new Percept sticks can dethrone my VC98. Not sure which will compliment my game best between the 100, 100D and 97. I generally prefer 97-98 head size but perhaps that is silly since the 100 can give me more depth and forgiveness. 100 definitely seems like the easiest to use, but if I can wield the others they may be more rewarding. Not sure which of the other two: 97 or 100D would give me a bigger serve. Also with the added weight of those will I lose racket head speed & maneuverability when not in perfect position (defensive or late). Thanks for the feedback and I look forward to testing all of them with the hopes that it leads me to have more confidence when serving/swinging big in matches. Thanks for your specific insight on this racquet!! Having recently started playing with the outgoing VCORE Pro 97D & switching back to a one-hander, the updated stiffer hoop on the Percept will be much appreciated… VCORE Pro has great feel & control but can feel a bit too flexy against big pace.

Can you please point differences between Yonex Vcore 95 '23 vs Yonex Percept 97?

How would you say this Percept 97 compares to the Ezone 98? What playing style suits each racquet best?

I switched to an old Ezone DR 98 this spring and love the plow I get from it and it's been growing on me more and more all year. But man, this racket does seem quite nice. Wonder how it would handle in comparison.

You all hitting with the H? I found it's not nearly as heavy to swing as prior version. Pretty accessible frame and the weight can be a big help at the net and on serve returns.

Have you tried the 100 and the 100 D? Which is better more aggressive topspin but looking for control? I use loopy forehand and sometimes drive the ball.

Increased hoop stiffness is a total deal breaker for me. It's usually a precursor to future arm ache. Thanks for the info and the review.

Is Luke going to stick with the Outlast string or switch to another string (Rev for instance) in the new 97d?

I have had the old 97HD and the 97 of that version. I liked te HD more then. After the update to the last version 97D and it's 97 counterpart it was the othre way around. Somehow my 97D just resisted vertical swing acceleration and only wanted to go through the ball (measured it swing weight etc and couldn't find the reason for it), So currently I have the last 97 version vcore pro. I weighted it up to my preferred spec. It is nice but just a bit too muted. I do NOT need any more power than that, so I don't know if the percept is for me. Does the percept 97D has more or less power compared to the 97? It is denser so less power, but the swing weight is higher so more plow through power.. The 100D seems interesting, but that one has an RA of 66, which is above my preferred range. But RA doesn't always say everything.

Thanks for making the video! I am a VCP97D user, OHBH, and funny enough that I switched from a Blade 98 like Luke (except I am a lefty and much less skills 😂) Do you think it’s a worthy switch to the Percept 97D? Flexible/soft racquet helped me from last year tennis elbow

I know you guys said you weren't making comparisons.... but how does it compare to the vcore 95 in terms of power and launch angle?

What string, gauge and tension are you using normally in your 97d ?

They aren't decidedly better than the previous models, the D and H.

Thanks for your feedback. I was shocked when Yonex presents the Percept with such an ugly color 🤮. I think that this choice will have an impact on the sales of the Percept like the last Head Extreme line, good rackets but a lot of players can't play with a good racket with a color they hate. I bet this version will not have the success it deserves, simply because of a failed cosmetic.
