From South Africa and lost everything in a flash. Cars trucks, houses, etc. I went back to basics and had to buy a cheap runner cash to get by. Ended up buying a Volvo S40 2.4 Non Turbo with high mileage. Due to the service records, I took a leap of faith and will never buy another car ever again besides Volvo. Fantastic service and low-cost running saved my day. In the position to upgrade and will by another Volvo, but as for my trusty S40 2.4, she's getting a complete makeover and is staying by side until I die or pass onto family that will appreciate her. Must still decide

Welcome to the Sweed Speed club sis. Skal! Got a 81k miles 2014 S6 over here. My dad had a "turbo brick" over 300k miles until the engine literally blew up and caught fire to the car while parked. I'm hoping to one day buy a new one and take the free volvo paid for trip to sweden to pick up your custom car then after a factory tour they ship it back to you.

bought a used s80 2.0t 2006 late 2018, high milage at 300k km. replaced all the weird issues that popped up. been running nicely now at 400k+. Despite the expensive parts it's surprisingly reliable as long you do the maintenance early when issues are detected. those will bleed into costs if not taken care of.

Thank you for this great and helpful video. I took your advice from another video you made some time ago and did stage 0 "tuning" so far a lot has been done on my 2002 s60 2.0 LPT. It has cool extras in it not super fast but its ok for the family. PCV done including all related hoses, sparkplugs, injector seals and filters, new front anti roll bar, front suspension inc. top mounts, drop links, rear shocks. Bought both lower wishbone arms just did not have time for it yet. Also have dual mass flywheel, clutch kit and slave cylinder but that might be too much for me to do on my own...:( and now going to do sunroof drain check this weekend :) Thanks again for making useful videos
@WhipGetters
@WhipGetters Год назад
As long as you love the car and the process, the car doesn’t have to be fast! The joy of the whole journey is always what’s most important. You even have a lot more modifications to yours compared to our S60. You have way more body support and maintenance vs our want to go fast modifications. A huge difference for your speed would be a great fuel pump upgrade. If you upgrade the pump, I promise you that you won’t be disappointed!😎

I have a 1966 Volvo Amazon (122s) roller and was thinking of what engine to put in it. Started with the LS... but that overdone, still awesome. Thought about a K24 RWD conversion, but the sound is terrible. I am really leaning towards building a T5 for it.
@WhipGetters
@WhipGetters Год назад
All you had to say was Amazon and the mind starts to go crazy with ideas!😱 You are speaking truth about the LS motors being overdone and overly normal now. I guarantee if you’re able to make the 5 cyl a RWD (which is not imposible) you’ll get way more respect and attention other than having an LS!!😎

I just bought a 2003 2.9 s80 and already it had one clogged catalytic converter. But it was at over 155,000 miles I expected something to happen. Plus I got it cheap and no service records unfortunately. I heard the transmission is bad on these? Is that just for the turbo or the plain 6 like I have now. Cheers tho love the Swedish delights. We’re not super familiar with the 2.9l motors since their not 5 cylinders. We’ve heard that they are pretty difficult to work on and have their own types of issues vs. the 5 cyl Volvos. Look around on the forums and see what some people say about them!👍

@WhipGetters
@WhipGetters Год назад
We’re not really too familiar with the D5 Volvos, majority of those were mass produced in Europe. But if you have a pros and con list, you already have 2 pros for the Volvo: the looks, and the space! Plus, everyone has a civic, but not everyone has decked out Volvo!😎
@kvahuest2998
@kvahuest2998 Год назад
@@WhipGetters They cost around the same, civic has like 130bhp while the d5 has like 180, road tax for the civic is £100 cheaper at £130 while the volvo is like £230 and insurance is alot cheaper aswell, ill probably give it another year to see what the insurance goes to for the volvo. They are both really good engines so, the civic looks like an egg tho, dont think the US market got the fn1/fn2.
@WhipGetters
@WhipGetters Год назад
It’s really whatever you can see yourself driving in the next couple years. Volvo is something different than Hondas for sure! If you’re in Europe as it seems, Volvos seem like that have way more support than here. Regardless of your decision, I think you’ll be happy either way!🤙
@kvahuest2998
@kvahuest2998 Год назад
@@WhipGetters What about the s60 with the 2.0T engine? i know the 2.5T engine is from the fiesta ST and that can have cracking problems in the block.
@WhipGetters
@WhipGetters Год назад
The only way it can have cracking problems is too much power or boost. As long as those categories are well know of, you’ll be fine with modifying and doing what you like!🤙 The 2.0t motors on the other hand we’re not too sure about power mods and such. They’re not that widespread vs the higher liter engines.
