What do you need to know if you are planning on hiking and camping in Norway? In this episode I talk about the Norwegian allemannsretten, "the right to roam". Where can I light a bonfire, where can I pitch a tent, what if I have a dog? I answer all these questions and many more.
Tusen takk, thanks a lot for checking out the episode!
Pål

Hello Pål, in sept i will be backpacking / wald camping near Furu heim , 135 km north i will end, do i need to worry about bears?

@@falkojael Hei! That sounds like a great trip. You do not have to worry about bears. There are some brown bears in Norway, but they are very rare, and the chance you'll encounter one is very very small. And if so they are shy and not aggressive. God tur!

Hi Pal, I must say that if I had discovered your videos before my recent trip to Norway, I probably would have stayed longer. But it doesn't matter, with what I experienced and enjoyed, I understood that I must return and next time with our entire family. I love nature and architecture, so seems to be the perfect place. In addition to touring Oslo for a week, with my wife we did the Rallarvegen bike ride to Flam, and that was amazing. I hope to see in the future some video of yours of that experience. I really enjoy your videos and especially the ones about the way of life in norway. Cheers from Argentina

Hei Matias! Tusen takk for your nice comment, and I'm glad to hear you had such a nice time in Norway. And agree, I really should make one from Rallarvegen! I drove over Hardangervidda last year, but did not have time to do any biking unfortunately. Take care, and I hope you'll make it back to Norway sooner or later :D

In Ireland we don't have many natural forests unfortunately...lots of our forests were cut down centuries ago. So here people usually walk in the mountains or land that is publicly accessible.

I did Østmarka, Nordmarka and Grefsenkollen. Ample parking at all three. I used Grefsenkollen as my base camp, I set up my tent at one of the unofficial camping sites near the restaurant. My favourite was Grefsenkollen as the restaurant at the end was a great reward. Living off dehydrated hiking rations gets a little old and the kyling pizza beats the pants off reconstituted chicken and rice any day. The views were amazing, and got to meet a doe with twin fawns my last morning at my campsite. Thanks for the tips, it really made for a memorable trip.

Hey Marcello! Skålatoppen is a great hike, I did it a few years back. April you can never now. It can be sunny and warm, but it can also be snowy and cold up there. To be on the safe side late May might be better for that hike. :)

@@philipploudon4600 Hi Philipp, there are many options, but all depending on how fit you are... In the forest around Oslo "Oslomarka" you find miles and miles of hiking paths, lakes ++ Stop by the store of the DNT (Norwegian Trekking Association) in Oslo and they can give you tons of good advice. For mountain hiking you could take the train to Finse, hike over the mountain and down the Aurlandsdalen (Aurlands valley) www.outdooractive.com/en/route/hiking-route/aurland/aurlandsdalen/56037558/ Plenty of good info on hiking here: www.visitnorway.com/things-to-do/outdoor-activities/hiking/dnt/ I hope this can be of some help.
